I have one tattoo by John that blows my other two out of the water! I have an appointment coming up for my second one by him and I’m even more excited about this one! His work is incredible and one of a kind and that’s what I love about it. I get my tattoos to symbolize something in my current life or past and his designs are taking those ideas and translating them into pure art!

I’m not a big tattoo person and it can be intimidating for someone who doesn’t have a lot of tattoos to walk in even for a consult. I was extremely happy from the time I walked in with my idea to now almost a week later. John is clearly an expert at what he does and gave great feedback and improvements to what I had in mind, placement, size, and so on. He made me feel extremely comfortable during the tattooing and was extremely nice. The tattoo came out better than I could have pictured. He’s a true artist, he’s quick to respond with any questions, and should I want anything else I won’t go anywhere else but here!

John Peters is a very nice guy who does pretty solid work. I have been there about twice for two different tattoos. Unfortunately Blue Heron lost a star for a couple of reasons. The shop is a little small and cramped(not dirty, though, he keeps a very clean shop), and the last time I was in there we had a very very terse discussion about a tattoo I wanted. His girlfriend or wife was in there and I’m not sure if because she was there he was acting kind of like a jerk or whatnot, but I wanted to leave him with an image(he didn’t need to draw anything) and he told me it would be at least 2 weeks and I needed to put down a deposit. The way he spoke to me was rude, but I had never had him speak to me like that before so I’m not really sure what happened. Maybe I caught him on an off day.

John and Mike at Blue Heron rock. This place may not look all pretty and flashy but ill tell you what. Service and quality… Service and quality. I have to laugh since they told me ‘you know, $ 130/hr isnt the cheapest around but you get quality’. Well, let me tell you when you’ve got a dude thats been tattooing for 25 years as a profession, you’re gonna get quality… And more than your money’s worth! I had a tattoo that was effectively a few thick lines on my arm i paid $ 250 for elsewhere. I wanted to add to it so John and i came up with a cool way to do it with an idea of mine, and some freehand genius by John… An hour and a half later ive got a full color masterpiece covering ½ my forearm… Wife and I’s 3rd appt made(she loves it there too)… Many more visits to come. We’ll be customers for life. Amazing detail and work, VERY clean place, MORE than reasonable value, and awesome people… What else does a tattoo place NEED?!

I got inked the first time at Blue Heron Tattoo. John is an incredible artist. He took the design that I created and added depth and detail to my vision. I have no regrets and look forward to getting more ink at Blue Heron!

A few years ago I attended the Boston Tattoo Convention hoping to find an exceptional artist to do some work for me. Lucky for me, the one that I liked the most was not located in some far flung corner of the globe, but rather next door in Derry. John Peters formerly owned and operated Skullduggery Tattoo in Brooklyn NY. In 2000 he relocated to NH to raise his family in a more pastoral setting. NY’s loss was NH’s gain. I showed John a design with intricate Celtic knotting. He estimated 3 hours for the project at a reasonable hourly rate. I booked an appointment. On the day of my appointment he executed the project flawlessly, artistically, in the time estimated and at the rate quoted. I have no complaints or regrets and I have received many compliments.
