Creative Learning Center is a part-​time preschool program for children ages 2 — 5. Our central location in Derwood, MD, is convenient to Olney, Rockville, and Gaithersburg. We also offer fun, week-​long summer camps for children ages 3 — 5.

History

Established in 1989.

Creative Learning Center, Inc. was established in October 1989 as a privately owned Maryland corporation to provide a conveniently located high-​quality part-​time child development program for Olney area families.

For its first eight years, CLC operated at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Olney. Beginning in October 1989 with 31 children in two classes, the program expanded over the years to 139 children in ten classes. For the next two years, CLC operated at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Derwood, serving 106 children in nine classes.

Beginning in July 1999, CLC entered into a five-​year lease agreement with another Olney church community, New Hope Presbyterian Church, in its new church building on Bowie Mill Road. Here, CLC offers nine classes for 120 children.

Meet the Business Owner

Anne M.

Business Owner

Anne Moriarty is founder, owner and director of CLC. Born in Minnesota, she grew up in Alaska, Arizona and Colorado. She earned a bachelor of journalism degree at the University of Missouri-​Columbia and later completed the 64 hour course in early childhood education. She has 26 years experience teaching young children and 22 years experience directing child development programs. After approval in April 2008 as a Certified Conscious Discipline® Instructor, she provides training in Conscious Discipline® to parents and early childhood staff.
