Carlow Cookery

For years I had been interested in taking cooking classes and I finally decided to do some research and found exactly what I was looking for at Carlow Cookery. I dove right in an signed myself up for a 5 part cooking class. I was nervous to try this adventure out by myself but in the end I am so much happier I did.
I had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to sign up for more classes. Chef Dan gave us so many delicious and versatile recipes. The hands on experience is so much better than just reading a recipe or techniques from a book.
Besides the classes, the store is full of so many fun gadgets and tools. It was like being in a candy store and I didn’t know where to look first.
I have to thank Liam for his knowledge, kindness, and of course his awesome accent. I am enjoying cooking at home so much more with my new pots and knives.
I have read some of the other reviews and am not sure how anyone has anything other than positive feedback on their experience at Carlow Cookery. Liam and Chef Dan always have a smile on their face and take time to explain and share their experiences whether it be about cooking tips or the products in the store.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Carlow Cookery.

The good news is you can get them all in one place… Carlow Cookery.
The cooking classes have changed my life (no kidding). I could not cook soup out of the can before attending classes at Carlow. Chef Dan, Dennis and Liam have made it so I can create my own soup, dinners, appetizers, etc… and my family loves it. I can not remember the last time I got take out.
Bus trips are great! We have been on 6, all of them to fun food related places in NY. It is a wonderful day out. We have learned so much with all the foodie stops plus we get to go with a nice bunch of people. We even get snacks and wine for the trip home.
Because of all the cooking I am now doing in the kitchen I need some things to cook with. I got them all from Carlow. Dennis and Liam will go out of their way to find what you need. Not only that but they only carry quality products.
I know this sounds like it is coming from a good friend of the store and that’s because it is. With the Classes and Bus Trips I have made a bunch of new friends at Carlow. Thanks guys, I now can check off three things on my list!

Love going to Carlow Cookery! My husband and I have been taking cooking and wine classes for years from Denis and Liam and have loved every one. We always come away learning something new and have used many of their recipes over the years. Many have become family favorites. Always great conversation and a fun time is had by all.
Bus trips to NYC are another favorite activity that we’ve had the pleasure to go on. A must do for any «foodie» in the Doylestown Area. Denis and Liam have always been so helpful with suggestions for purchasing for our kitchen. Love supporting such a helpful, local, small business.

We had a blast here for the Fajitas and Margaritas demo! The food and drinks were flowing and the guys presenting were friendly, funny, and informative. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared in front if us. We also received a packet of recipes for the four different fajitas and three different margaritas. I highly recommend this as a fun night out with friends. Lots of bang for your buck!

Expensive but — they have alot of unique items including an egg-​boiler that my dad really wanted. THEY HAD IT (It was $ 9 and you can get them online for less — but we needed it).
Le Creuset selection is vast and normal prices (for that line). Staff (male) was friendly enough and gladly took our $ 9.

This is a great little store to go to especially if you have questions about cooking techniques. My husband I I have been to several cooking classes and also gone on their bus trips to New York which makes for a fantastic daytrip. The owners are accomodating and you never feel rushed.

My daughter and I went with Carlow Cookery on a «foodie» trip to NYC. The entire experience was great! From the time I registered, to when we met at the store and until we returned 10 hours later. Dennis was friendly, informative and eager to make sure our trip was everything we wanted. Looking forward to another tip and or class w/​them.

I found the employees (I don’t know if they were owners or not) to be very rude. I was looking at the books and some guy just barged right in front of me as if I didn’t matter, and gave a very rude, curt «excuse me», as if I was a problem and in his way.
Another time the guy at the register had a real attitude problem with my small purchase, like he couldn’t be bothered. Wow, I don’t remember anyone in line behind me waitng to check out.
Hey, I am the customer, the one with the money, remember? When I had a larger purchase to make, do you think I went there??? Of course I didn’t.
You can find all the things sold there in many other places in Bucks county as well as on the ‘Net or in stores within easy driving distance and all sold without the attitude. Folks that I have spoken to have said the same thing about this place.

OK, the geniuses at Unilocal support removed my first review because they can’t read and somehow determined I had no first hand experience with it. NOTE: I am a regular customer at Carlow and have been for a year and actually indicated that I did classes there in my last review.
OK, now for the review. Someone has an ax to grind with this place. Denis and Liam are great and very accomodating. The cooking lessons are super, with a variety of techniques taught and tastings — generous portions — of the yummy food prepared by Denis or by a guest chef. As this is not a restaurant but a tasting of what has been demonstrated, the portions are not huge, but there are at least 4 to 6 tastings, plus 2 glasses of wine and the portions are more than enough to constitute a dinner.
The evenings have been a great deal of fun and students have the opportunity to buy all those items that you never knew you needed at a reduced price.
Highly recommend the store and the cooking classes. I am a regular and plan to attend as long as they will put up with me!

Yep, found the same thing. In tooo much of a hurry. The portions were VERY small. On the way home we called and ordered a Pizza! Even tho’ we attended the cooking class and were purchasing items after the class, we felt we were intruding and needed to «hurry up and leave». We did and will tell ALL AND EVERYONE «Don’t go there». We have attended other cooking classes in the local scene and this is NOT TO DIE FOR! Do yourself a favor and open a can of tuna.

Very nice selection of cookware, gadgets and other things you never realized that you MUST HAVE… prices and selection are competitive with some of those larger national chains and you get the benefit of «hometown and (pardon the pun) NOT cookie-​cutter. The guys that own/​run the shop are very knowledgeable and not at all pushy or aggressive.
They have a nice ongoing series of cooking classes/​demos and foodie field trips… and that relates to my 3 rating versus 4. On three different occasions I went into look and I made the «mistake» of arriving about 10 minutes before a group class… then I felt pressure that because I was not in the seminar I should come back or make a fast purchase and that my current or future purchases were not nearly as important as the people who were learning how to sauté that night (and still had 10 –15 minutes before they were going to pick up a pan. Has it stopped me from going back… of course not but it really hit close to the bone after the second AND third time…

While this cookware store in Doylestown has lots to offer us foodies, the attitude of the owner is awful. I have never felt so uncomfortable as a paying customer. Friends have told of similar experiences where the guy is just RUDE! With other stores in the area that offer the exact same products, I would NEVER suggest to ANYONE they shop here. Overpriced, and overly rude. Stay away from Carlow Cookery
