Wit’s End Brewing Company

Hard to find because it’s in a industrial strip center but worth the hide and seek. Beers are tasty and the staff knows their stuff. Plus, you can’t go wrong with the board games and 80s nostalgia on the walls. Especially enjoyed the Wilford.

There ain’t no beer snobbery going on here. In fact, what really stands out, aside from the good beer, is the friendliness of the staff. They really go out of their way to provide cool customer service — like you’re hanging out with your buddies. That’s what’ll keep you coming back!
The Jean-​Claude Van Blonde, aside from being a muscular name, is an excellent beer that goes down smooth as Belgian silk. I don’t even know if the Belgians make silk, but this is a great brew! Many of the beers not only have clever names, but clever flavors too. I really appreciate the creativity and enjoy it immensely.
I find the location to be quite interesting in that, «I’m in a part of the city where I don’t want to be caught all night,» kind of way. But once you get inside and feel the welcoming atmosphere everything will be right in the world. The big garage door and patio seating are great for the summertime.
They also have an excellent logo design. So much coolness going on!

Wit’s End is one of those breweries that I probably should’ve done a little more investigation aside from ogling their 4.5 stars on Unilocal before visiting. The term Wit immediately conjures up «witbier». A style of beer that I’m not really a fan of. I suppose I was too dazzled by all those Unilocal stars and gold medals to do proper research.
The taproom is located in an industrial business park as many breweries are nowadays. The taproom looked to be cobbled together from various belongs from someone’s man cave. The barman was friendly and ready to pour some beer.
I went with a taster of all 5 beers that appealed to me. They come in those cool little mini snifters for $ 2 each.
As a fan of 21^st Amendment’s Back in Black, I thought I would enjoy the Super Fly Black IPA. I did not. It had a very Belgian flavor that lingered for far too long, ruining one of my favorite style of beer.
The «creatively» named Killing me Smalls was a weak attempt at a style that I’m not all that fond of to begin with. The Session IPA. Some such as Firestone’s Easy Jack, are great. Most others are not. This beer is in that second category. It tastes like a cross between a Pale and something else.
My favorite of the bunch was… Surprise! Their Barrel-​Aged Kitchen Sink A barrel aged version of their regular Rye Porter. Although I couldn’t taste much of the barrel on this, it was quite smooth.
It’s probably not a fault of the brewery that this isn’t my style of beer. It’s just not for my tastebuds. Try it for yourself and see.

This place is a hidden gem. I found out about it from being a member of the DBC (Denver bouldering club) that sits behind this quaint lil brewery! Their beer is unfiltered so it has a very unique (and delicious) taste. If you want to get a taste for what they are made of, I suggest going for the «green man» one they got the metal for.

Awesome place with even better beers… Scott is a gracious host who knows how to brew fantastic beers with names like Super FLI.P.A. & Jean Claude Van Blonde (& it doesn’t hurt that Scott’s super easy on the eyes BTW).

A little hard to find (google, you could be more accurate, and Wit’s End — a sign would be lovely) but once I turned into the warehouse strip mall parking lot, I was glad I had. Met up with the bf and his friend for after work drinks. The sun was shining, the garage door was open, and empanadas by La Chiva food truck were ready and waiting. Matt was our server and he approached our table as soon as I sat down to welcome me, introduce himself, and give me the run down on their beers. The guys had long been enjoying the brews before I arrived, so I appreciated Matt’s thorough explanations and patience as I decided what to get. If I wasn’t driving, would have likely done a full flight, but ended up doing two 4-​ouncers of Banana Hammock (because, I mean, that is FUNNY) and Ale of the Black Freighter. Both were delicious, but the ale was seriously something special.
From the extremely friendly staff, to the «no dinosaurs harmed in the making of the hops» bags (or, at least that was my interpretation of them) adorning the walls, to the A-​Team themed fermentation tanks. this is one nano-​brewery that knows it’s sh*t. Certainly out of the way to get to, but I wouldn’t hesitate to go out of my way to return.

