Yogurt Guru

Came here on Monday night after dinner at the cherry cricket… There were no other customers in here but us. The tables were dirty, lady behind the counter was not friendly at all, we were not greeted, and the fruit looked like it was growing fuzz. When we left, the worker lady didn’t even acknowledge us. Horrible service and sub par yogurt. Not going to come back.

Dirty, smells bad, no air conditioning, and really poor selection of toppings! Plus the layout is really bad, people are bumping into each other and the signage on the flavors is confusing!

Brought the kids in last night for a treat. The selection of flavors was okay, the quality was good. I really liked the coconut and tart flavors. There was only one size cup (bowl) which was pretty large. The shop wasn’t terribly clean. Tables weren’t wiped, napkins, spoons were running low. It could very well be that we walked in right after a rush, not sure. It was nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy our treats there.

Fun selection of yogurt flavors! Nothing too out of the ordinary, but they have something for everyone for sure. With that said they only have massive cups for your fro yo rather than having a variety of sizes, so it makes the amount of yogurt you’re putting in your cup a little deceiving.
There isn’t a ton of seating, so this place may not be the best spot for groups.

I used to visit Yogurt Guru a few times a month (from 2011 – 2013), but hadn’t been in a long time until tonight (around 7pm).
While I continue to think Yogurt Guru’s fro yo is some of the best around, the experience was entirely lackluster and disappointing and I don’t imagine I’ll be back.
First, I wasn’t greeted when I walked in, which was somewhat unusual because I made eye contact with the girl working the register and smiled and she just stared at me. As I was sampling their current flavors, the other employee who was working was walking around on her cell phone going from the back to the actual shop where she was removing the drip trays… it sounded like she was chatting, not like it was a work-​related call.
I couldn’t find any small cups out, so asked the girl at the register if they had any; she told me no, they didn’t, they had run out of those and «just about everything.» Don’t get me wrong, today was hot, and I totally get that, but you ran out of «everything»…really? I was there and I wanted fro yo, so I got a big container, added some vanilla and went on to the toppings.
I remembered the toppings to include several fresh fruit options that were actually fresh… not mushy. This was not the case today. There were 7 or 8 cereal options (half of which were nearly empty), a few nut choices, some sauces, 2 banana slices, and a selection of blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. I asked if they had more bananas and was told, «no.» The fruit that was out was not the best looking… the strawberries had some nasty spots on them and half of the blueberries were smushed, so I was semi-​digging to find the un-​smushed berries.
I paid $ 7 and change for my decent-​but-​disappointing fro yo and a really crummy experience. The employees were unprofessional (and being young isn’t an excuse – that’s a pretty rad first or second job) and uninterested in me, the toppings were just ok, and the fro yo itself isn’t worth it. I’ll continue visiting YogurtLand and will make the extra effort to head to Milk & Cake when I want a «local» fro yo fix.

I’ve been to this location a few times and it’s always clean but their flavors are pretty boring and taste too sweet and fake. I walked in today and the guy who I assume is the owner didn’t even say hello. There were a few other customers and he didn’t even acknowledge them either. I did get the watermelon/​vanilla, it was good but I prefer the flavors at Yogurtland. I don’t think I’ll be back.

Needed a refreshing relief from the 90 degree weather. This hit the spot! Good yogurt selection. Love the Rocky Mountain Tart.

Guess the frozen yogurt mania didn’t hit Denver as bad as it did other American cities. Yogurt Guru is the first local shop I visited. While the yogurt itself is not bad, the selection is very limited in both yogurt flavors and toppings. Acceptable if I happen to be in the area but otherwise I’ll stick with Pinkberry/Menchie’s for froyo. Denver does a much better job with their local ice cream shops.

So, imagine yourself strolling the streets of Cherry Creek; shopping, popping into the plethora of fun retail, possibly taking in a little Happy Hour, and a little hunger strikes. Especially in the current heat situation, Yogurt Guru hits the spot.
I really love how simple they make the process. Choose your yogurt. Add your toppings. Weigh your bowl. Pay. Okay! What really captured me as a probably recurring customer were the prices. The bowls are only offered in one size, which is pretty substantial, so I was a tad perturbed if I was going to have to pay for a size I didn’t particularly want. But no — the prize was reasonable. With a topping it was all under $ 6. I got a bigger bowl than I expected for the amount I expected. Win. Win.
There aren’t an overwhelming amount of toppings, but that’s another attribute I admire. I don’t need all the froo froo, just some fresh fruit and nuts for me! I’ll return for sure!

While I’d like a bit more variety in their offerings it’s fairly typical for the DIY yogurt joints of the last few years.

Great little froyo place in Cherry Creek. I have been here a few times and have always walked out with tasty yogurt complete with a variety of toppings. They miss the mark on 5 stars in my book as the service has sometimes been lack-​luster, it’s definitely hit and miss. I do like the yogurt though and they have some sorbet as well for those you can’t do dairy. As far as toppings go, I love that they have crushed up Reese’s Pieces-​my favorite. Being in Cherry Creek the price per ounce is a little pricier than some other places in town but nothing significant. A great place to go in summer for a light after dinner bite.

