I went here with some friends today during a break from class. We sat down and ordered after quite a few minutes of waiting. There was only one server in the whole place, and she was handling carry outs and the dining room, so the wait was understandable. After we got our food which did arrive quickly after we ordered, we discovered two hairs in two separate dishes, a salad & a chicken shwarma. There was also a bug in the garlic sauce brought out to the table. The staff did pretty much nothing about this, and I would caution anyone going here to check your food because this was pretty shocking and disgusting. There are better places to eat.

Good… I ordered a Chicken Shawarma and Rice. It was fresh and Hot and tasted good. My biggest complaint is they are hit and miss on their hours. There have been a few nights I have stopped to pick up a bite to eat and they were closed like hour or two early. Call ahead first before you drive down.

I decided to come check out another place on campus other than La Shish. I ordered a chicken schwarma with fries. Fries were good, pita was ok I guess… the chicken tasted mixed with fresh and OLD, ugh. Service was ok-pretty informal… might be wrong but I almost let them know but had a feeling no one would even care, so instead here I sit with my empty plate writing this review. First and last time here :/

Please don’t go here. The manager is a complete asshole. Yesterday was my fourth or fifth time coming here, but I have to say it will most definitely be my last. I’ve never had such a bad experience with a manager before. I was lured in because of a text message from Flock I got saying for that day only, they were having a $ 3 for any pita deal. Why not? So me and the 6 – 7 friends I brought with went to the register where the manager was working and made it clear that we all wanted to use the deal. From here on out, he seemed to be giving us a sour attitude. My friends and I wanted to sit down, so the manager cancelled the order and told us to go ahead and have a seat and the waiter will be with us. The waiter came and I again made it clear that we wanted to use the deal they were having. He wasn’t aware of the deal, so went and talked with the manager, who apparently said the deal is for carryout only. Did we just get duped? Did he really just try to trick us out of the deal by telling us to sit down? My friends who were all already sitting said whatever we’ll just order full price, which is probably what the manager intended to happen, but I wasn’t going to have it. The waiter told me it wasn’t a big deal and that I should just talk to the manager and he was sure that he’d just let me sit down with my friends with the carryout. So I went back into the carryout line and ordered another pita. After ringing me up the manager loudly whispers to the waiter to make sure he told me I couldn’t sit down if I order carryout. When he gave me my pita he once again reminds me that I cant sit down at the dinner tables. So I’m like w/e at this point, irritated that they’re being so stupid about this rule especially when all my friends, the ones that I brought to his restaurant, are already sitting down and the rest of the place is basically empty. I don’t want to start any conflict so I just try to quickly eat my pita in the area where people waiting for their carryout stand before I would go back and join my friends. The dickwad of a manager comes around the counter and tells me that by standing there I’m disrespecting him and his entire establishment. Wth? I wasn’t even doing anything. He then starts to harass me, basically calling me cheap because I was trying to use the deal that they offered to try and save a $ 1.50 on a pita. 1) I’m a college student, yeah I try and save every dollar if I can 2) you offered the deal dude 3) you don’t talk to your customers like that 4) I brought all these people to your empty place to eat 5) I’m not cheap. Once he sees I’m getting mad, he tries to pull a fast one by saying«I just came over here to say you could sit with your friends». Are you kidding me? I gave him back the sandwich I paid for and my friends and I left. We will not be coming back. F-k you and your establishment.

This place made my day a little bit sadder. Had their meat shawarma(in the era of Taco Bell, the name itself is somewhat alarming – why not say lamb like most other establishments?) and it was the absolute worst shawarma I’ve ever tasted. The sauce tasted like mustard and completely overwhelmed the flavor of the lamb, and with the accompanying pickles accentuating that taste, it felt like I was eating a rolled up, depressing hamburger. I spent less than five dollars on it, and felt ripped off. It was awful. To make matters worse, the staff doesn’t even pretend to acknowledge your existence and the cashier has the aura of someone who was abducted and thrust into the food service industry as a pre teen to pay off the debt of her parents, and has yet to succeed 30 years later. She looked miserable, she sounded miserable… maybe she caught it from the food, cuz that was miserable too. Will not return, unless I’m really drunk.

I’ve had the food here before, and it’s passable. What’s NOT great is the service. I arrived 45 minutes before their posted closing time, only to be told I could not dine in. When I went to order carry-out, I was told they would only prepare salads or wraps– the rest of the menu was off-limits. 10 minutes before closing, this might make sense… but I could have easily sat, dined and left before closing. It was rude, and I will not be back at ANY time of day. Updated to change star rating: 6÷5÷14

I’ve given this place several chances. Terrible customer service. No one greets as you walk in, the food is below average. They offer flock tag deals but pretend to not know what they are so you might pay full. Not the friendliest bunch.

