Athena’s replaced Dino’s, which was our go-to spot for basic sub shop items. We tried Athena’s for the first time the other day and I can say it was OK. It wasn’t anything spectacular. We got a cheeseburger dinner which always WOWed us at Dino’s with the amount of food it came from, and my husband was a huge fan of the fries Dino’s made. Athena’s cheeseburger plate is $ 9 and comes with about a handful of standard subshop fries which didn’t really seem worth it, but the cheeseburger and a side of friens on its own were $ 10.75. We also got a junior roast beef with cheese, and roast beef seemed a bit lacking, plus there was mayo mysteriously on the sub(I didn’t ask for mayo). It’s OK. More or less the same generic taste you might get from other local sub shops like Jake D’s or Season’s Pizza. Nothing special.

Athena’s Pizza & Roast Beef(formerly Dino’s Pizza) opened in September, under new management. The place is order at the counter with tables and booths in the cozy dining area. They serve up pizza(by the slice or whole pie 10″-16″-20″), calzones, salads, subs, sandwiches, pasta dinners, fried appetizers, desserts(baklava, cheesecake, cake), and Coke products from the cooler. The prices here seem pretty reasonable and lunch specials & daily specials are offered. I stopped in here recently for pizza takeout. I ordered the 2 Large 16″ Cheese Pizzas for $ 9.99(plus tax) deal. I watched the staff make my pizzas, chilled pizza dough already in the pan, then topped with sauce and cheese then baked in a conventional pizza oven. The pizzas were ready to go in about 15 minutes. The pizzas here were quite good and nothing like the previous pizza places in this space. The«yeast» crust had a soft texture, topped with a sweet tasting tomato sauce and topped with Grande mozzarella cheese. The pizza was not greasy and very yummy, as I consumed more than half of the pizza for my dinner. I will be ordering again from Athena’s soon!
