Took my car in today and even though they couldn’t fix the issue (has to be done by the dealership), I was very thankful for all of the info they did provide. All of the employees were friendly too. My dad had the ac for his truck repaired here a few weeks ago and he was happy with the service and price too. Definitely recommend this place!

I had a problem with the AC in my 9 year old civic, where the AC would cut out after it warmed up and the system wasn’t working well. My normal mechanic does not do AC other than charging, and the dealer seemed baffled. So I looked up an AC shop and came by to see if they could figure out what was going on. Shazam — problem identified. Last Friday, I dropped my car off to get the AC clutch rebuilt and today was the first day the car was hot when I got inside, even though it was not that hot outside. Fired up the AC, worked perfectly. And kept working.
These guys really know their stuff and fixed it as promised and what was a not cheap but reasonable price for the nature of the repair. Now it just needs to keep working for another year or so.
Use these guys. They did good work for me.

I was looking for a reliable shop to take my car and get it fixed and did not want to spend an arm and a leg and ran across Lynn’s. Thankfully I went early Friday morning and 4 hours later my car AC is working again! I waited 2 years to get it fixed since I was worried that the cost would be too high and only paid $ 308.00! I was very happy and pleased with his work and had my mom drop her car off same day to get checked as well. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

My first Unilocal review ever. I rarely go out of my to leave reviews, but felt compelled to do so for Lynn’s. My A/​C compressor went out; after doing some extensive research online, narrowed my choice of mechanics down to two: Lynn’s and Advanced Radiator & Air Conditioning. I first took it to Advanced, as they had just as many good reviews as Lynn’s. Spoke with who I believe was the owner (don’t recall the name at the moment) first over the phone, then in person. Over the phone, he was very helpful and gave a few theories as to what the problem could be, and said I might not even need a new A/​C compressor. He then told me to bring it in to take a look. So I did, and as it turns out, I did in fact need a new compressor. Here’s what I didn’t care for about Advanced; after the problem was diagnosed, he was very short, and very dry. I had to do all the talking on an issue, I know little to nothing about. He just basically said, get the A/​C compressor, and I’ll install it. No breakdown of procedure, price, etc. No recommendation where to get it, what brand, nothing. Just get it, and bring it in. Now that may sound like I’m kind of nitpicking, but as I stated earlier, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT A/​C COMPRESSORS! So I go to my car, get on my phone real quick and start Googling A/​C compressors, and I find a reasonably priced one online. I show it to him, and asked what he thought, «He said, oh no, that’s a rebuild… I don’t touch those things» This is where a little more input on his behalf initially would have helped. What If I would have bought it and brought it in? He also never gave me a quote or rough estimate on the labor. I’m not trying to bash the guy, judging by the reviews, and speaking with him, he knows his stuff! He’s been doing it for over 35 years! He just lacks in the customer service area.
Now on to my wonderful experience at Lynn’s. I call Lynn’s, speak with a gentleman by the name of Benjamin. (goes by Ben) Ben is very patient, informative, and can tell takes pride in his knowledge. Told me to bring my car in, so I did. Looked at my car, gave me an elaborate breakdown of what needed to be done, and gave me an estimate right then and there, on the spot. Here’s what I liked most about my experience with Ben at Lynn’s. I show him the same exact A/​C compressor I had shown Advanced on my phone. He said it was a good price, but would not recommend installing a rebuild going into detail as to why. He then went to his computer, and gave me a quote of several different manufactures he recommended, with model numbers, and in order that he recommend. Really put a lot of time in effort in that, and made my life a lot easier when searching for a compressor. All I had to do was type in the manufacture/​model number, and bam! Found a new A/​C compressor that fit my budget in about 10 minutes! I even called Ben with a question I had in regards to the $ 280 compressor I was about to purchase, and he gave me the nod to go ahead and purchase it. If I didn’t have all that info, not only would I have not felt confident in buying a reputable brand, who knows how much research and time that would have took me! So I order my part, call Ben, gives me a time a date to bring the car in. My father lives nearby, so I just dropped the car off early in the morning, and Ben called me by the end of the day. Simple as that. HIGHLY recommend this place! Very reasonably priced, with superb customer service! Thanks again, Ben!