After bringing home a gold at GABF, Wit’s End is becoming a bigger operation by adding keg accounts and expanding distribution, but they are still executing perfectly. Sure, they’re proud of their gold medal, but they’re not snooty about it.
I go out of my way to stop by Wit’s End, and I have a good experience every time I go there. There’s no shortage of competition in Denver, but Wit’s End is doing something uniquely good, and that makes it worth it for me to choose Wit’s End instead of exploring other, newer or closer options.

What a great find! Everything we sampled was great. Friendly service. We had our doubts when über was trying to locate the brewery, but we had faith and it’s well worth a visit.

Just every blue moon I give a 5-​star rating to a brewery. Why? because although Colorado is the mecca of craft beer (in my opinion) and yes I am totally biased :) Beer is high quality across the board, saying is ordinary means good or very good. Wit’s End is one of the few breweries that really made me feel butterflies. Since the moment we walked in, the bartenders are VERY and I mean honestly very cool. They take time to talk to patrons and I can really see they are there not to make tips but because they enjoy their work.
Beer-​wise, GREAT! I went with my gut and tried Jean Claude Van Blonde, even if I hadn’t known that it won gold in GABF, I would’ve given it my personal special awesome gold medal. SO, SO good. They are totally dog friendly as long as the dog is on a leash, they even offered us a water bowl as we walked in (no patio). Ambience-​wise, super geeky and I like. Darth Vader welcomes from the top, Thor’s hammer stuck on the wall, ATARI logo on shirts, WINNER!
Although the location is just a little bit trick to find and it is surrounded by warehouses, it just became one of my top-​5 Denver breweries.

If you like good beer, kicking back in the open air with some nostalgic décor from the 80s and 90s with chill folks then this is a spot you may like. This place produces amazing beer, I mean a brewery that makes a beer called the jean claude van blonde has to be badass right? Well, these guys delivered. Place is off the beatin path and just when you think your lost you’ll find it hidden away ready to tantalize your beer cravin’ taste buds. Bring your growler or you’ll find yourself having to buy another.

Small place definitely off the beaten path. however great selection of their microbrews. doesn’t hurt that they usually have a fantastic food truck out front. but the beer is very creative and quite tasty.

Stopped in and did a sampler of five beers and liked each and every one, including the hoppier ones, which are typically beyond my palette. These guys simply make good no frills beers.
The garage door in the place opened up on a warm January day and we sat by it to feel the fresh air while playing a board game, of which they have plenty on hand to choose from.
Beertender was super friendly, introduced himself to us and walked us through their beer lineup, telling us which ones were popular and what they are were known for as we tried to make our choices.
All kinds of people gather here from cyclists to bikers, so a very welcome place to enjoy some afternoon beers.
Definitely will come back!

What a find! The beer was delicious, the atmosphere cool and laid back, and the staff are just fantastic. Matt, our server extraordinaire, was so good about describing the beer, answering questions, and just chatting with us. When we asked a question he didn’t know the answer to (my friend wanted to go to a brewery for NYE) he even asked the brewmaster over to see if he knew. Just an awesome place with genuinely cool, laid back people. Oh, and board games!
The Scotchy Scotchy beer tastes like, well, scotch. The aftertaste lingers like (I imagine) what gnawing on an ancient leather book for an hour would taste like. The friend I went with loves scotch and loves the beer. I did not but respect that scotch lovers will. All the other beers we sampled (and we did a sampler so we did them all!) were delicious, robust, and just a little out of the norm. I even liked the Jean Claude Van Blonde, and I’m not usually a fan of blondes!

