Ugh… so sad. I am officially calling the death of heritage grill. We had many great lunches and dinners there over the years. BUT… it’s now under new ownership and the place is just sad. We should have known when we were the only people in the place on a weekday at 7:30pm. Everything we ordered for dinner was wrong. Tomato soup had no flavor. It was clear that the chicken parm was pre-made and warmed up in a microwave. Even the house salad looked thrown into the plate with canned corn and sunflower seeds. They had no ice tea or pickles for the burger. The best part of the meal was the pistachio mini muffins… these too seem to be pre-made from somewhere else. This reminds me of one of those places Robert Irvine visits to help them rework the menu, food quality, etc. It breaks our heart but we are done with the heritage…

If I could give them 3.5 stars, I would. Met up with a friend to catch up and we chose Heritage Grill simply because we wanted to sit outside. The weather was beautiful and we were able to enjoy our meals in their outdoor seating area(about 8 tables with umbrellas that provide a bit of shade). Another benefit of sitting outside was that i was able to bring my pup. He had a grand ol’ time begging for food and playing with passers by. The place is BYOB so we picked up a bottle of wine down the street before heading over. I ordered the lime chicken quesadillas and my friend ordered a salad. Both were quite good and the portions were generous. Service could’ve been a bit quicker but sometimes that’s what happens when you sit outside. We were in no rush so we didn’t mind.

This place sucks. The worst service. Took over an hour to get a burger and it was raw. Another 20 minutes and it was burnt. Waitress was awful. Never checked back. Had to return raw burger to kitchen myself!!! Never going back!

A lovely spot in downtown Denville paired with some of the friendliest wait staff in Morris County. The food was delicious, though the presentation left me wanting more. The blue plate specials and southern fried chicken are a sure bet — not surprisingly given that this is an Americana niche restaurant. Prices are incredibly fair.

The food is pretty good. What I adore are the soup bread bowls. My favorite is the vegetarian tomato. The staff are friendly and warm and décor is cozy.

This place has been here for a long time & the times I’ve I could have experienced better service. The service was slow. they weren’t friendly, & the last time I was there my server was a lady then she went on break than another lady took over. I hope this restaurant closes because of my service & I hope the next place has better service.

We went there last night, it’s a very cute place. My husband had the shrimp, fish, and fries. I had a cheeseburger. First, the wait was a bit long, our waiter was a young high school student — and I think he forgot about us a few times. Otherwise the service was fine. Secondly, the food was… iffy? My husbands food was WAY over spiced(which is normally a bad sign with fish) it also had this mushy texture. So he didn’t finish his. My burger was a big hunk of meat! I can tell it was cooked — maybe I just wasn’t crazy over the flavor? It was difficult to chew, the bun and the burger were both very hard. The fries were great though :) All in All… it’s 3 stars for a reason.

We’ve walked past this restaurant several times and finally decided to stop in for lunch on a Saturday. They have outside seating but really, downtown Denville is plain-looking. There’s no real draw to sitting outside. We sat inside at a window booth. The interior of the restaurant was clean and sported a quaint American theme. The service was beyond slow, but they were short on staff, so we took this into account. We were hoping the food was going to be good, but it was just so-so. Our starter — buffalo chicken fingers — was mediocre. My husband’s entrée was the best. A chopped steak topped with Maytag blue cheese and a medley of veggies steamed just right. My entrée — not so much! Listed under California spa cuisine on the menu, I ordered the chicken breast over angel hair pasta with lemon pesto and artichokes. Sounds great, right? The pasta was overcooked, the chicken breast, cut into large planks, was dry and tough. There were maybe 3 small pieces of cut artichoke in the sauce, and the pesto was not fresh. It must have been from a jar or previously frozen. With all the fresh basil around in July, there’s no excuse for crappy pesto. I picked at my meal, but did ask them wrap it up to go. When we left, I considered the likelihood that I would eat leftover bad food, and threw it in a Denville trash can, right where bad food belongs. Maybe their burgers are good. This place is probably a hit-or-miss type of deal. I saw a couple of burger orders being delivered to tables that looked good — but hey, how hard is it to make a burger?. Based on our experience, we won’t return. There are so many places in the area that serve fantastic food. We wasted $ 48 on mediocre fare.

Great find in Denville… Great service and they recommended the blue plate meatloaf, which was great with side salad and warm bread… Not to mention being from the South I love the fact they serve good sweat tea!!! I will return.

