There is legitimately nothing wrong with this place. I mean Iowa City/Coralville location is slightly better… GOHAWKS. Food is good, never have had poor food. Where they fall short is the wait staff. Usually pretty slow service. If you wear yoga pants to work, you should move around as though you can do yoga…

Dined here last Saturday before the Iowa Energy game and had a horrible experience. It was 4:30 and the place was already busy and clearly understaffed. The hostess/waitress was really rude and when she said our table for 8 was ready she just threw the menus on the table. It took 15 mins for our actual waitress to take our order. My husband and all three kids got fries with their order and they were so cold and soggy that even the kids couldn’t eat them dipped in ranch. They brought my salad which had cold chicken and after asking for a knife three times I just gave up.

Cheap beer, awful service and lower than average quality bar food. Did I mention the cheap beer? Walked in on a happy hour on Thursday. Really great special on drinks that day — half-off drinks! First time having Stella Artois in a can, so that was a plus. The servers were fairly slow and aloof, and it was fairly empty when I got there. As more patrons showed up, the mediocre service only got worse. I’ve sampled some of their appetizers, and I would NOT recommend the spinach dip or the cheese dip. The fried pickles were aiight.

Food was ok — fries were not so flavorful — but the selection of local craft brews are good and the staff was great especially with my kids.

BF’s sandwich was ice cold, potato soup was basically potato chunks in a little bit of stock, service was slow, but decent… we were the only people in the restaurant. Found out they’re taking the cheese soup off the menu. Used to like this place, but really disappointed this time.

Walked in here without knowing anything about it but the Walkens Welcome sign outside was an immediate good sign. Plenty of local brews available and the food was great. Also received great service along with good tips on what else to hit up in the area. If I were to come back to this area I’d go again.

My friends and I were heading to an event downtown and after seeing the wait at our first choice for dinner, decided to head up to Quinton’s for a quick bite to eat. We walked in and waited for someone to seat us… and were never seated. No one even acknowledged that we had walked in. Yes, it was a Saturday night but a simple«We’ll be right with you!» from some of the wait staff who walked pass us and the«Please Wait To Be Seated» sign would have been great. We took the problem into our own hands and sat up at the bar. This is where the review gets better — the bartender was great! Answered our questions, took our order and checked in on us several times. The food was good — although for $ 10 I was expecting a little more than bagged pretzels with my sandwich but I was reminded that«deli» is in the name of the restaurant. The Reuben was great; one of the best I’ve had actually. I’ll be back!

In terms of food, it’s a 4 star event. The service was bad, and thus the lower rating. We came in from the cold yesterday and waited for a few minutes for our friends to show up. We were taken to a table that was so rocky we nicknamed it the earthquake table. Our waitress recommended we move to a table one over, and we happily did.(Why have such an unstable table in the first place?) Our waitress took our drink orders and gave us time to look over our menus. When our drinks came, we were short a water and had to ask for another one to be brought to the table. Not a big deal, things happen! However, our waitress was almost non-existent. When the host brought our appetizers out, we had to ask her to get our waitress because we had been ready to order our main meals for about 15 minutes. We ordered the Mr. Jalapenos Poppers, Buffalo Dip, and the Frickles. Poppers: There were VERY good. Not too spicy, which I enjoyed. Round balls of ooey-gooey cream cheese that are deep fried are always bound to please. Buffalo Dip: The dip itself had good flavor, but the chips that came with it were stale. Frickles: Quality. The pickle inside was very good, and the breading was perfect. A+ It took a long for our food to come out, which is probably due to the fact that our waitress took forever to take our order in the first place. When my bacon avocado burger came, it was missing the avocado(kind of important since it’s in the name of the burger!) and it was cooked incorrectly(well done instead of medium). I ate it anyway because at this point we were running late for our event of the night. The sweet potato fries I had with it were good. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but the service left a LOT to be desired.

We’ve been here a few times. We really liked it at first. The food was good, we loved the jalapeño balls, the nachos are decent, the spicy chicken philly is good but the more we go the worse it all gets. The service is slipping. The same bartender we’ve had several times ignores our empty glasses while he’s doing something on his phone. The food has been downhill too. My boyfriend did not like his burger, he said it was missing some toppings. My smokestack sandwich was not good and also missing the biggest ingredient for me which was the smoked gouda! How can you leave that off? Also the«Russian mustard» is not very good, it tastes sickly like sweet spicy honey mustard. Hopefully they can get their crap together because it has a lot of food we like and the service has been good, just hit or miss lately…

We were looking for a chill place with good food and drinks before a show at Wooly’s. This was a great find. We were seated immediately and the service was fantastic and the food was great! We had cheeseballs(your classic cheeseballs), the jalapeño poppers(must get… they are AMAZING), and a couple burgers(southwest and the grilled cheese burger). They were done the way we liked and enjoyed our meal. There was a bit of a wait as we left, however, it didn’t seem to bother anyone. Oh, also, clean bathrooms.

Neighborhood bar. Cold drinks, o.k. service and bar food. Nothing crazy. Great place in between bars.

