Specialties

We specialize in selling cool bikes/​accessories and repairing any kind of bike that you need fixed. We Love bikes and want to do what it takes to make you a happy cyclist. We sell everything from training wheels and kickstands, to aerobars and clipless pedals.

We organize a lot of local rides and events in addition to an annual trip to Europe. Our local rides start at an entry level pace and work their way up. There’s something for almost everybody, road and trail. We are even known for teaching kids how to ride without training wheels.

History

Established in 1977.

Started as a BMX shop in our basement in 1977. Sold only BMX bikes for years, then got into adult bicycles. It’s a brother-​sister operation and we Love bikes. We can assist you in deciding what style of bike is right for you, based on what type of riding you’d like to do. What’s more, we can help teach you how to get a child off from training wheels. We are an all-​around great place to start your cycling adventure or maintain it. Come see all that we have to offer.

Two kids started a bike shop in 1977 in their parent’s basement. My brother opted to run the biz and I went to college. After graduating, the bike shop was so much fun that I never took a job in the real world. We are now in our 39th year and still speaking to each other!

I organize and lead a lot of weekly rides on the road and in the woods. I do race road and mountain bikes when the spirit moves me but what I really is enjoy helping others learn how to ride their bikes more effectively. I’m often found out on the road fixing someone’s flat or teaching a rider how to shift.

I’ve been riding since my bmx days as a kid… Never have I dealt with a more professional group of bike experts than the people at action. They were fair with me and went well past anything I have ever experienced in sizing and resizing both of my new bikes.
If your looking for a new bike or need yours repaired you’ve gotta stop in and meet theses guys.

My husband and I have been thinking about buying bikes for a while, and Action Wheels was recommended to us by a friend. We visited once with the intention to just learn about the bikes, and Jim was incredibly helpful. He spent about 20 minutes teaching us about the different types of bikes, and showing us the differences in models– all without being pushy or urging us to buy that day. We came back a week later and purchased our bikes and some accessories– and again it was a great experience! Everyone was really helpful showing us how to best use the bikes, got us set up with our bike rack, and even gave us recommendations for trails around the area. We’re glad we found Action Wheels!

I stopped into Action Wheels yesterday with a question about my brakes. I had a new bike that was giving me issues. It took a minute for the store owner to know that my bike was not the right size or fit for me. She went out of her way to make sure I had the right bike and fit at a price I could afford. (I had purchased my bike at another bike shop).
Everyone in the store is polite, helpful, knowledgeable and willing to help. I feel confident that I have the right bike and I know that, if I have any questions or issues, I will be taken care of.
I returned my bike to that other bike shop and Action Wheels has a customer for life!

I haven’t purchased a bike in 15 years and I’ve decided to start riding recreationally for exercise and with my toddler. I visited one of the local bike shops close to me in Cherry Hill and I was trying to be «sold.» I’m in sales so I know when someone doesn’t want you to leave without buying regardless of if your needs and wants are met. The next day I found Action and met the owner Jim… One of the best buying experiences ever! After listening to what I wanted the bike for, Jim did not try to upsell me by pushing me towards the higher level models or colors I didn’t care for, he just showed me bikes that fit my criteria, budget and I made the purchase! I was looking for a Specialized multi-​purpose and they are the place! Jim even apologized that Action is a little farther than my local shops, but I tell you what, with that kind of service I’d drive from NYC to do business with Action Wheels. The other shop even tried to sell me a «service plan» for tune-​ups and tune-​ups are free at Action. I could go on and on but I will just conclude by saying again, one of the best buying experiences I’ve had!!! Not to mention I got an awesome new bike:)

They only carry Specialized brand bikes, which I found disappointing. However, the staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable.
A great place to bring your bike to get maintenance. They have fair prices on parts and labor and finish the work quickly. Like any specialized store, there is quite a markup on accessories and clothing.
Action Wheels has been around for decades, I am glad to see they are still thriving.

Since moving to South Jersey in 2006, I have spent the last 6 years cultivating a relationship with Action Wheels. First, I was a customer for simple parts and service and with time I have purchased a number of bikes and accessories and have become a regular at the shop. The initial draw to Action Wheels was the frequent and well organized group rides which occur Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays during the regular riding season and Saturdays and Sundays during the winter. These rides created a cycling community for me and offered me the opportunity to meet and socialize with local cyclists and the staff from Action Wheels. Once I new the staff at Action Wheels, I was far more comfortable with the advice and technical know-​how that they provide. In a time when it is very easy to click around on the Internet and find good deals on cycling-​related products, I for one am more dedicated to shopping at an LBS that knows me, not only to support a local business but to support my local cycling community. Action Wheels is a great shop… just remember to be nice to the mechanics!

With so many online options for buying bikes and gear, It’s shops like these that still make me want to Buy Local. This family run shop has been in biz for 35 years and they really know how to take care of their customers. From helping you find the right bike to getting you properly fitted, they’ve got it covered. They also organize group rides for both road and mtb and offer something for everyone, from the newbie to the seasoned rider. The folks at Action Wheels really ride their bikes, so they speak from experience. Be it clothing and accessories, BMX bikes or high end carbon bikes, they are in the know. Even if these guys are a little out of your way, it’s worth the trip. Now go ride your bike!

I’ve been wanting to get a bike for several years. I finally pulled the trigger recently. My research led me to Specialized bikes. There is a dearth of bike shops around me. Expanding my range, I found this shop. I like their web site, so I took a ride up.
It is a Specialized shop, there is no doubt about that. But since that is what I wanted, it is right up my alley.
The staff is friendly and helpful. I don’t think there are any bargains here, but the gear is good.
I have been happy with my purchases here. Buying from a LBS, of course, gets one the service. I am liking that. They even helped me out with my GPS mount, which I purchased elsewhere.
So far, I am happy with Action Wheels. I haven’t gone on any rides with them yet, but hope to at some point. I like that they have beginner classes for riders too.
The store has had plenty of help on hand each time I have been in. Of course, there’s been plenty of customers too. That leads me to believe they’ll be around for a while.

I used to go to this shop all the time for my biking needs. They carried diamondback, cannondale, specialized, and a few other great brands. I went back after being away from cycling for a few years to find that they now carry only specialized mtb’s and I think they carry one or two other ultra high end road bikes.
The store is very clean and super fancy but there was very little variety of product, it was like being in a specialized display booth. I was so saddened by the «new» action wheels.
The staff was always fantastic, and I imagine they remain so, but a staff can only do so much with one brand and limited accessories. I hope that the ownership can start to return to the Action Wheels of old, and I would gladly give them another look.
