Wells Street Popcorn is the high-​quality, high-​value popcorn provider based in the Chicago area. Our homemade recipes have been passed down by family members for generations, dating to the 1930s. At Wells Street Popcorn, we stick to the basics and we sell «Chicago’s best» old fashioned Caramel, Cheese, Traditional, Kettle Corn and Chicago’s most famous treat: The Best Caramel & Cheddar Mixed popcorn that money can buy. We pop corn fresh each and every day. We sell directly to the public on a walk-​in basis and we ship tins nationwide. Our tins come in 4 sizes — 1 Gallon, 2 gallon, 3.5 gallon and 6.5 gallon — and can be dividable 2 and 3 ways. There is no minimum tin order. For larger volume orders, Wells Street Popcorn can place your logo on our tins. We can insert a personalized card in each order and we handle all of your shipping logistics.

I was surprised to find this place while visiting relatives in Westmont. I had a bag of cheese popcorn that was absolutely fresh, delicious and every bit as good as Garrett’s. The service was excellent. I will be visiting my relatives perhaps more often. :-)

$ 25 dollars for a small tin of popcorn? And, the popcorn was STALE — not even made fresh! All she (the girl behind the counter) did was scoop it out of a box. Could have gotten the same for $ 3 bucks at the Meijer…

I used to beg my husband to pick up a bag of Chicago Mix popcorn before making the commute back home to the ‘burbs in the evening. There’s a craving that I thought only a bag of Chicago Mix could satisfy. Then one wonderful day I «discovered» Wells Street Popcorn in downtown Downers Grove. I’ve been by it a million times and have even gone into the store with friends, but being a creature of habit it never registered in my feeble brain to give it a try. How stupid was I?! Wells Street Popcorn caramel and cheddar mix is fresh and crave-​worthy. As good as, perhaps even better than, its more famous competitor?

The employees are always cheerful and friendly, and the popcorn is delicious. They are always happy to accommodate my odd mix of popcorn when I’m getting my tin refilled (approx 1⁄5 caramel, 1⁄3 butter, and the rest cheese). Great addition to downtown DG.

Holy hell, gourmet popcorn in the burbs. A few years ago I turned the BF onto garretts popcorn but since its only in the city and finding a location, not Navy Pier, after dinner is a pain in the butt. So I have been on the hunt for kick ass popcorn in the burbs. I had found one spot in the northern burbs, in Deer Park mall, but due to a horrid location, it closed down. Over the summer I came across Wells during a summer festival. We went in and sampled some of the goodies, We were hooked. Caramel corn all the way. Its a light, buttery caramel thats not a sugary overload. We usually get a medium bag and if I remember correctly, it will run you under six bucks. We have learned to take it out of the bag when we get home and put it in an air tight container so it lasts longer, if it makes it through the night.
Oh and if you come in at the right time, you can catch them while its cooking. The smell will blow you away.

I was in Downer’s grove last week running an errand and I was excited to discover the same popcorn shop that I go to Oak Park, I didn’t know there were other stores. I guess this one just opened up a few months ago. The owner was there and I talked to him, he was really friendly and extremely helpful, he said it’s a family business, not a chain, and they own 3 stores now, one in OP, one in Downer’s and one on the North side of Chicago. I didn’t have my tin with me, so I just got a small cheese popcorn. The owner told me that the popcorn had a limited time to stay fresh, since it was a hot day. He said that on 90 degree days, popcorn has the life expectancy of ice cream, which I did not know. I appreciated that he took the time out to inform me of that.