Quinton’s was part of our regular sports watching rotation. We always enjoyed the food and the service. Something has changed. Service was poor and served with a side of irritation. The beer selection is half of its former glory. When the bartender took our order, he had us yell it to him across the at so he could enter it at the console. How hard is it to write something on a napkin? I will say the onion rings were as good as any I’ve had recently. EDIT: it was 2 stars but I just watched the bartender pour a VERY strong drink for a young woman and hand it to her saying, «I’m going to get you drunk and take advantage of you.» Rapey bartenders=1 star

Decent bar food. We found this place while on the wait list at Zombie burger. Quick to get a table and the menu looked great. Wait staff was average. My daughter ordered a bread bowl soup but when it showed up at the table, we were told that they were out of bread bowls. Isn’t that something the wait staff should tell you when ordering? The menu said the sandwiches come with avocado but it was actually commercial guacamole like the kind they have at Subway. Yuck! That was annoying. Otherwise, average place to eat. I don’t think I’d go again unless I was in a hurry and didn’t want to wait for a table somewhere else.

I really like this place in the East village! They often have groupons and that’s how I found them. Their food is really good, got a southwest burger(don’t really remember the name) and a side salad. Prompt service the moment you come in. Food and drinks are reasonable priced. Probably my favorite place for bar food!

The food can be summed up in one word… AMAZING! Had the spinach artichoke jalapeño poppers… WOW! Their sandwiches and Spuds are so yummy. Hubby had the Beef and Brie sandwich. Said it was the best thing he has had in years. Service was attentive too! Would recommend this to everyone

This is a collage-style sports bar/grill but it’s no where near a college. The service is fine. Very casual but not interesting attempt at décor. We go for the good sandwiches, potato soup and the great wings.

My party consisted of 4. My daughter and I arrived before the others. I tried to order 2 drinks but they were out of it. I asked if they were out of all liquor or just parts of the drinks as both had several ingredients. Waitress wasn’t sure. She was a decent waitress but not well trained. I ordered the t.a.c and was not impressed. It said avacado but was more quacamole. Not fresh avacado. My suspicion is that it was getting old so they needed to use it, added some other stuff to make it last. My daughter ordered chicken strips and that was out. 2nd time going there and 2nd time wishing I had went elsewhere. I won’t go back. Waste of time and money.

Quinton’s regularly offers Groupons so I went ahead and jumped on one so I could give them a try. Stopped in on a Saturday evening when both Boy’s State Basketball was going on at Wells Fargo and ISU was playing in the Big 12 championship game on TV. Compared to some of the other places in the area Quinton’s wasn’t as busy. The tables and booths were mostly filled with ISU fans looking to watch the game. This is an older building re-purposed into a restaurant. The floors are concrete and the beams and ceilings are exposed to give it an old feeling. Plenty of TVs scattered about the walls so it’s good for catching a game. Also I noticed back near the bathrooms were a couple of dart boards. They have around 20 beers on tap and they do a fairly good job of keeping them stocked with both local and regional craft beers along with the macros. They also have an extensive list of cocktails as well. So it’s a nice place to go if you are looking for a place that has a variety of choices to drink. The food mostly consists of apps and deli sandwiches although they also have hamburgers, salads, and mega-topped baked potatoes. I opted for a sandwich with turkey and bacon that had their signature homemade peppercorn dressing on it. It was good, although I would almost prefer it as a hot sandwich than a cold sandwich. My wife had a nacho baked potato and it was quite large and filling. She seemed to enjoy it. The fries with my sandwich were kind of cold and limp, which considering the amount of people inside I was shocked that they weren’t hot and fresh. Kind of a turn off. We did order fried pickles for the app and they were quite good. Six large breaded spears which came with both ranch and a spicy concoction that I wasn’t sure what it was but it was very good. Overall not a bad place. With the amount of Groupons they have out there I will be sure to go there again. Unfortunately the cold soggy fries held this back from a 4* visit.

I have had 3 star experiences here and I have had 5 star ones so lets call it a low 4! Staff has always been great, good beer choices, and they always keep your waters full! The place is always clean, but sometimes super loud! I have had salads here and heck I even ordered a Peanut Butter and Jelly once! You would think a PB and J with a Beer wouldn’t be that good, but man I wish I would have tried it sooner! It came with a ton of fries and totally hit the spot! Not a lot of vegan options here, but it’s a good spot to hit up if your in the east village looking for that typical bar evening! Nothing out of this world but nothing really bad either! I have also ate at the Quinton’s in Iowa City and I think I prefer the Des Moines location. Plenty of tv’s to watch a game and the lay out is nice and private with high back booths!

My order: Pint of Ranger IPA Loaded grilled cheese burger w/a dinner salad instead of fries. Ate the dinner salad first. It came with good, fresh greens, shredded carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers and even a little shredded cheese. Dressing came on the side. It was yummy and worth the extra $ 2 to sub for the fries. Burger came cooked as I ordered-medium, and was also delish. Husband wants me to add that he loved his combo Reuben w/curly fries… as well as the $ 7 shot of McCallan 12 year he paired with his pint of Ranger. Good vibe, good music(not obnoxiously loud), and a really great server named Meredith. I will definitely be back… and when I am, I think I’ll try one of their Moscow Mules.
