Honestly, why buy bread at the grocery store when you can get a fresh loaf of bread at Harvey’s without all the preservatives and junk that they put in bread at the grocery store? They also have the BEST donuts!!! Best birthday cakes!!! Always can get something cute and fun for the kids for any holiday! Oh, and if you stop in and get a dozen donuts for your boss and coworker’s on your way to work it’s a sure fire way to get them to do something for you!

I’ve lived 20 away minutes from Harvey’s Bakery my entire life and today was the first time I had ever been in. We walked in to find three lovely ladies bustling behind the pastry counter and what looked to be quite the line waiting to get their sweets. What we didn’t know was that the people in «line» were waiting to get into the coffee shop, a little confusing but we figured it out when one of the women behind the counter called us out to ask what we would like. The display of donuts, cream filled turnovers, cakes, pies, breads, etc was amazingly beautiful, I had a hard time choosing just two things, but I managed to get out of there without eating the entire display case! We decided on two maple round donuts, a regular glazed donut and a raspberry cream filled turnover. The maple round was to die for, unlike most places around here that just slap a maple glaze on top of the donut, this was more of a maple frosting and it was amazing. The glazed donut was simply delicious, so fresh and tasty. I have not eaten the raspberry cream turnover yet, but by the looks of it, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it! If you’re in the area, you must stop in, if not just for some good conversation with some women who truly enjoy what they do, but for the absolutely delicious pastries.

Just ran in for coffee and a pastry. Not as big of a selection as I would have expected, but it was also mid-day. I did get a coffee(again a limited selection), and a maple square. The coffee was alright. The square was good.

I enjoy supporting local businesses as others do. We’ve never been disappointed with anything we’ve picked up there. Cupcakes, breakfast pastries, cakes and seasonal specialties… have yet to try the café though!

The maple squares are out of this world! The pastry display is truly mouth watering, everything looks so great. Service can be wonderful, or not so hot, depending on the day. Regardless, totally worth it for the amazing baked goods.

We like to support local businesses so we stopped by last weekend to give it a try. When trying a bakery for the first time, we start with a standard item like cookies. Those should be easy for a bakery so we tried chocolate chip cookies. The sales clerk said they were soft and delicious. This could not have been further from the truth. They were flat, dry and tasteless. Completely disgusting. Additionally, the facility is old and run down. They need to clean and update the facility and their recipes. If you would like a good bakery in the area, I strongly recommend Beach Pea in Kittery. The service, atmosphere and food are delicious!

Picked up some sticky buns, cheese Danish and eclairs. The eclairs were good but needed a bit more chocolate for my taste. The cheese Danish needed a little less cream cheesey taste but was very fresh. The sticky buns needed a bit more flavor in the bun itself and not just on top but again were very fresh. Service was polite and efficient.

Been going here since i was too young to even remember. The Maple squares are awesome. We purchased our wedding cake here, it was outstanding. I try to go to breakfast in the dining room as much as possible, its great and delicious.

Step back into time, in this sweet family owned establishment. Stopped in for a snack after a long day of travel — 3 homemade blueberry biscuits for $ 2.25! 3 blueberry muffins/$ 3…I’ll take both please. Stopped I’m for breakfast the next day — veggie omelette, 2 choices of hot sauce and a grilled blueberry biscuit — New England heaven. Stopped in one day three — had to get blueberry goodies to take back to the family. They packed the blueberry loaf and biscuits with extra care — made it through my run through the airport and pushed under the seat in my carryon bag. Can’t wait to go back in February!

I tell ya what, Harvey knows how to make a mean pastry! We ordered a half dozen different items from the shop and they were all decent. The fudge brownies and cupcakes were mediocre, but the raspberry twists, cheese danish, almond flavored walnut danish thingy were winners. Apple Cider donuts were a bit dry, but I can imagine they would be good dipped in hot cider/coffee/tea. I didnt know they had a little sit down breakfast dining room as well, next time we will try that

Their breakfast is ok, but they don’t even have Sourdough? What’s that noise about? Seriously though, this place is OK, but nothing special. Not to mention the«not open for sunday breakfast» thing.

When passing through Dover, I love stopping at Harvey’s Bakery. They have a decent serve-yourself, to-go coffee selection and I can usually be enticed by one of their sweet bakery treats. The only thing I have been mildly disappointed by are the cookies, which I found to be overbaked. It’s a treat to pick up a loaf or two of their homemade bread — so much better than what you can get at the local grocery store bakeries. The ladies who work the bakery counter are always friendly!

A real bakery, just like in the olden days! Where they bake bread, desserts, cakes, whatever! And it’s staffed by friendly people! This is way better that the bakery department of the local supermarket, and it’s connected to a coffee shop. The selection at 3PM today wasn’t overwhelming(as you’d expect) and I’m just glad they were open. The only reason I don’t give this bakery five stars is because I haven’t tried enough of their stuff to be fanatic, but I probably will.

What can I say? This place is a Dover institution. With a greasy spoon on one side that is great for breakfast and lunch, and a wonderful bakery on the other side specializing in cookies, pastries, donuts and custom cakes. Don’t go anywhere Harvey’s.

Oh Harvey’s, breakfast and cookies of my youth! Harvey’s still has the best little breakfasts and holiday cookies. And probably the same waitresses that worked there in 1986. Love it!

This is the best little place in New Hampshire! We visit friends in Maine and eat at Harvey’s as often as possible. I even have had baked goods shipped to Florida just in time for my morning break! The cream horns are to die for!

Walking into Harvey’s is like taking a step back in time, a time before big grocery stores with their generic bakery departments came to town. If you are not careful, you may get a sugar rush as your eye moves up and down the cases. Everything is made fresh and, if you get there too late, you maybe looking at slim picking. Personally, I highly recommend the doughnuts.
