It was Beyonce night, which means everything within a several block radius of Ford Field was slammed. I had barely eaten throughout the day and I needed some sustenance if I was going to make it through 2.5 hours of the Formation World Tour so I turned to the trusty Unilocal app to see what the options may be. And hooray – I was reminded of Chickpea in the D, which was the perfect option for my friend and I. Chickpea in the D is a walk up window, which meant no fighting for a table, and when we arrived there was no line. Hot damn. Yes, we did have to eat on the corner sitting in front of the YMCA but it was a lovely night and the people watching was outstanding. From what I understand they sometimes do have a few small tables out but we were there about 20 minutes before close so they might have taken them in for the day. Anyway, the menu is mostly wrap sandwiches and definitely veggie friendly(although there are several more meaty options as well). They also have hummus with some dipper options(veggies, pita, pretzel rods, etc) and Mediterranean nachos. I was eying the latter(tortilla chips topped with hummus, tomato, cucumber & feta cheese) but ultimately I went with the Veggie Delight wrap because it would be easiest to eat on the move. My friend got the same. It took a few minutes to get our order but when I took my sandwich out of the bag it was warm and toasty and filled with hummus, tomatoes, cucumber, feta cheese and basil(basically the nachos I had initially wanted but in wrap form). It was simple but delicious and I wolfed that thing down so fast. And for 6 bucks I felt like it was a super steal! You can also make it a combo(with chips and a drink) for an extra $ 2. They also have smoothies if you’d like to get even more servings of fruits and veggies in. Cheap, easy, and portable. The perfect fuel I needed for the night and it would be a great option for lunch or an early take out dinner on a busy work night as well.

Great wraps with very fresh toppings. I would drive an hour to get the Mediterranean Nachos! Owner David is friendly and keeps the place very clean! Great to see places like this popping up.

The spicy turkey wrap and smoothie was good but the smoothie could have been a little thicker.

It’s really upsetting that I have to rate such great tasting food poorly. The line is always ridiculously long at ChickPea, which I understand. To avoid this, I’ve been paying extra to order ahead on . I even give them an hours notice. After four times of ordering online and having to wait up to 20 minutes for my food to be prepared, I will not be returning :-(

Whats not to like. Fresh made while you wait pita sandwiches stuffed with a variety of meats and veggies. Hummus is good needs a bit more garlic imo, served with enough pita bread to like your plate clean. Super friendly staff make this little 20 sq ft place a go to lunch spot. And now they serving fresh tomato soup and grilled cheese sammmichs.

I love this place. The hummus is alway fresh and its a great lunch spot. I had the spinach feta hummus yesterday and honestly it was best hummus I ever had. Would give it six stars if I could.

I had a day off for lunch and was in the city and decided to give this place a try while strolling downtown. I was happy I did. They have a pretty small menu of options which is good for the indecisive like me. There is no inside seating or parking, just a few tables outside. It’s made mostly for carry out. I got the Sicilian and the Cuban along with the special hummus of the day which had garlic and onions in it. The whole bill was under $ 20 which is very reasonable. They give you a hearty portion of hummus and bread for $ 5. The hummus was fresh and tasted great on pita. The sandwiches themselves were grilled and hot. The Cuban was fantastic, better than the Sicilian, which had some less ripe tomatoes on it. Both were still worth getting again. Next time I will be getting the Mediterranean Nachos because they look fantastic on Unilocal. Overall: reasonably priced and quick sandwich shop to hit on your lunch break.

I have been there once as my wife is a vegetarian and she really wanted to try it out. She found the wraps decent. For me they were above average. The service though was friendly. Might try this place again

This place is solid. If you aren’t a hummus fan, this place will change you. It changed me. I’ve been here about a dozen times, eating a veggie delight pita right now and I feel compelled to write this review. If you are looking for a quick, tasty, healthy place to grab lunch while in the city, add this to the growing list of great options. There are a few tables out side, but it’s more of a grab ‘n go spot then a place to sit and eat lunch.

Great spot, I pass it a lot walking my dog. I was hungry and had my dog with me so I stopped here. Super friendly, quick and my Sicilian wrap was delicious. Pretty good for $ 6. Definitely will be back!!!

grabbed two wraps for lunch + a veggie smoothie for so cheap. The wrap + juice were at $ 9, the wrap only was cheap as well but don t recall the price. Service was fast, out of a small window in the wall on a quiet street in Detroit. The wrap was filling, tasty, with plenty of stuffs inside. I enjoyed it really much and it is clearly a spot where I can see myself go more often next time I am there. The smoothie was nice though the straw was a little too narrow to get content through the tube.

All I can say is YUCK! Long wait: My friend and I were the only customers they had, it took over 30 minutes to put together a caprese wrap. Mozzarella cheese with mushy tomatoes wrapped in a soggy/wet pita bread! Their«hummus of the day» was ginger basil something, the worst tasting hummus I’ve ever had! I did get one acceptable item in my lunch bag, the bottled water! Waste of $ 8 … never again!

Love the Turkey Wrap with a side of soup. Hummus is good too! They are walking distance from my office and a great little place to grab carryout and go sit and eat in a park(weather permitting) They are in a little tiny side of a building on John R just east of Woodward. You can’t miss the lime green paint. Try them! Support local.

Great little hole-in-the-wall hummus and wrap shop near the Madison Block. Most of the ingredients are sourced from Eastern Market and everything is made fresh daily. It’s nice having a place near work with cheap, healthy food. I just wish I didn’t have to wait in the cold while the food is being made. Hummus is good and not overly smooth from adding extra oil, which restaurants tend to do. It comes in a fairly large soup-size cup so I’d recommend getting a small if you don’t want leftovers. I love the Italian Caprese Wrap although you have to eat it really quickly, otherwise the water from the mozzarella and tomatoes makes the pita soggy. The Turkey Wrap is also good and does not have this problem. The Mediterranean Nachos are a nice twist, with feta, cucumber, tomato, and hummus, for toppings. The chips can get a little salty if you eat the whole thing in one sitting. Daily specials include soups in winter and daily hummus flavors. They also have smoothies.
