Specialties

We are both an established Fine Art Gallery and Art Academy for all levels of instruction, from the beginning student to advanced painters and even professionals seeking what our demonstrations and workshops have to offer… to just a fun place to be able to paint and have the enjoyment of painting with others.

Also offered are: private and class lessons (in sketching, water colors, acrylics, oils, palette knife) classes for Seniors, the Home– schooled, high school classes, summer camps, Paint & Play classes for Adults and children (these are very popular 2 ½ hour classes that complete a painting in one class with age appropriate refreshments served and all materials are provided) painting parties for birthdays, showers, ladies groups, dinner painting parties etc.

Professional all day workshops by award winning artists are held several times a month in different mediums and subjects.

Monthly memberships for unlimited painting are available for a small fee

History

Established in 1991.

The Brigantine Gallery first opened in La Grange Park, Il. in 1991 selling only the original paintings and limited — edition prints of world famous sea scape artist Charles Vickery and English artist Michael Whitehand.

After Mr. Vickery passed away in 1998… It was hard to not have the artist in the gallery to meet and mingle with the people, so in 2000 the Brigantine started adding other artists. Artists were now coming and going and the gallery was once again filled with movement.

In 2007 the gallery was moved to Main Street in downtown Downers Grove.

It now represented over 30 artists. local, national and international.

Yearly art shows, classes, workshops, open painting and «meet the artist»

weekends were added and the Brigantine became a «working» gallery with the works of Mr. Vickery still in the forefront with many great artists joining him.

In 2013 the gallery relocated to a space more than double what it had been.

It is now The Brigantine Gallery & Art Academy
