First time patients… please save yourself the time and trip to this office. They will withhold your prescription in order for you to return and purchase their contacts/​glasses with the prices set at retail. When I first walked in two weeks ago, I was greeted nicely by a mature woman at the front desk. She asked for my vision insurance AND my medical insurance. This immediately seemed fishy to me, but since I was already there I just decided to stay for my ROUTINE EYE EXAM. Apparently what the doctor does is perform the routine eye exam AND additional exams VOLUNTARILY. Then they will bill your medical insurance because the CPT codes they use isn’t covered by your vision plan. I work in healthcare with insurance contracts so I know all about this. I haven’t gotten a bill yet but base on the current reviews I’ve read recently this is what they’re doing. I’m just waiting for my insurance company to hit me with a bill so I can appeal it. They ordered me trial pair contacts which was ordered two weeks ago and still haven’t been delivered. In the meantime I’m running low on my daily disposables so I called for my prescription. A young girl at the front desk responded, who by the way isn’t very personable in person, nor is she knowledgable. She pretty much relays everything the doctor tells her. She was the one who actually checked me out the day of my exam and she didn’t know what contacts the doctor wanted to put me on so she had to go ask the doctor. As soon as my exam was completed, everything should have been written down and put into a folder, usually a Manila folder. The folder should have then been handed to the young lady and all the information should have been right there in front of her. She gave me the price for the contacts and it was ridiculous! I asked the young lady to look up a specific brand that I wear and she couldn’t find it. She told me it’s not in her system. 1-​Day Acuvue Moist is a popular brand so I knew she didn’t look hard enough. Anywho, two weeks later I still don’t have my prescriptions or contacts and they won’t give me my script basically because I don’t want to return to purchase their contacts. And please make sure you’re knowledgeable on your vision plan because they will try to charge you $ 90 for the contact lens fitting. The girl told me I couldn’t use my vision plan to cover the cost if I choose not to purchase contacts through them. This is not true! If you have $ 175 in benefits allowance, it can be applied to the fitting cost depending on your insurance. But if you choose not to order contacts through their office you’ll just lose the additional allowance you have left after the fitting. To get the maximum advantage of the your benefits allowance, the insurance recommends you purchase everything through the eye doctor BUT it’s optional. My insurance covers my routine exam AND my fitting but I’m choosing not to use the rest of my allowance towards their contacts. That’s my loss and I’m choosing to take that loss! So after all that is said, I just want my prescription and I wish they had better staff who are more knowledgeable with insurance and provide better customer service. They’re all about the money and organizations that are unethical and improper will lose their customers quick.

Incompetent staff and doctor performed medical services I did not consent to then fraudulently billed my medical insurance instead of vision insurance, then said I was responsible for the balance. The secretary couldn’t what anything on my bill was for and had no idea what each code was for. They also decided to bill me for services 10 months after being seen for a visit. Completely incompetent and worst experience ever. Will be filing a complaint with Board of Optometry and possibly legal action soon.

Eye doctor was very nice and personable, however I was misled into the type of eye exam i was receiving. My understanding was that I was receiving whatever exam my eye insurance covers, however following the exam i was hit with 2 copays from my health insurance and was told that they type of exam they gave me was not covered by the eye insurance. I will not be returning.

I didn’t have a great experience here but I have to be fair about what I say in my review so feel free to read the detail. I’ve tried to get contacts before when I was in high school, 10 – 15 years ago, and I wasn’t able to be fitted correctly for some reason. I always got dry eyes or the contacts made me feel like I was underwater.
I saw Dr Major about 4 years ago for a lense fitting. She was pleasant at first, but she seemed to lose patience with me after I had to come back a few times to give feedback about the trial lenses and how they weren’t working for me. I did let her know that I had trouble with these before and she have me the impression it wasn’t a problem to try some things out.
At one point she gave me these smaller, less permeable lenses, but they didn’t work either. I don’t recall her saying I had to return them. I do recall her trying to remind me to take them out. When she was educating me about those types of lenses she could have done a better job because she had said that if lenses are left in your eye that don’t allow oxygen in, your eye could die. Although I’m sure that’s true over a period of time, it’s important to choose your words widely when explaining something like this. After all, that sounds pretty serious.
When I came back to the office they asked where they were and stated that they told me I had to bring them back. It’s possible I just wasn’t paying attention, but that wasn’t a sticking point in my brain or maybe I just dismissed it. Again, I’m trying to be fair here. Her assistant then told me that I would have to pay $ 350 for them if we were to move forward getting another pair. I asked him to bring Dr Major out so we could talk but I remember feeling like I was begging to see her. Come on. I left.
And to this day, I still don’t have contacts. Went to another eye doctor and got a script for glasses.