So sucky that the AC in my car stopped working at the beginning of the summer but since I work 15 mins away from my home I decided I didn’t have to fix it right away. I went about a month without doing anything to it but summers in CA are brutal of course, plus I’m taking a trip to Vegas next week. Anyway, I decided it was time to fix the AC so I went here and they quoted me $ 50 to diagnose what was wrong with it. I went on a Friday afternoon and they were busy so they told me to go back the next day on Saturday early morning to get a chance to look at it. I decided to check 2 other places in the area and by far Lynn’s was the only place with awesome customer service. They answered my questions without being condescending and were actually very helpful and willing to help (unlike Advance Radiator & Air Conditioning who made me feel like I was wasting their time and even made a call while I was still asking questions. Do NOT go there! Horrible customer service.)
So my dad took my car the next day on Saturday to get it diagnosed and it turned out that the AC condenser was damaged and needed to get replaced for an additional $ 400.00. That is way too much for my budget and it is the only reason why this place gets 4 stars instead of 5. It’s pricey but they absolutely figured out the problem. I decided to buy the condenser myself on eBay and got it for $ 50. My dad was able to replace it but was missing a screw. He took it back to Lynn’s and they helped him place the condenser in properly and charged $ 85 for the freon recharge.
Overall, the service is amazing, super nice people and absolutely help out with the problem. Best part is that I got a 3 month warrantee in case the AC goes bad again. Highly recommend!

I can’t recommend this place enough. After my spouse drove around for a full year with the air conditioning cutting in and out — and replacing the A/​C relay switch and the condenser (twice!) didn’t help — we wised up and took the car to Lynn’s Auto Air on the advice of our fellow Unilocalers.

I don’t normally frequent businesses in Downey but this one is worth driving to even if you don’t live right around the corner. The service was friendly and the work completed quickly. As I had suspected, the compressor was «going out» on my spouse’s car. Replacing an air conditioning compressor, as some of you know, can cost thousands of dollars. But at Lynn’s they actually repaired the one we already had. Not only did it cost a fraction of the price of replacing the entire unit the way most shops would, but they pointed out where the next failure may originate from and even told us how to go about fixing it ourselves if certain symptoms were to present. Wow! You can’t beat honest service!

I can’t agree with the listed below.
Brought my truck in for a head gasket replacement, told the head was cracked, they wanted to charge a high cost on the part, did an Internet check on the price, then they lowered the cost to match. Got the truck back, ended up leaking oil.
Tried again for an alternator replacement, they wanted to charge $ 150 to replace, and $ 150 for the part. O’Reilly’s cost $ 75
Asked about a hose replacement same thing. Went down to O’Reilly’s part cost was $ 32.
Just a shop that tries to gouge you if you don’t do your homework!
Went down to McMillen’s, another 5 star Unilocal location, got the hose replaced, and alternator replaced for $ 120, and not the $ 300 Lynn’s was trying to rip me off of! Total cost $ 227 vs $ 600 at Lynn’s!!!
Guys DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you go, or they will rip you off!

There’s a reason why they say never get your car fixed at a dealership. Dealerships are run by profession scam artists that love to charge 200% markups on everything.
Bring your car to Lynn’s Car Air. This low-​key, humble service shop is honest, reasonably-​priced, and dependable.
My 2007 Honda Civic’s AC decided to call it quits last week after running smoothly for 7 years. My first thought was to bring it to the dealership — good thing I didn’t. The dealership was going to charge me $ 150 just to diagnose the car and up to $ 800 to fix whatever is wrong — yes, I’m talking about Honda World Downey.
I’m really glad I brought my car to Lynn’s instead. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it within the hour for $ 142. Normally, I would fix the problems for my own car — oil changes, brake replacement, etc. But a car’s AC system is so complex and not something I could google easily.
Pros: reliable, honest and reasonably priced.
Cons: car maintenance will never be cheap.

