Don’t go!!! I live in the area, and took my two boys here twice. First time was pretty sad. I asked the lady to give my older son a 1 on the sides, and a 2 on top. She did a two all around and he had long hairs everywhere. Went again today, and I chose a man to cut my boys hair. I thought maybe a dude will be better. I thinks it’s worse than last time. I gave them two chances. I will never return! If you want to look nice, please don’t go here.

If ever I get compliments on my hair (a rare occasion), I make sure and give credit where it is due. Of course, I am referring to the legion of fine barbers and beauticians moving people in and out of the Des Plaines Cut And Roll with military precision. Businesses come and go in downtown Des Plaines, but the $ 5 Cut & Roll is an insanely great deal. This place strikes just the right balance by avoiding the $ 18 Friseur, the cheesy «just for guys» Sport clips while retaining the old-​fashioned barbershop experience. No appointments necessary, very short wait times can be expected, be sure to bring cash; no credit cards accepted here. $ 5 cut & roll is here to stay!

This place is a joke, they are rude, while cutting your hair they stop to talk to each other, I asked for a specific cut and they screwed it up. If there was a way to give them a negative star I would.

I have a short female hairstyle and went in for their $ 5 haircut requesting «just trim over the ears and the neck, leave everything else as it is.» I wouldn’t have gone for a $ 5 haircut for anything more complicated than that, and yet she ended up buzzing my hair without my request or consent. Then when I went to pay for the haircut I didn’t like she said $ 5, I handed her a $ 10 bill, and she gave me $ 2 as change. I don’t know what kind of math that was, but I will not be going back. Sigh.

This place is great. First time here. I barely had to wait two minutes for me to get a haircut. Most of the places I wait a minimum of half an hour. I got for razor shave and the guy did in 10 minutes. To top it off, this is one of the smoothest head shaved I’ve ever had in my life. The staff is great the service is great. Absolutely polite. I will be coming back.

I went to cut&roll today and I was a happy gal walking out. Everyone there is so very friendly, it’s wonderful! I was helped as soon as I walked in and I’ll be paying them another visit next time my hair needs fixing. I recommend this salon, you will be in and out-​happy!

I love this place! I take both my kids here to get their haircuts! My daughter gets her haircut by diana, she knows exactly how I want her hair done. My son gets his haircut by the older man! He’s really good and if I show him a pic of what I want for my son, he does it perfect!!! my fav place!

Pretty good, but PLEASE USE NECK TISSUE… The neck of the cape was wet last few times.

I’ve been going to Cut n Roll for a few years now and I’ll keep going back. Their $ 5 hair cut can simply not be beat. They always have enough stylists on hand so you don’t have to wait long. Personally, I always go to Lala in chair 6, on the left when you walk in the door. Lala does a great job — she’s very thorough and consistent with her cuts.

In and out and never looked better! loved it!

I’m reviewing on behalf of my 27yr old boyfriend. He has liked ONE haircut he’s received in the whole two years we’ve been together. He’s gone to many different places based on where he is when the urge to get a haircut strikes. His mother recently convinced him to try «the $ 5 place» that she and his dad go to and he verry reluctantly agreed. WELL, major shock… he LOVED his haircut! And while I’ve never thought the other cuts were THAT bad, cut n roll really did a fantastic job. It’s trendy but so clean and even. He’s definitely going back. We’re really impressed!

Not that bad. It was fairly clean. Immediate service. My haircut was done well after a little bit of explaining. I’m happy.

Ask for Vani for extra service. This place is the best deal in town for snazzy cuts. Vani goes way beyond a simple cheap haircut. He takes care of his customers

Just went into this salon. I understand that their service prices are below average, but they are still selling a service. I walked in not greeted by anyone, so I stood there awkwardly until a woman raised her eyebrows at me across the loud and busy salon, which I took as an invitation to tell her what I wanted.
I was a walk in, and I wanted to get an all over color. I color my hair red, and it fades, so I need to do all over, not a root touch up. I explained this to the woman (who was apparently my stylist) as she sat me in her chair and she goes «So you want touch up only?» I politely explained again how I need an all over to refresh my color. I also tried to explain to her the problem I normally have with hot roots. She looks at me blankly for about 10 seconds and she then tells me $ 25 for touch up, $ 60 for a color.
I don’t trust any stylist, as a new client, who does not even have the time to do a proper consultation to do anything to my hair for free, let alone pay $ 60 (cash only– but they have an ATM in the salon, lovely) plus tip to color my hair. So I told her I wasn’t comfortable with having my hair colored there and walked out. Who knows, she may have done a lovely job, but a smile and a consultation would have gone a long way.

Visited the place today and had a perfect cut, within a short duration of 5 minutes.
While the place did need a good sweep to clear off all the hair, it did not hurt, in view of the bargain price of 5 $… She even gave me a valuable suggestion on what kind of haircut to choose from… I will go there regularly and suggest all to try it once before doubting the place…

I took my nephews and dad to get a hair cut here and explained to the lady how the kids wanted their hair cuts. My dad and the kids all left with the same hair cut, all shaved off. I examined the kids head and noticed a spot of hair the lady missed. I’m definitely not happy here

You just can’t beat the hair styling you get at Cut & Roll — and for $ 5. You are generally taken quickly and get a great haircut.
My husband and I both go to Cut & Roll and have been going there for over a year now. We ask for Artenia and get the style that we request.
They have many other services however, I haven’t tried them. Don’t let the low price keep you away!