I’m beginning to feel that most Fro-​Yo shops compensate for fat in their non-​tart flavors by pouring in the sugar. Just like Yogurtland and Mechies, the non-​tart flavors here are way too sugary. While I understand that some people may not enjoy the tart flavors, I don’t understand compensating for fat by dumping sugar in. How about flavor instead? Make the pumpkin taste like pumpkin; the blackberry like blackberry… I opted for their plain tart and some fruit.
While I like the fact that Yogurt-​Guru is a local company, I prefer the taste of the Red Mango and Pinkberry chains. I may consider coming here if I am already in the area, but since it’s about the same driving distance to places I’d prefer, I can’t say I’d go out of my way for it.

We are on a frozen yogurt exploration. Stopped on a whim. First time here. Only found two flavors of interest, which was odd for me. Usually have to limit my choices so it doesn’t turn out to be too much of a smorgasboard.
Low energy. A bit disappointing… tho did like being able to walk around Cherry Creek while eating it. :)
Unfortunately this is one «guru» I will not be following. :(

While I found Yogurt Guru to be a bit pricier than anticipated, I believe I ate my fair share in samples beforehand. It was my first time there and as such, I needed to figure out what I wanted. So I tried nearly all of the flavors in the teeny tiny cups before making my selection… and no one yelled at me! I got 2 frozen yogurts — mine was on the smaller side and I got a waffle bowl for Mark S. It came out to about $ 8 total.

This place is very good. I samples a couple flavors, and some of them were quite tasty (the orange tasted like baby aspirin. .. which is fine by me). I had heard this place was «the best» frozen yogurt around. It was definitely better than some, but I am not sure it was better than my normal favorites (such as Swirls). No free parking nearby is unfortunate.

Good flavors to select from and lots of toppings.
I had their white chocolate and a chocolate peanut butter swirl.
It hit the spot on a nearly 100-​degree day.

2012 Review #178:
One of the few yogurt places whose flavors taste like they claim they will. Only been here twice but came back recently and was reminded why I liked it so much. I normally don’t try the dessert flavors because they only taste like «sweet,» but here they taste true to their name. I tried the cookies and cream, pecan praline and the swirled chocolate and peanut butter. The cookies and cream really tasted like Oreos, and my favorite was the pecan praline. It was a little sweet but was very creamy and had a nice, toasty and nutty flavor.
The toppings are a bit sparse; no toffee, no nuts besides sliced almonds, no graham crackers, no Mother’s cookies, not much in the way of sweet «crunchy» toppings in general. One small container of granola had to suffice; doesn’t really compare to Ripple’s arrangement of 5+ granola varieties. That said, I’d rather the yogurt taste good than be crappy and covered up by good toppings.
I do wonder about the by-​weight factor. I swear I get hardly any yogurt and it’s still 6+ oz every time. Also, I know they tare out the weight of the cup, but it’s pre-​programmed into the scale, from what I can tell, yet there are 3 different cups. Does the scale just know? Could it be that they only tare the smallest cup weight? Just makes me wonder, anyway. Not accusing, just musing. Anyway, it’s a little pricey but in Cherry Creek, often the prices are high but the quality is not. At least here the quality does match what you pay.

Another amazing Fro-​Yo place. I was out at Cherry Creek at Whole Foods and decided to check my bookmarks for some place new that was close and what do you know the «Yogurt Guru» showed up.
For me this totally hit the spot since my air conditioning has just failed in my car, and it is 100 degrees in my car all the time right now. So some Fro-​Yo was right up my alley.
Pleased to see they offered a lot of seating. I walked right in and started sampling some of their tart flavors — my favorite kinds. After doing my do diligence in sampling I got a cup and got four flavors to go, Mango, Rocky Mountain Tart, Pomegranate, and Raspberry Acai. Soo yummy. I got a big cup so I will be munching for a couple days.
Just so y’all know, Fro-​Yo places do NOT exist in PA! I’m not sure why, I think they would make a fortune. Note to Fro-​Yo joints, go to the East coast and corner the market.
I will totally be back when I visit Cherry Creek — who knows possibly this weekend.

When people say all frozen yogurt taste the same they are lying.
«Froyo» can be too watery, too «ice-​y», and some just don’t have enough flavor.
First of all, I can’t believe all the ice-​cream and froyo places in Denver are so packed! I guess coming from Texas we had TONS of frozen treat places since it’s always hot there.
Either way, this place is conveniently located for me in the Cherry Creek Shopping area so there is plenty of parking. Although there were 30 people outside eating their treats, the line inside wasn’t long at all.
I got the cake batter and red velvet flavors cause… duh, they are the tastiest! The thickness and sweetness were perfection. The cake batter tasted like icing and the red velvet was so chocolatey!
They even had mochi for a topping (which is my favorite) as well as the usual random cereal, caramel, cheesecake toppings.
Will I go here again? You bet your summer butt!
