Bad service

Everything has been fine with them with the exception that… after doing some research and calling other places… holy mole they ARE WAY OVERPRICED! I used to pay LESS out of pocket without insurance. When I went there I ended up paying a lot more than what I’ve ever paid for glasses and contacts and this was with insurance.
So if you decide to go there, get the pricing before hand, it’s a unpleasant surprise.

Very disappointed and extremely overpriced.
Vision insurance plan changed and needed to find a new optometrist. The eye checkup with Dr. Zapper went smooth enough with the usual… reading letters and looking into different equipment. But when it came to settling the bill… what a shock! The eye exam cost was fixed with a copay (no big deal) and the contact lenses themselves were bit overpriced than online, but again okay since insurance was covering much of it. Then there was the «fitting fee» of $ 143.00! I want to make it clear that I have astigmatism in one eye and wear toric lenses. Recently, the other eye seemed blurry at night and sure enough Dr. Zapper says the other eye also developed astigmatism and recommended toric lenses too. That was about it. Same name brand I’ve been wearing, no trial lenses to verify prescription, nothing. So where does the «fitting fee» come in? There was actually no fitting service at all. It was the eye exam and then placing an order for my six months supply. Zapper’s assistant said the insurance doesn’t cover much for the fitting and that was my out of pocket cost. Not pleased at what seemed to be an arbitrary and inflated cost, but paid. I need to see… right?
What disappointed me was that I later called around to couple of chain places and they quoted me around $ 55 for the fitting. Yes, they all charge a fitting fee, but at about ¹⁄₃ of the cost. I ended up cancelling my order and getting a refund, but now I need to pay for another eye exam as Zapper would have already charged for the exam portion. And he wouldn’t order the contact lenses unless I paid his fitting fee. So lesson learned, ask for all cost before getting service. And watch out for this type of subjective upcharge.