Oh vey. I think everyone traveling w a family should know the following. Pros: outside seating. Provide crayons for kiddos. Byob. Cons… ugh. The service was strange and slow. We sat outside and though polite, our waiter was less than excited or jovial. He was… asleep. the menu items were appealing but when the food came out, the helpings were small for the price. We went to the Thatcher Maghees the day before and spent ¼ less and had a LOT more food w alcohol and an overall warmer experience. We ordered thr calamari and mozz salad here, the calamari was described as a «boat» full. It was a total of 21 small rings. The mozz was indeed as described, fresh. We ordered a salad and a California skinny meal and though tasty, they were both $ 14 and we considered it over priced. If u want to sip on an iced tea and have fries outside in town, ok. If ure looking for a good meal at a fair price w great service, keep walking. This place isn’t it.

If our lunch today is any indicator, the Heritage Grill is headed downhill. We had the grilled salmon and spinach wrap with waffle fries, something we’ve ordered and enjoyed many times before. The waffle fries, however were a terrible disappointment — dry and tasteless; and the wrap, although tasty had about half the usual amount of food in it. We were offered no refills of our drinks, and the usual 2 Hershey Kisses that come with the check were missing. If this is the norm, I won’t be coming back.

Really sad to write this review as the place is cute and our waitress was delightful. I wish the food was as good. We started with soup, which my tomato basil was luke warm and not very good. My husband had chicken noodle with something«unidentifiable» in it. The Blue Plate turkey was awful, as was my Eggplant Parmesan. It was like the round disk eggplant from the grocery store freezer, fried and put on top of angel hair without any sauce. We did give it one more round with dessert, and found the bread pudding pretty good, but certainly not the best I’ve ever had. Your probably better off with a salad or a burger here.

Although the food here never disappoints when it comes to taste, and the wait staff is very friendly and attentive, after not being here for probably over a year I was shocked to pay $ 12.95 for chicken pot pie and a small salad which was really chicken soup with a cute star made out of pastry on top. There were no chunks of chicken, just minimal shredded pieces with peas and carrots in a soup like consistency. I actually thought our server may have misheard the order. I love the crab cakes here, the burgers are great, the ambiance is very nice, I was just really surprised by the price for what was really just a bowl of chicken soup.

I enjoyed a great lunch at Heritage Grill, the service was excellent. The waiters were all very friendly, and made sure I had an enjoyable lunch. There pistachio muffins were wonderful, the food was fresh, and hot. Definitely a nice place to dine, will visit again, when I am in the area.

This place is overall great I have no complaints. I came here for a lunch on a warm summer day and ate outside with my coworkers. The service was relatively quick and our server Elena was great, quick and professional. I ordered the spinach & salmon wrap with the waffle fries and both were delicious. My coworkers seemed very pleased with their food as well. I will definitely be back especially since they are close to my office.

Two words. Stay away. Really bad service. Waited over an hour for food with two little girls. The food? Not good at all. When the food finally came, with no apology, it was bad. How can you burn, and I mean burn, a children’s burger? Asked for a refill on my coffee. Oh that came when we were finished. Sat there for an hour without a refill. Waitress took the ketchup off the table without asking. We had not finished with it. No class. And, two adults and two children, 50 dollars. REALLY? Never, ever again.

They had a different take on a Turkey Club. It was just delicious. Real Turkey(not deli) on the thinnest grain bread. It was a little messy, but if it tastes like that I will handle the messy part. Tomato Soup of soooo good. My husband had the Salmon wrap and he really enjoyed it.

Food was bland and uninspired. Had fish and chips with shrimp. Shrimp was from the frozen foods section of shoprite and the cod was soggy. Not what you should get for a $ 17 dish. Will not go back!

We’ve been here three times in the past six weeks. Each time we’ve enjoyed outside, sidewalk dining. It’s BYOB and that saves some $$$. Oh, each dish we’ve tried was ample for sharing and very good. We’ve had the blackened jumbo shrimp and scallops twice!

*3.5 Stars* Back when I worked in the area I used to frequent this place. Solid place to have lunch. For the most part the sandwiches were good. Chicken was cooked/seasoned well. Burgers were average. Fries from what I remember were waffle style. The only downside to this place was the service. Never solid, always spotty.
