This is a great place to shop for something different. I go way back with Zana, when she was selling Spike Lee items back in the day. I recently bought a nice cap and a House Music CD from there. I try to visit every time when in the downtown Detroit area. Zana really takes the time to spend and talk with customers.

you are getting sleepy, when you awake, your will want to come downtown and spend your money… go to spectacles… I love coming into this place and spending money with Zana. She holds it down. She seems to know a little about everything going on in the neighborhood and can chat it up. I love all the books she has in a glass case by the door. My favorite is a book about YBI and their influence on the city in a not so distant time frame. She amazing taste, puts out her own clothing line, and stocks some gear you wouldn’t normally be able to find like J Dilla t-shirts. Small business owners really need to follow her lead and come back downtown with boutiques like this. One store at a time, detroit gets back to normal. check out a bit of j dilla here. .

I didn’t do much shopping when in Detroit but this was easily the best store I went to. Right off the bat they were playing some classic house music that only my friend recognised. The shirts displayed on the wall included their classic Soul Detroit number as well as the J Dilla Stussy edition. A turntable set-up in the middle of the store is always a great touch — knowing that some fine deejays must come in and throw down a little set for the store. Zana(the owner) was lovely. We talked about the Detroit/Toronto connection including Frank N Dank. She also gave me a deal on the shirts I bought, which I will wear proudly in Toronto. Along the back near the counter they have finely picked CDs and DVDs including a live Otis Redding concert video. Great store, great selection, great staff.

It’s almost a shame that Spectacles has a web site. I mean, it’s a great thing since it allows Detroit ex-pats like myself to get the newest hometime pride t-shirts. But there’s also this annoying ironic aspect that hipsters from other cities have about Detroit gear; and, really, if you’re going to knock Detroit in an ironic way, you should maybe have gone there first(and having a web site lets these folks purchase irony from afar; not to mention lets suburbanites shop for fashions without traveling into the city and supporting other shops around this one). I’m just saying. The irony in the irony is there is nothing ironic about the love the owners of this establishment have for Detroit and a desire to see the city rise up into prominence again. Located in the quickly revitalzing Harmonie Park sub-neighborhood of downtown near Ford Field, I stumbled upon Spectacles as part of the Shop Detroit downtown event on Thanksgiving weekend. I went in looking for Detroitcentric t-shirts, but was amazed at the selection of hats, pants, and other accessories they had(they also carry local Detroit independent music). I’m not really into hip-hop or club fashion but for those who are, this is an amazing little boutique. So love for the 313 from the 773(formerly of the 248) and even though I would only be able to make it into this store once a year or so, I will be purchasing from the web site soon. And if anyone wants to get me a great Christmas gift(again, I’m just saying), I’m a medium or large and I really like red. Though if I spot anyone in Chicago wearing that shirt ironically, I will be both sad and happy. Sad that people still knock Detroit in their fashion choices and happy that a purchase of the shirt from Spectacles will be putting money into a locally owned Detroit business.

I remember visiting Spectacles when they first opened. Not sure how I came across this store but I’m glad I did. This is a great boutique for all things unique and Zana makes sure it’s that way all the time. I ended up purchasing what is known as a paperboy hat. It was the perfect accessory to my jeans and the t-shirt I bought. I like this store because it’s not typical. It’s competitive in price, the service is awesome and you are sure to have something no one else has unless they too shop at Spectacles. I look forward to shopping here! I suggest being here on Friday nights with the live DJ!

Located in Harmonie Park, near Ford Field and Comerica Park, Detroit’s Spectacles offers customers the best in hip-hop and street fashion. Although tiny, Spectacles offers a big punch with racks and shelves full o t-shirts, jeans, hoodies, and accessories. Spectacles offers patrons fashion forward clothing form independent and underground companies and designers. The store is always clean, and offers shoppers the newest lines at competitive prices. In addition, the the street wear Spectacles often has get togethers with local artist and d.j.‘s on the weekends. What I like about this independently owned boutique is that they have fully immersed themselves into the Detroit hip-hop culture. And the store own is a woman which is awesome. So, if you’re looking for fresh designers, impress your friends and grab some threads at Spectacles.

I love this hot, urban boutique. It’s very fresh and laid back. With the camo gear and fatigue hats, I half expect to see Dead Prez chillin’ in the corner. Zana is especially wonderful — she is the owner and has an amazing sense of style. She pays attention to your needs and can give really great recommendations. Every Friday night they have a DJ, I haven’t been there for that, but I might after hitting D’Mongos. What’s awesome about this boutique aren’t just the clothes — which have a hip hop/soul edge on them, but also the selection of music and books. Props for carrying Monica Blaire! I love that woman. They have T-shirts that celebrate Detroit, African American culture… get your 313 Detroit shirts here. You can also get your much needed fatigue gear in one stop. It is hard to just browse in this space, you’ll probably want to buy everything you put your hands on. Except the 48 Laws of Power, I hate that book.

I love Spectacles and I love Zana! Great one of a kind t-shirts, accessories(sunglasses too of course!), handmade jewelry, music, books and great, funky hats. A real treat in Harmonie Park! I always bring my out of town friends here and they load up on goodies.

One and only store owner Zana has a wide array of clothing line from independent/underground designers. I’ve found and bought numerous T-shirts here, that received rave feedback from friends. They also have music, books, and accessories. Zana introduced me to many great Neo Soul/Funk artists that I had never heard of. The store often hosts cool parties that feature good music.
