Falkon Construction

Roots from our neighbor’s tree caused cracks in our driveway and also made one section start to lift, so we figured it was time to put in a new driveway. We chose a few places to call based on Unilocal reviews. We ended up selecting Falkon not only because their estimate was the lowest, but because Val (the owner) made a good impression on my wife and me.
From the initial contact, communication went very well. Val returned phone calls in a timely manner, came out to do the quote, provided us with an estimate, explained the work to be done and answered our questions in a timely and professional manner.
We scheduled the work to commence Monday of Thanksgiving week. His crew showed up promptly on Monday morning to demolish the concrete. Tuesday they did the prep work and Wednesday they poured, all according to schedule and in line with the contract. They also put in a root barrier between our house and our neighbor’s, to deter future damage.
The crew members worked hard and were friendly and nice. It was a pleasure working with Val and his team; my wife and I are very pleased with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to use him for future work (although I hope we don’t need to have anything done) and recommend him to others.
I see there are some negative reviews on the Unilocal page but all I can say is everything went well with our job. Val did what he said he was going to do according to the schedule we agreed on. We never had trouble contacting him.

Val was able to fit me in within a week after contacting him. He showed up within our agreed time frame, took measurements, and said it normally takes them a week to send a quote. It’s been over 2 weeks and we still haven’t received an estimate. He seemed very nice & patient when I met him, I just don’t appreciate the lack of professionalism to provide the quote when he said he would or even a follow up to let me know whether or not a quote was still on its way. Taking my business elsewhere!

I wanted to share an update on the work that Falon did almost two years ago! As I shared previously, while the did a FABULOUS job in inslalling pavers in our back yard. our front big driveway continues to be an EYESORE… far worse than it was prreviously with the original driveway. We were advised, that we needed to be patient for the concrete to ‘cure’…Well, its now almost two years. and whatever needs to be cured… should have been cured by this time! While Val was conscientious to send the manufacturer rep of the concrete company to our hime our as soon as I expressed concern about the appearance of the driveway. and the unsighly tire marks as well as stains. the rep supported Val’s contention that there was nothing wrong with the concrete!
So if nothing was wrong with the concrete or its installation then why after spending thousands of dollars on what we had hoped would be an improvement over our old driveway, are we so disappointed. with increasing stains as well as tire marks on our driveway. It was also suggested earlier that these tire marks comes from our car’s tires… THESE ARE THE EXACT SAME TIRES that we always had with our old driveway… where no marks were ever seen.

Iven been in touch with Val for the past year expressing continous disappointment., I have sent him photos of our driveway. His last suggestion was :
…“Maybe do something a little fancy and color stain it. I have a buddy… I often refer him to customers that can’t afford to replace their old driveway. He does great work reviving old slabs… although yours is not old… maybe I can send him over for a consultation.
I DID REPLACE MY DRIVEWAY! :(SO NOW I NEED TO HAVE TO SPEND MORE FUNDS AFTER WHAT I HAD SPENT TO ‘REVIVE’ MY TWO YEAR OLD DRIVEWAY.
DON’T THINK SO!
Once again, I need to reephasize that this company has an outstanding work ethic. Val’s entire cew was most diligent and conscientious in their efforts… These efforts paid off in the back of our home [ pavers]; sadly not so in the front with our very visible ‘new’ concrete driveway!

I read the reviews here also. Anyone who click less than 5-​Stars must have misclicked. In simple terms. An excellent job at a fair price by an outstanding company!

First class company! Val and his crew recently finished a full renovation of our front yard demolishing a planter and installing a new retaining wall and stairs with flagstones. I am 100% satisfied with the job. Val and his foreman Charlie had terrific suggestions to improve our original design and came up with creative solutions to some challenging situations. the work was done quickly and free of defects. Everyone on the job site was courteous and professional. I would not hesitate to use Falkon in the future and would definitely recommend them to a friend in need of stone and masonry services.

Excellent company. Val knows what he is doing and is trust worthy. They built a 70×6 foot retaining wall for me. Had to remove 5 huge palm trees that were in the way. Did an excellent job and was reasonably priced.

We chose Val and Falkon because of his low-​key, honest appraisal of our current backyard situation. I had a basic plan in mind and 2 other companies told me how they were going to do the pavers in our backyard without regard for what we wanted. Val listened, understood what I wanted and he and his crew made it better than what I had envisioned. Timely, honest craftsmen. What more could you want?

We just used Val for two big jobs at our home in zip 90 035: one 35 foot masonry wall and another large concrete slab. He was fantastic to work with, responsive, on time, and customer focused. He took care of all permitting with the city and was a joy to work with. It is hard to find wonderful people like this to take pride in their work and truly strive to meet high bars of quality. I will definitely recommend Val to all of my friends and look forward to working with him again.
