A Touch of Green Landscaping

For most of the past year, as a resident of a small condo complex in Fairmount, I’d have never known that this business existed, despite the fact that they tend to the small grounds we have in this residence. That would not be a bad thing, since it would seem to imply that they do their work without creating much hassle.
Then fast forward to 4 weeks ago. Early in the morning, around 6:30, I’d put my dog out to go to the bathroom as usual, before the landscapers arrived for their weekly grounds touch-​up.
Nothing yet seemed out of the ordinary until around 8:30, after the grounds crew had already arrived, when an unusual amount of noise was coming from right outside my front door. Although my dog and I both took notice of the unusual noise, since it actually frightened him, I decided to let them finish what they were doing before taking my dog out again.
As I stepped outside about 15 minutes later, I was in fact shocked at what I saw. The landscapers had shredded my welcome mat with their lawnmower, jaggedly slicing off the left side, with about ¼ of the mat completely gone. The employee responsible had not come forward to apologize, to offer any kind of amends, anything… in fact, I had to go looking for an employee to point out the damage they had done. The employee I spoke with agreed with me, saying to me that he would make the matter known to his supervisor, a man named Dave.
Later that morning, I looked up the business online, called and left a voicemail with Dave Henry, the owner, in which I politely described what had happened along with my concern, and thought later that it would be helpful for him to have a photo of the damage. That afternoon, I emailed him a clear picture of the damage from my phone.
That was 4 weeks ago.
Not once in all this time have I heard from him, or from any representative of the company. As if it were not disconcerting enough that the employee himself did not come forward to report the damage on his own, it is even more appalling that the owner will not respond to polite phone calls and voicemails… all over a $ 15 welcome mat. If the employees and the owner of the company lack the fortitude to take responsibility for small matters such as this, can you really trust them to handle larger matters? Think about it… but don’t say you haven’t been warned.
