Falafill

I’ve been meaning to eat at Falafill for some time as a colleague in Ann Arbor had mentioned it to me about a year ago. I commuted from Ann Arbor the the auto show today and finally was able to eat there and I was very glad I did. The owner is extremely friendly and gracious. The falafel is the best you’ll get in the area, far better than anything in Ann Arbor. It is fresh, light, and crispy. The owner let me try the lentil version of the falafel which I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle difference in taste. I had the platter (5 falafel, 5 meza, and a sauce) and all the mezzas (hummus, chick pea, mint cabbage, a variant of jerusalem salad) were fresh and healthy. The portions were quite generous but I did not feel nearly as full or bloated like I feel when I go to a popular mexican burrito chain.

Great concept but poor delivery. I don’t know if this place falls apart at the end of the night, but it really felt that way. I waited around for 20 minutes with just one person in front of me. There one points when the wait staff disappeared and just left me waiting while working on my order.
The falafel only is very yummy! I ordered the classic falafel wrap and was initially pleased. Ultimately, the wrap was was too minty for my liking and the tabouli was gritty… It seemed fresh, but I wish I way have traveled a bit further for Bucharest.

This place is a gem in Midtown! The staff was helpful and explained the procedure of the establishment. They have this quality where they genuinely care about their job and what they represent, which is hard to find! The food was fast, but fresh at the same time. The best of both worlds.

Fairly new to detroit and I’ve tried Bucharest grill’s chicken shawarma as well. I don’t think I can say enough good things about this gem of a place. Happened to drop by based on a quick Unilocal search while in midtown. I do not say this lightly when I say the man behind the counter, Kassam, provided the BEST customer service I’ve ever received.
Chicken shawarma — one of the best shawarma’s I’ve ever had, not too salty with the chicken, which is what I found at Bucharest. Filling like you’d expect and the ingredients are FRESH. you can tell they had just made everything this morning in the kitchen, it does not get any better.
Falafel — the classic falafel done WAY RIGHT. Curry Falafel was nothing like I’d had before and the Classic falafel ball was just delicious, didn’t fall apart and was not a bland ball like other places I’ve tried. Very very flavourful, I could eat a whole plate of those falafel balls just by themselves.
Hummus — I decided to just do a quick review the hummus just because I’m a huge hummus freak and this hummus was to die for. Perfectly seasoned, beautiful, delicious, homemade hummus.

Please, please do yourselves a favour and come here. I think I may have just found my new lunch spot!

I highly recommend this place! It’s the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. The interior is clean and bright. The food is super fresh — new falafels were made at least twice while I was eating. The guy who was working there, I think he may have been the owner, was super helpful in explaining the various foods and how the ordering worked. He also gave us multiple samples to try as well, as it was our first time there.
My boyfriend and I ordered a beef platter and a falafel bowl which was very filling. I definitely could not finish a platter on my own! There is a lot of food that comes with it.
As we were eating, I noticed a daily specials board on the floor by the door that listed various specials on each day of the week such as half off something with purchase on Monday, etc. I didn’t notice these when I ordered, but I would definitely check these out the next time as they were pretty good deals.

Consistently fresh, always delicious and friendly service!!! I’ve eaten here many times over the past 6 months and I am never disappointed. I love the falafel and the chicken and although I really enjoy the wraps, my favorite thing to order is a platter. You can select your protein and five different mezza (side dishes) plus a sauce. They are happy to let you sample items that you’re unsure about. My favorite items besides the basmati rice are the minted cabbage, hummus, roasted veggies, chickpea salad and the fried cauliflower. I love their tahini blended with garlic and lemon and their very potent garlic sauce (I try to avoid that if I have an after lunch meeting). I always find a parking spot along Willis — although I’m a rather bold parker and I take liberties that many don’t often at the risk of getting a ticket. I do know the meter maids patrol that street so be warned, although I’ve been lucky enough to avoid a ticket so far. I usually get carry-​out so 5 minutes illegally parked isn’t a big deal.

Falafill is the Chipotle of falafel wraps, but better.
The facility is modest, but bright and clean. The wait staff has always been friendly, and quick to serve. The food is some of the best cheap Mediterranean I’ve ever had. Not only can you customize the ingredients, with delectable and flavorful choices like minted cabbage, fried cauliflower, and Armenian salad, but they even have a curried falafel, which is my favorite. Falafill has quickly replaced Bucharest Grill as my go-​to for Falafel.

First let’s start out saying how clean the place is. That’s ALWAYS important!
The food is so freaking delicious and fresh! So many delicious choices all made from scratch with mostly local ingredients. If you’re a meat eater this place will most definitely satisfy you! If you are a veg this place is off the freaking charts; so many non meat choices, as well as protein choices. So many healthy options! Can’t wait to go back! The staff is super helpful, and knowledgeable about the choices offered, as well as how it is prepared.
After speaking with some folks in the dining area I learned that they are extremely community aware,
and are extremely charitable, and believe in giving back to the community.
Get you falafel on at Falafill!

This place was so good! I needed a quick lunch during my study break and I had already heard great things about it from a friend. There were a lot of great options, everyone was friendly, and you get a lot of food for a great price. They also apparently make all of their stuff fresh in the morning and also use local resources. I got a wrap and it was so filling and so so good! I will definitely go there often since it is also just a short walk from WSU’s medical campus.
They also have a student discount! I’m sold.

