Highline is nationally and internationally recognized as a premier community college, a reputation earned through the development of an institutional culture that values innovation, globalization of curriculum and community participation. The college offers a wide range of academic transfer, professional-​technical education and applied bachelor’s degree programs.

Founded in 1961, Highline was the first community college in King County. It is one of 34 community and technical colleges in Washington state. Alumni include former Seattle Mayor Norm Rice, entrepreneur Junki Yoshida and former Washington state poet laureate Sam Green.