Can I give 0 stars? The doctor was great, I left with a pair after being fitted. After a few days, my contacts became very dry and uncomfortable. I called to see what could be done, as I had placed an order for these contacts, and didn’t hear back for a week. The receptionist said to use eye drops, which I was. I called back again to see what could be done, again it took a week to hear back and, of course, I missed the call. I sent an email and never heard back. Finally, I called and spoke with an extremely rude woman, who told me the doctor was away and nothing could be done. I had to wear my glasses for 2 days and driving in the sun is a problem for me without sunglasses. I was forced to pick up the uncomfortable and expensive contacts, and was met with attitude when I got them. I will NEVER be back. And I’ve been asking for my prescription so I could use 1−800-contacts because this place won’t price match, and have not heard a thing. Tried calling but they’re closed Tuesday.

I am so disappointed in the poor customer service received at the front desk. Dr. Major is great at what she does and is why this rating is not a 1 star, but the receptionists have major attitudes and did not do their jobs correctly. I regret coming back a second time and I definitely regret recommending this location to my fiancée – he got it the worst. One mistake I will never make again.

I came here on a Friday morning, August 15^th around 9:30am. And while I appreciated Dr. Archima Major being thorough throughout the exam, I can’t help but feel like I was being swindled. The receptionist gave me a very weak greeting when I arrived and barely could answer any of my questions. She immediately asked for me my medical insurance card as she stated we’d need to do other routine tests using that insurance instead of my vision insurance, when all I asked for a simple eye exam.
I asked if it would be covered by my insurance and she said she was not sure. Umm well how about you find out? I’m sorry, call me spoiled but my previous eye doctor’s staff would take the time to call the insurance company and check. It’s not like they were busy at all.
After the exam Dr. Major stated that my prescription was way to high and she was lowering it drastically. I’m no eye doctor but I doubt my vision has improved that much if anything it’s gotten worst.
I was also rather perturbed by the lack of reasonably priced frames and I find it ridiculous that none of the frames are labeled with prices, so you literally have to keep asking the receptionist how much each frame is and she has to look it up in the computer. (What kind of nonsense is that?).
Needless to say I won’t be buying frames from there or returning and when I asked if I could buy my frames elsewhere and use the allowance my vision insurance gives me for frames the receptionist stated that I had to buy it from there because you could not get an exam in one place and frames from another? Really well I thought you billed my medical insurance for this and didn’t use my vision insurance at all? I’ll just have to see about that.

Dr. Major and her staff were professional, courteous and attentive to my needs as a patient. The facility was clean and updated, which enhanced the experience overall. I look forward to continuing to patronize Eye Innovations. It’s about 10 minutes away from my previous eye care physician, but worth the extra drive.

My boyfriend went to see Dr. Major after experiencing a random blind spot in his eye. The two of us needed to take off work for the day (I needed to drive him to/​from the appointment), and we were told that it was an emergency and needed to be seen right away. When we went to the appointment, she couldn’t tell what was wrong with his eye, and ordered a bunch of tests. She kept making a point of telling us that it was worrying her, and it could be something very bad causing the blind spot.
A few days later the test results came back, and we went back to the doctor. We were again told that she didn’t know what the issue was, and ordered more tests. She also gave him eye drops that she thought might work. We were told that he would be notified when the test results came back. We were never notified. He called after a week and a half and told she was on vacation. He waited another week and called again, at which point he was told that she was «bogged down with work» upon returning from her vacation, and would reach out to him soon. Two weeks went by, and still nothing. He called again and was told, «it’s back to school time, it’s very important for kids to have their eyes checked». So a routine eye exam is more important than a blind spot with unknown cause?! After that he tried calling one more time, in an effort to avoid having to get the expensive tests done by another doctor, and was told that the doctor was «busy». She still hasn’t called. It’s now November and well past back to school time. He never received the test results for tests that cost hundred of dollars. I consider this incident to be theft and negligence.