Friendly waitstaff and decent falafel for a decent price. The location is convenient and the prices reflect that. There’s better Middle Eastern food in the area by far.
If I’m out of options and short on time I’d head here for a quick lunch, but It’s nothing I’d go out of my way for. Just another chain restaurant.

First time here and definitely not my last. When I first saw how big my wrap turned out, I figured there was no way I would finish it… but it was so delicious, it is now gone and I am now full!
Sadly the construction looks to put a big damper on parking, but there is still a way in. I believe Willis is the side street you can park on or Garfield is an option too.
Customer service was nice and welcoming, got the introduction spiel of what is recommended and basic overview. I was told its the place to be and I just thought «thats what Unilocal said».
I ordered a wrap in which I added one protein, their marinated chicken (yum), 3 mezzas– quinoa tabbouleh (double yum), roasted jalapenos and fresh tomatoes and automatically included was pickles and garlic sauce. Omg it was so delicious, so many good flavors and they all worked well together.
Inside it is a little cozy, it was not too busy when I came in but I can imagine it gets full. Customer service, atmosphere, cost and definitely the food is why you should come check it out!

Loved this place. As my friend described it, it’s the Chipotle of Middle Eastern cuisine.
Went there on a Saturday late afternoon and it was dead inside. The workers said Saturday’s are slow but weekdays are very busy. (Side note they are closed on Sunday). It is small inside so on busy days you may just need to take it to go.
The menu is pretty simple, you can choose from one of their signature wraps or do a BYO platter or wrap, which is what I would suggest. The platter, which is what I went with, allows you to order one «protien» and five «mezzas». When you look on the «food bar» (set-​up like a Chipotle or Subway) The mezzas and proteins are color coded.
I had the chicken for my protein and it was tender, juicy and flavorful. Not one fatty, chewy piece. For my sides or as they call them mezzas I ordered: Minted cabbage, roasted cauliflower (so good), hummus, Quinoa tabbouleh (a must get) and the Armenian salad (a must if you like spicy things). Everything I had I strongly recommend. Some other options include rice, roasted veggies and Baba Ghanough.
You then select your sauce, which can be placed on the side and have the option to top your platter with pickles or pickled turnips.
Great place, friendly staff, clean inside and everyting tasted fresh!

I love this place right around the corner from my apt and the food is good and fresh always!!!

Found this little gem on the hot and new list on Unilocal.Really glad I did too. The food was exceptional, and knowing it was our first time and that we found it on Unilocal,the service went beyond what you’d expect at a fast casual joint.
We were in town for Movement and looking to try something outside our normal sphere. Falafill fit the bill. I thought with a name like Falafill they might have a large variety of falafel options, but there were only two: traditional and curry. They were both delicious. They let me sample the curry since I ordered traditional.
Hearing that we were from out of town and found them on Unilocal,they really gave us a great experience. They let us sample several things, gave us a side of a chickpea salad for free, and were very attentive. Our group ordered several different options off the menu, even trying a platter, pita and wrap between us.
Of particular note were the delicious teas they had. A rose and a mint of some sort. I could be confusing the styles, as its been a month, but these were really fantastic and refills are free for them. If I lived in Detroit, I’d be hitting this place up all the time.
edit: it might be interesting to note that there were only 11 reviews when I started my draft, and now that I’ve posted it, there are 37! This place is taking off, and it’s no fluke!

Me and two of my co-​workers went to Falafill for lunch one day and loved it. Everything from the food to the service was impeccable. I had the protein with five servings from the mezza bar — and I got the chicken, roasted vegetables, roasted jalapenos, cucumber salad, baba ghanoush and cabbage. It was all delicious. I should have gotten extra chicken though because I’m a big eater and with all the lack of starch (because I eat way too light sometimes) I was still a little bit hungry. But they are huge portions of all servings. Everyone working was extremely friendly and there was plenty of room to sit inside.
I’d love to go back and eat all the good stuff :)
OH — and it’s extremely reasonably priced just FYI.

New place in midtown. Good service, my two visits have been met with consistently good food and friendly staff. Prefer the options and the food to La Palma. But maybe I’m just bored by the old place.
Definitely warrants a check out and let’s hope they can keep it going.

Loved it. Had their specialty chicken shawarma and dare I say that it tasted healthier and even better than Bucharest Grill.
I’ll definitely be coming back for that, their pomegranate homemade lemonade and peanut chips!

So before this point I had been to many middle eastern restaurants and tried falafel. It was hard, it was cold, it didn’t have flavor, it tasted microwaved. Now I can tell you I’ve had the real deal here, and it tastes awesome! Steaming hot, soft, almost crumbling in your hand, and most importantly flavorful and fresh!
I’ve had many different things from Falafill and their emphasis on freshness is no joke. Everything tastes amazing. The greens/​salads have so much flavor I swear they just picked it from a garden.
Just wish they were open Sunday!

Had a delicious dinner @falafilldet tonight. This place is like a Falafel Subway, you can choose the protein, toppings and sauce for your sandwich or platter. I really wanted a sandwich but went with the platter because I wanted to try everything. The original Falafel is delicious, reminded me of Aunt’s falafel (she makes the best). The halal marinated and grilled chicken they offer may as well have crack on it. It’s juicy tender and addictively delicious! I didn’t hold back on the sides or their sauces either and they also have Lebanese Sweets too. We really liked this place and we will be back soon.