I have been here a couple times now. I always get good service and tasty beer. I have tried most of what they have to offer, but I keep coming back to the Kitchen Sink Porter. It is a solid beer that gets the job done. I think it is perfect for the down to earth and unpretentious atmosphere and clientele.
I also like the Jean-​Claude Van Blond, and I am very glad it received GABF recognition. And. when I was drinking in here on a warm afternoon this summer, the Banana Hammock went down very smoothly. And the Black IPA currently on tap is no slouch. Perhaps the best thing about this otherwise obscure location is that it is just a block or so from Colorado Cider Company. This makes for a nice one-​two punch of fermentation should you decide to visit the area.

Brewer Patrick talked us through each beer and gave us the low down about the brewery. They have a nice variety and some beers that rotate through.
Their growlers rock, 40 stainless steel with a koozie-​like exterior.
They also had a food truck providing snacks and food.

Oh, Wit’s End. You had me at «Banana Hammock».
I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while now, and finally had a chance to go there a couple days ago. It’s tucked away in an industrial part of town and wasn’t the most thrilling bike ride to get there but I’m so glad made it! Scott, the owner/​brewmaster was super friendly and was happy to explain all of his beer in detail. I tried samples of 5 beers, they were decently priced at $ 2 for a 4oz pour. I enjoyed all of my beer, but my two favorites were the Jean Claude Van Blond and the Banana Hammock. Both had excellent flavors to them. I love a good fruit beer– but I feel that good fruit beer is hard to come by. It’s usually too sweet, tastes artificial, or doesn’t taste like fruit at all. Wit’s End seasonal Banana Hammock is an example of a ‘fruit’ (it’s not actually brewed with bananas… but it sure does taste like them) beer that actually gets it right ! I will be definitely be back to finish sampling all of their delicious beer.

First off, why the 4 stars? Location, signage and trying to find this place. It’s not really fair to ding them for this, since the area really doesn’t allow them to place much signage, but the fact is, they are very difficult to find.
Now on to the beers. I love them! I am not an IPA fan, and can actually be very anti-​IPA. I have no idea how these are becoming popular, but the ones served here were actually pretty good. I was very surprised. It has become habit for me to generally get a flight and see what I like, but here, I liked them all, and loved a couple. The Super FL i.p.a. was a good IPA, and the Jean-​Claude Van Blonde was excellent, by far my favorite, but the Mick Jaggery was close second.
Staff was very cool and knowledgeable and loved talking about the beer. I’ve found that, in my myriad of brewery tours, the best beers are by the most passionate people. I’ve met some brewers that didn’t seem to have the passion, and just made beer to break into the craft beer market, and you could tell their beers were not up to the same level as others. Wit’s End has the passion, and it shows.

Scott knows what he’s doing! We love coming to Wit’s End, having a beer, and chatting with the staff. When the weather is good, the doors are open and you can enjoy indoor/​outdoor beer drinking among some of the friendliest beer folks around! We will be coming back again and again!

I’m very sad to say I didn’t fall in love with Wit’s End’s beer. I really wanted to, but it just didn’t happen. (Maybe I ruined my palate with the mimosas earlier?)
The brewery is a little tough to find, but the atmosphere was fantastic. The bartender came over and introduced himself (and shook our hands!), and explained every beer on the flight. (There were 8 of them, so this was pretty impressive.) There were crayons and logos to color that are all up on the walls, and Clerks and The Princess Bride were showing on the projector. (Free entertainment!)
All in all, I think I’ll have to try the beers on another day, because Wit’s End is enough fun to merit a second attempt.

Two years later and Wit’s End still is one of my favorite breweries in town. The attention given to the guests by the owner’s and staff cannot be beat. I love going in because I feel like they know me and take the time to go over any beers I want on their extensive list.
I happened upon the 2 year anniversary last week and was delighted to see the 16 beers on tap which I was able to taste a fair amount and was impressed by most. I was one of their first patron’s 2 years ago and gave them their first Unilocal review and I am very happy to stay they have not missed a step and are becoming a real force to be reckoned with in the Denver brewery scene.
A little of the beaten trail, but I recommend getting the GPS out finding it and while you’re in the area hit up the Cidery two blocks away you might be surprised how much you like it.