Lynn’s auto air it’s more than a five star in my book. The prices are clearly marked and they keep you informed every step of the way. Marco was amazing at finding the piece for my air conditioner and saved me hundreds literally. I will always do business at Lynn’s.

Ford dealer said I needed a new condenser and wanted $ 1200 (a rip). Lynn’s found that a part had fallen off the front of the compressor and fixed it for just over 10% of what Ford wanted. Also, they arranged for me to pick up my truck after hours and then called to verify the A/​C was working well.
5 Stars for sure.

I always get overcharged with car services and am practically used to it because I know nothing about cars and am horrible at hiding that fact. I found Lynn’s Auto Air on Unilocal because I was looking for a place to take my car with an electrical issue to my headlight. They were so welcoming and honest, that I was taken back and actually enjoyed my visit! They have officially became my go-​to place for car issues, and I highly recommend them.

This is a legit, trustworthy shop.
I am a former ASE certified automotive repair technician. After years in the business I’ve seen a lot of bad shops and a lot of bad repairs, so the last thing I want is to let some stranger work on my cars. Good thing I found Lynn’s!
My wife’s ’96 Corolla had a bearing going out on the compressor; it was loud and annoying. I didn’t have the time or motivation to replace it myself so I had to find a competent shop to replace it and not try to sell me a whole compressor. Went to Lynn’s and they changed the bearing out in a few hours and the price was more than reasonable. I have since brought 2 of my work trucks here and will continue to come here for any of my automotive AC needs. It’s a shame they don’t do bumper to bumper work.
They even make custom AC hoses and lines for your hot rod applications.
These guys know what they’re doing and are upfront and honest. They’ll do exactly what is needed to get your AC back into working condition, no up-​sell, no bullshit.

They worked on my 1987 VW vanagon Syncro with Subaru conversion. I had leaks everywhere. It wasn’t cheap but told me exactly what was wrong with it. I gave them the go ahead and after couple of days my AC is working like new. Thanks guys.

These guys really know their stuff. AND they’ll take time to diagnose & fix a small problem rather than just tell you it’s a big one. Fixed the clutch mechanism to the compressor of my Volvo’s a/​c to the tune of $ 260 rather than replacing it all as others had recommended for $ 2500!!! Also told me replacing would be about $ 11−12k, not $ 25. Marco spent extra time & patience figuring this out & explaining it to me. He is Da Man! They are busy & deservedly so. Go early & don’t be in a rush.

Very reasonably priced, I did have to pick up my own part because they were that busy! However, after seeing what needed to be replaced, Marco was honest and upfront about the cost. He didn’t charge me for a new compressor he replaced the O ring and sent me on my way! These guys are respectable, honest, and do great work! I highly recommend them.

Women expect complete honesty from 3 main sources; their doctors, lovers and auto mechanics (children are expected to lie so they don’t count). Unfortunately, only the doctor seems able to tell the truth with any consistency. Therefore, when a female Unilocaler finds an honest mechanic, she should shout about it. «HEY! ARE YOU LISTENING? AN HONEST MECHANIC!»
Recommended as the people to see about air conditioning problems, I drove out to Lynn’s in Downey, a faded, blue-​collar town if ever there was one, and reluctantly handed over the keys to my beloved Merc. It was only after getting home, I realized I’d left some valuable equipment behind the seat. Well, several hours later, they called, my car was ready, so my gf drove me back out where I was told my a/​c compressor has a slight leak and freon was slowly seeping out. I was charged simply for the freon and told to wait and see before having the expensive compressor replaced. They could have simply told me the compressor needed replacement and I, the dumb redhead, would’ve bought the line. I saved @$ 1500 on that one, though I know I’ll probably need to replace it sometime in the future. I can use the money now and couldn’t you? I know my girlfriend could as she got a speeding ticket driving me home. And lo and behold, there was all my expensive gear, untouched where I’d left it.
Now, I have an icy cool car and an able, honest mechanic. I wish I could say the same for my lover (wink).