I got 2 wraps: fetush, hummus & felafel wrap and Byblos wrap. I had the first one first-it was probably one of the worse things I ate lately: over salted, tasting like salt with bitter aftertaste, I was pretty three out half of that wrap disappointed because I love all of the ingredients but just not here… and I rarely throw out food. I’m glad I gave Byblos wrap a chance-it was quit tasty just have plenty of napkins ready as the delicious juiciness does drip all over. If I didn’t try the first wrap or had lazy unhelpful cashier, I would have given this place 4 stars. I haven’t decided if I’ll go back yet. But if I do, I’ll reevaluate the experience.

So after a very disappointing second visit to this establishment I had a chance to visit here for a third time and have lunch with the owner of Byblos. He was very nice and open to suggestions about the restaurant and we were able to clear up some of the previous issues I had encountered. Strangely enough… none of my previous issues took place while the owner was there. The chicken was tender and moist. The hummus had flavor and was delicious. The rice did arrive a little cold but the issue was fixed immediately and I was left to enjoy my meal. I also enjoyed the passion the owner had about his business. It is always great to be able to provide positive input to someone who is more than willing to take the information and run with it. I realize as an owner you cannot possibly watch all your employees at all times. I hope Unilocalers all over the country can contribute and make owners aware of issues that exist in their businesses both positive and negative. based on today’s experience you get 4 stars Byblos!

Ordered crushed lentil soup and a chicken fattoush salad. Lentil soup was carrot filled but good. The chicken on the salad is the same chicken they give you if you order chicken shawarma — big pieces of seasoned chicken slices off the rotating spike. However, most of the chicken slices arrived partially cooked… The server was professional and nice about the meal. She removed it from the bill and offered multiple complimentary things. I declined, being put off by the raw chicken. An odd experience, especially since fellow Wayne State students frequent Byblos all the time.

It’s OK. Service was very good and I like the location — it’s nice to have in the neighborhood. But plop this place down on Warren Avenue in Dearborn and it wouldn’t have a chance. Food just isn’t up to par with what you can get at any one of many Arab restaurants in Dearborn. In sum: It’s not terrible but it’s not fantastic either. It works for a quick Lebanese lunch fix if you happen to be right nearby.

This review is for carryout only. Byblos seems to be a mixed bag. We’ve gotten it a few times and some things are great, others not so much. The highlights: chicken shawarma, za’atar pie, lamb & artichoke. Each of these was hot, fresh, juicy, and HUGE! Some things really are way bigger than you’d expect for the price. The not so good: falafel. How disappointing! I got the falafel pita wrap and it was a total disaster… the falafel was nearly burnt black, and there was next to no tahini on my wrap so it was just a dry, crumbly mess. And the surprise hit: bacon cheeseburger! My husband said it was one of the best burgers he’s ever had, which you wouldn’t really expect from a Middle Eastern place/turkey bacon. All in all, they have some solid dishes but the fries are meh and the falafel sucks. Oh, and if you carryout, beware — 1. the fries basically steam in their box so they’re really soggy and chewy, and 2. if you get a dish that comes with fries, ask them to put the fries in a separate container at least… mine were in with some vegetables and the bottom layer of fries was a liquefied paste by the time I got around to eating it. Or hey, just get the rice! Byblos isn’t the best of the best when it comes to Middle Eastern food but it’s solid enough and economical so I’ll keep trying.

Waiting 15 minutes just to get something to drink is ridiculous. I watched a table full of guys get seated, served, pay their bill and walk out long before I did. Really?

If you know what Mediterranean food should taste like, you would know this place is a far cry from that. And the meat is cold like it was out since sunrise. When I asked the server about it, there’s no apology or suggestions to get me something fresh. All she could come up with was ‘Should I heat it for you?’ If I was used to eating straight out of the fridge, I’d be at home now. Place looks good, but the food and service is disappointing. Only 1 star. You find way better places at Dearborn any day.

I’ve eaten at both locations I enjoy the service, the owner is very kind and great at service. I enjoy the turkey burger and fries and the shish tawook. I must say though the turkey burger at the new spot was the best damn turkey burger I’ve ever had. I’m talking Sam Jackson, Pulp Fiction tasty burger good.
