Bernie was wonderful. She took the time to help the new stylist work on my hair. Bernie did most & that was comforting. She made sure it was done right and moved about the salon multi-tasking while remaining friendly with everyone that was in the shop. $ 35.00 for wash, cut & style. She recommended products(even ones she didn’t sell), and she gave me some helpful hints that were truly appreciated. I will definitely go there again. They also fit me in last minute. Lynn

I have continued to have Karen cut my hair and it has been a pleasure! She is attentive and so nice. I never have to wait more than 5 minutes, if at all. The hair washers are thorough as well. It was kismet to find both Karen and Curl Up and Dye!

I was looking for a new place to get a good cut, so I tried this place in Lower Mills. I asked to have my hair to be taken down to about an inch, but I wanted to grow the sides and back. When I got home I found I still had a mop on top. Maybe she misunderstood? Two weeks later I couldn’t stand it so I went back to see if they would fix it. I got the same person. I explained again. This time she practically scalped me, but left about 8 hairs hanging over each ear. She sheared off the back and was about to go at my head with clippers when I stopped her! Never again.

When you call your regular hair stylist and find out that they have moved, and you’ve no idea where they’ve moved to or if they’ve just shut shop for ever– this can be a bit overwhelming the few minutes! And that’s just what happened before I discovered ‘Curl Up & Dye’ AND Daniella there, thanks to Jen my friend! Driving from Lexington to Dorchester just for a hair trim was worth the effort, considering you feel good about your hair for months after! Versus going to a Super Cuts and having your hair landscaped/butchered! Knowing how to use the scissors — yes. Understanding your client’s needs — yes. Doing a good job & being patient while at it — yes. Reasonably priced.

I find it very convenient that this salon is located across from a retirement home. The work done here is very basic and it seems as though they have mastered cutting and dying hair for older women. They have now included tanning and spray tans which is not my thing. My mother got spray tanned and it came out evenly. The haircuts are nothing to write home about. They are very very basic. They are friendly and a bit overpriced.