I went for an eye exam and found Dr. Major very nice and she seemed through and competent, but somehow my prescription was so far from correct it’s ludicrous. I had gone to another place to order glasses where the frames and lenses were cheaper and when I came back with the new glasses in hand and asked for a re-​examination the refused. They also refused to compare the new lenses with my current lenses. They just kept saying that Visionworks was in the wrong, not them, and inferred that it was my fault for being cheap. The staff was VERY rude. I went straight back to Visionworks and explained that Dr. Major would not be retesting my eyes and so they gave me a free eye exam — GRATIS! And they are refunding the difference in the lenses, since I only need a single vision, and NOT a progressive lens. GO TO VISIONWORKS!

I found this provider on my eye insurance website (VSP) AND IT WAS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. The selection is limited and the service was awful and on top of that they tried to charge over $ 244.00 for a pair of plastic frame eyeglasses. I am in the insurance business so I was aware of what they were doing. So I went down the road to Eye to Eye Contact 1404 West Chest Pike PA 19 083. Michelle R. was excellent warm and helpful and actually applied the discounts I was entitled to since I have insurance. It’s nice to know that there are some honest people who do there job and save me money!!!

The Doctor was great… but since this is a team effort, this location only deserves a 2. Customer service and staff attitude are poor.

We have used Eye Innovations for two years. The doctor and her staff are friendly knowledgable and helpful. The selection is great for adults and children.

I have used Eye Innovations for the past 2 years and i must say this is perhaps the best place i have been to have my eyes checked. She takes her time to explain her every action and it is obvious that she is very passionate and competent. I refer every single person i know to Eye Innovations because she is knowledgeable and gives great service

In the spirit of full disclosure I actually met the owner of this practice at a social event more than a year ago. When I found out she had an eye practice I promised to check it out (since I wasn’t happy with my current place). So I finally made it over for an appointment and decide to write a review.
My experience was absolutely mind blowing. It was the most detailed eye exam I have ever experience. Not only was no stone left unturned but Dr. Major explained what she was doing and why… every step of the way. I left with some very good tips and a comfort that I had received thorough examination.
Additionally her administration staff as well as her sales staff were all very helpful, pleasant easy to talk too. I was also happy with the selection of fashion and sports protection frames available in the location. The staff was able to consult with me on selecting my everyday frames as well as talk to me about frames that I could get to wear when I go target shooting (a hobby of mine). Finally the sales team took a good look at my insurance and helped me get the most out of my coverage. For example I never knew that my insurance covered transitions lenses. So I was able to get them without any additional out of pocket charge. Obviously that’s more dollars in their pocket but it also was of help to me. So overall great experience and I would definitely recommend this practice.

I had a fabulous experience here. The only reason they are getting 4 out of 5 stars is the receptionist was a little rough over the phone. Also I wasn’t sure why my contact lens fitting wasn’t billed to insurance. Which meant I spent $ 120 instead of my suspected $ 20 copay. I will submit the claim to my insurance company later.
When I arrived the receptionist was no where near as rough as she sounds over the phone. She apologized for the wait. It seemed like they scheduled 3 wild children at the end of the day. She was also helpful in giving me coupons for eye drops.
The doctor’s assistant was very thorough in his testing and took extra time to explain what each machine did. I was never left in the dark about what they were going to do to my eye next. He also has a wonderful sense of humor and great customer service.
Dr. Majors is amazing! She really knows her stuff and really gave me a lesson on my eyes and how they connect to my body. I can tell she loves her field. She told me to smile in the mirror everyday and how much water to drink (80 oz!) She has a holistic approach without seeming condescending. She asked repeatedly if I had any questions and took her time to explain her reasoning. It wasn’t the normal «You have dry eye. Here is a prescription experience.»
I’m used to having the «Jiffy Lube» of eye care experience where its very in and out. This was a very different experience.
Even though I was the last appointment of the day, I never felt rushed or like I was on there time.
