Way of Jiu Jitsu Academy

This is an amazing place to train. In March of 2015 we were looking for a place to enroll our 6 year old for training. After extensive research we thought we would give Way of Jiu Jitsu a try. (It was the Colorado BJJ). We are so happy we did! Nobuo is an amazing Professor and a true craftsman of his art. He is patient and directive with his students and I couldn’t be more proud of the progress our child has garnered through his instruction. He engages his students and pushes them to go beyond their comfort zones. If you want the best in Denver, come here!

I have been a part of the Muay Thai of Colorado/​Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu family for 9 years and wouldn’t change it for anything! These two martial arts and groups of people are my extended family and would do anything for me as I would for them. They, including myself, are always looking to improve one another especially new members and learners to each martial art. If you want people to count on, show you new things, learn at YOUR pace and learn about yourself and limits as an individual, this is the place to go.

When I first moved to Denver, CO from California about a year ago, one of the first things on my list was to find a Jiu-​Jitsu academy where I can continue to train and stay in shape. I am so fortunate to find Colorado Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu, where I was welcomed and greeted by a great group of people that I consider my extended family on and off the mats. Professors: Dave, Nobuo, and Keith are all excellent instructors who demonstrate great techniques as well as the philosophies of Jiu-​Jitsu. I am very happy to call CBJJ my new home and would highly recommend all to visit this academy!!!

CBJJ is a great place to train. The professors and students here are as friendly as it gets. If you have never trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu before this is the place to start, they will make you feel like family the minute you walk through the door. The professors here will assist you in reaching your goals, whether you plan on competing in mma/​bjj tournaments, or just want to get back into shape. They offer 1 week free to see if its right for you. I would recommend this academy to men and women of all ages.

Such a great place for the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Whether you are a beginner or advanced you are under the watchful eyes of Professor Ruiz, Professor Nobuo, and Professor Robert! It is such a great atmosphere to learn and refine your skills. It is not only the professors that make this gym great but the warmth you receive when you enter the building! Amazing people all around and a perfect learning environment for all ages and skill levels!

Got the chance to take my Godson here for his class when I was in town. He was super excited and happy to go even after a long day of me dragging him all over town! Says a lot right there! 5 year olds can get bored really quick! Even though the instructor was heading out to manage and promote a fight, he was very friendly and inviting. Not bad. Hope it keeps classes for kids around!

CBJJ is a wonderful supportive community for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu learners. There is no ego or pressure at this place. David Ruiz, the leading professor of the academy is one of the kindest, most skillful and patient instructor you can have for BJJ. If you dont understand why the moves are structured the way they are, he always make sure to explain it in a way that you will understand. Listening to how the techniques are done and actually doing it are 2 completely different process, especially considering that BJJ is a very detail oriented and intricate sport involving both the mind and body. Coach Ruiz place high emphasis on having his students understand the techniques so that when you apply it, you know WHY it will work. This make the whole training and learning process very rewarding. Moreover, train at your own pace. There is no pressure to keep up with anyone else but you.
They have kids classes available and I always see the kids having a ton of fun on top of building their self-​esteem and discipline. Just awesome.
All the other instructors under Coach Ruiz are equally kind and supportive. I’m really blessed to have this academy as my training home in Colorado.
