As a part-time resident of the area, I wanted to like Moon Pie, I really did… but unfortunately I can’t. After having been there a few times, I just can’t see myself going back. Put this place near any urban center where there are more than a few dining options and it wouldn’t last a month. For starters, my drink order has been completely forgotten twice. The service has been consistently polite, but very slow and uneven. They seem accustomed to making apologies for delays in the kitchen. My pizza margherita had dried basil on it instead of fresh basil, which I find strange for a supposed Farm to Table restaurant and is certainly not a proper margherita. The other pizzas I’ve tried are better, all seem to have a nice crust. The waitress hyped their risotto so my wife and I thought we’d give it a try. We found it to be bland and nothing special. It too came doused with a mound of dried spices on top as if the chef tried to add flavor at the last minute. The restaurant has been quite warm inside each time, perhaps because the pizza ovens aren’t well-ventilated enough(?) and the interior is straight 1978 Pizza Hut. If you want a quick, delicious meal for less money in Dillard, you still can’t beat La Cabana.

Stopped in and ate lunch with the family here. Pizza was good and the ingredients tasted fresh, depending on how you like your pizza, you might want it well done. Others in the group had spaghetti and meatballs which was fantastic. Also great desserts, cheesecake was terrific. Wish I would have snapped a few photos. Very clean inside with a friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

I heard the pizza was good so we went to try it tonight. We got the large godfather pizza. Overall it was ok. They said it’s a 16 inch but it’s not. It was more of a 14 inch. The crust was light, fluffy and had a good chew to it. Give it 4 stars. I thought there was too much sauce on it which I felt overpowered the pizza. Give that 2 stars. The toppings were plentiful but something was salty which ruined the pizza for me. Also had a Greek salad which was ok. A little pricey. Best pizza is still Mama Dar’s in Clarkesville. Don’t know if I will go back.

My husband and I ate at Moon Pie two nights in a row when we recently vacationed in Clayton. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quaint and cheerful, and the service excellent. And the food — very special! We especially enjoyed the fired mozzarella balls with a honey, balsamic glaze(wow!) and the perfect brownie dessert at the end(BOTH nights — how decadent)! The salmon/risotto special I had on the second night was also exceptionally good! We’ll be back!

This review is about the service. Called to order a pizza to-go on a Friday night around 8:20pm. The restaurant hours state that it closes at 9pm. The girl answered the phone and said they were closed. Last time I checked you could cook a pizza in 20 minutes or less. If they were closed then why did she even answer the phone?!

Not just pizza! Many wonderful delectable weekly specials! You can dine inside or out. And don’t miss out on homemade MoonPie, chocolate cake filled with marshmallow cream covered in chocolate sauce with whipped topping. See my tip for other menu samples. Laid back ambiance with casual dining.

Charles Madry is a genius in the kitchen. Having turned his considerable talents to making great pizza, may we say that ‘great’ only begins to describe the tantalizing taste sensations produced by Chef Charles! Our only negative is that we live a ‘far piece’ from the restaurant, but fortunately, the pizza heats up well when we pick it up and bring it home for dinner. I can assure you, Pizza Hut and Dominos have seen the last of us! Moon Pie Pizza is amazing!

Excellent pizza. Very fresh ingredients. I love no red sauce on pizza, it’s all natural tomatoes… love the thin crust.

This is my new favorite local«go to» for great pizza in Rabun County located in Piggly Wiggly plaza! Not the prettiest location, but who cares if your pizza is that good! I consider myself a pizza snob, so I am always nervous to try a new place and I am glad I did. I ordered the Garden Fresh pizza and was Deliciosa. The crust was spot on, a lite sour dough, veggies fresh and cheese not greasy at all. Very clean eating pizza if there is such an animal. It fills you up, but doesn’t leave you feeling like you have a 5 lb. brick of flour and grease on your guts either. Service was excellent and accommodating. I am now curious to try a pasta dish next time, but I have a feeling that Chef Charles won’t disappoint my palate there either. Thanks Moon Pie!
