Inn at West View Farm

A really lovely place. Much more than just a tourist spot. Worth taking the drive if you live far away. The inn itself was lit up in the quaint and gorgeous way that only Vermonters can do — all soft white lights, green garland, and candlelight makes for an intimate setting. The owner is warm and friendly, the staff knowledgable. The restaurant is Asian fusion which is odd considering the setting but unique and the food is incredible! Our favorites — the fish wonton taco, chicken and mushroom dumplings. Gourmet Asian food. Must try…

We enjoyed a MOST MARVELOUS dinner with great friends at Westview Farm tonight. Ray has driven his menu intentionally to exciting, exotic asian flavors and textures — small plates and mains — but maintains a selection of more traditional «New England» dishes anchored to the Inn’s Dorset location. Christal manages the restaurant brilliantly, assisted by a super– welcoming and thoroughly professional service team. A+ experience all around. Certainly one of the best restaurants in Southern Vermont.

Had a fab dinner, owner hosts was just great, waitstaff just what you want the Chef owner came out see how everything was, nice touch! Food to die for, very hip fresh exciting menu? tired of seeing the same old offerings at «High End» restaurants, this place was so refreshing. Décor is old school Vt inn but I don’t need trendy interiors or anything but great food and great service from attentive servers. A must to visit of about 5 or so places here in S VT.

Went here for a drink with my husband and high school friend. The hostess appeared irritated that we wanted to sit at the bar for a drink. She didn’t offer to tell us what beers they had so we had to keep asking what else they had (nothing on tap). Despite having one table in the dining room, they wouldn’t serve me because I had a temporary ID due to changing my last name. Won’t be returning mainly due to the poor attitude. We felt like she didn’t want our business.

Wow this was a great dining experience and worth the slight premium.
First, such a interesting contrast between this beautiful old B&B/Inn environment and the modern Asian fusion cuisine (they do have more classic French country entrees but we went with all Small Plates).
Also, service was perfect all around.
The staff recommends 2 – 3 small plates per person, which is right on. All four of us had 3 pp and we were full and had two doggy-​bags as well — 10 instead of 12 would have been adequate but we wanted to try more items.
All of the food was great. It just so happened I finally had the famous Momofuku pork belly buns in NYC a week earlier and I would say the similar preparation was better at West View, IMHO (pork was too gelatinous a Momofuku).
Desert was equally inspired and delicious.
Can’t wait to return to try more dishes!

This is creative, sophisticated cuisine, a taste of the Far East with a little Manhattan tossed in for good measure. Although the interior is bland, the food is outstanding. We ordered about 8 small plates enjoying the individual textures, the beautiful presentation, the freshness of ingredients and the unique flavours of each dish. The experience was fantastic, a revelation as every new dish made its way to our table and at the end, not as expensive as restaurants nearby. Truly the one of the best restaurants in Southern Vermont.

A real NE inn! No fancy wide screen TV’s in the room or wireless phones, just hospitality and character. I really felt at home! Very clean and inviting. We had breakfast (which was excellent) but went elsewhere for dinner. Judging by the menu at Westview and my meal that I had elsewhere, I think I will be trying out dinner next time!

Go for the food. Delicious menu– well prepared. We had the short ribs which fell off the bone. The salmon was out of this world. The ingredients were fresh.
The décor could use a bit of an update but simple and definitely brought you back in time…
If you are visiting the Manchester/​Dorset area then it is a must to make dinner plans at the Inn at West View Farm!

Delightful meal. We are staying outside of Manchester and the Inn was highly recommended. We were not disappointed. Unquestionably the best meal we have had in the area.
Friendly but attentive service. They were quite gracious with our party of 7 that included a six-​month-​old. Good wine list. Menu consisted of classics (short rib, roast chicken, salmon, etc) with an Asian flair.
It was pretty quiet the night we were there. After we had dinner we moved to the living room and had coffee by the fire. Fabulous!

Family have lived in Dorset for about 10 years now and this has recently taken over as my number one spot to eat it Dorset. Little plates are a must try and really everything is pretty damn good. Chef creates something new everytime I’ve been and love the asian twist some of the food has. Last time in I was there with my girlfriend and we split a appetizer of shrimp encrusted shrimp with a thai sauce, and then short ribs and quail dishes for dinner. Everything was so good, and would be inclined to possibly order the same exact thing next time we went. You won’t be let down here. Great place to have a nice dinner for two or have a group meal.

without a shred of hesitation I can say this is hands down the best meal we had in our 5 days in the Dorset area. take it from a food snob — this place is a «must eat.» !
the chef has a knack for perfectly balancing flavors. the scallops were perfectly cooked in a delicious broth, the homemade ravioli with local mushrooms was literally the best I’ve ever had. Many dishes have an asian fusion flair. they are inventive, delicious, and perfectly executed. The wait staff attended to our every need before we even realized we had a need. we asked for wine & food recommendations, followed her suggestions, and she didn’t let us down.
If we were’t leaving town tomorrow, we’d be back for all our remaining dinners.

The best in Dorset and Manchester area in fine dining. My wife and I go to only ONE place when we want a melt in your mouth experience. The chef, Ray, is extraordinary. He has elevated the expectation of a wonderful dining experience. The other restaurants pale in comparison.
I’ve sent many friends and business acquaintances gift certificates to the Inn at West View Farm to express my gratitude and they always rave about the best restaurant in Vermont.

This is a beautiful place to dine and I imagine that the rooms upstairs are very nice. The common rooms downstaris are beautiful. Having read highly favorable reviews about the Chef, we were eager to try it for dinner with good friends.
We had a lovely, large window table. The dining room was slightly formal (though khakis and golf shirt would be fine). The menu is small, which I do not mind, because I assume everyhthing is very fresh.
It all was, but it was also a little bland. Chef is known for his short ribs — which were very good, but lacked the deep complex flavor of say, a superb slow roasted beef cheek or bourginon. I could not detect any burgundy or any alcohal in them, and I think they needed it. The fresh halibut was a bit dry. I wanted to LOVE the food, but I didn’t. A warm peach tart for dessert was nice, but not well presented and rather skimpy. They could use a good pastry chef.
Some dishes had a good presentation, others quite poor. But had it all been delicious I would not complain. I would say this is a good place for folks who like very uncomplicated food. The service was good. Menu is pricey.

Quaint inn for romantic dining of gourmet food. It’s a jewel in Vermont! Next to Chantecleer, this restaurant is up there in ratings. I’m all about the food and this chef strutted his culinary skills.
The place does look a bit old and rundown but looked exactly what a house in the countryside of Vermont should be. I’ve met restaurant patrons who are willing to drive from Manhattan to just go to this place. They boasted everything on the menu is delicious. I say the food is really delicious but the desserts can be improved.
So, why such a good rating? for one thing innovative… had a dish called tuna spring roll (using tuna sashimi in a crispy spring roll wrap with a bit of wasabi dressing)…I’ve been to many Manhattan restaurants and I thought this was interesting. Sure enough, the couple came from Manhattan so I could see the skill in his food. second, the braised short ribs was melt-​in your mouth flavorful meat (his specialty). and third, the waitress made us feel like at home.

The experience of this small, chef-​owned inn begins and ends with the food. The interior has not been updated on the whole for perhaps thirty years, and it looks it. However, the guest rooms are bigger than most in the area and the food is perhaps the second-​best in all of Southern Vermont, next to the Chantecleer. The wine list is fairly priced and well-​chosen even if it is limited. For parties of roughly 8 – 12 ask for the private dining room!
