Ramsey’s Service Center

Excellent service, friendly staff, always willing to work you in. Yes, for something like an oil change though, you could probably get it a little cheaper at Valvoline or Jiffy Lube, but the slightly higher price here is definitely worth it. Also they vacuumed out the front of my car both times I got an oil change here, it’s the little things that make this place great. If you live in Drexelbrook, or the surrounding area, this place is incredibly convenient. There’s a reason they have five stars :-)

A small shop (four lifts, two bays) with great service, friendly owner and great workers. Robert (owner) works with you to get the job done right the first time, gives you options for repair, and explains what the car needs. They also provide emissions inspection service, UHaul service, and Interlock installation and monitoring. A great service shop. One of only a few of its kind. I would recommend to anyone.

Bob is awesome and he is very knowledgable. This place is open early and he has Uhal rentals… I was nervous as usual, but everything was fair and smooth.

Came here with my BMW x3 with a service engine light. Found out that my 4^th cylinder was faulty and misfiring and the guys here replaced everything quickly. The work was amazing and they are extremely friendly/​eager to help with whatever issue you may be having. I am so happy my fiancé found these guys because I know I can always take my car here for some quick repairs! Priced very fairly and my car runs as good as new! Overall I am extremely satisfied and although I hope I won’t have to come back. i know where to go if necessary.

Disappointed starting in 2015 and continuing this year. I first gave them 5 stars and thought that I finally found a mechanic that I could trust. After my third appointment, things started to happen.
Had a repair done and it needed more than he previously stated… did he call and say
«I didn’t realize it needed this and it will cost X amount of dollars extra»
NO…when I picked up the car I got REPAIR BILL shock… went from a $ 55.00 pad replacement to a $ 300.00 job. Then on top of that, he tells me that while he was at it, he did me a favor OR TWO and did a few extras. At first, I said… Oh Thanks thinking that he did me a favor! When I saw the bill, I thought opposite… he did himself a favor.
Starting to make repairs or do little things that I didn’t ask for and were actually quite expensive. They termed them.“while I was at it, I thought that I would do this for you”.
I remember the younger days when it was all I could do to pay the repair bill. I wouldn’t want extras done without my knowledge no matter how small they were.
Every automotive repair shop should call before doing ANY work not specified. I don’t know
what book of repair etiquette they read. They should also quote a price before doing repairs
and CALL if it will be more than expected. Especially a LOT more.
Word of advice: Write on ticket «DO NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS OR SERVICES WITHOUT FIRST CALLING THE OWNER AND RECEIVING APPROVAL»

Ramsey’s is a low profile car service center which looks like an out of business gas station. He use to sell gas until 2013 or 2014. Bob, the owner is kind and patient. He is very approachable and willing to spend time with each of his customers. From the moment I set up an appointment to when I picked up my car he was there every step of the way. He explains everything and doesn’t try to over charge you. My girlfriend and I have both taken our cars here and have received stellar service. He gives you a quote before performing any service and keeps you updated on the progress/​expected time the car will be done.
Unfortunately, we moved and can no longer take our cars here. Ramsey’s is really a gem. The parking seems a bit chaotic out front of his business. Don’t worry though, you can pretty much park anywhere and Bob or one of his staff will jockey the cars around.
You can also rent Uhaul trucks and vans from him. He made this process simple. Uhaul, in my opinion is a bit of a scam but if you are aware of all their policies you can avoid getting ripped off. Bob and his crew outlined how Uhaul billed/​charged and reviewed all the policies. We were satisfied with this process as well.
If you plan to drop your car off and wait there is limited seating, only 3 – 4 chairs. I recommend dropping your car off early and heading over to Ming’s which is a local breakfast joint within walking distance of Ramsey’s

After having bad experiences at 2 other places for the same issue, I took my car to Ramsey’s, and it was the absolute best place I could have gotten my car repaired. At Ramsey’s, they were extremely nice and understanding to my need of getting the repair done ASAP. Not only that, but they were by far cheaper than the other two places quoted me for (ending up being ¹⁄₃ of what the others said). Just genuinely helpful, friendly, and honest people at Ramsey’s. I am from out of town and finding such a great shop was a relief. I will never take my car anywhere else!

First discovered Ramsey’s through the Angies’s List offer for a State Inspection. Was very impressed so took my Lexus back for the regular service last year as I was fed up paying exorbitant rates at the dealer (e.g. $ 90 to replace a $ 5 bulb). This year as well as the state inspection and routine service I needed to replace a rear seatbelt (my dog chewed it). I bought the replacement on EBay and Ramsey’s installed it. It proved to be a very difficult task and I am sure took several hours, but they only charged me for 1 hour of labor. Their customer centric service, honesty and fair prices are a refreshing change.

You know that cliché of the auto repair guy who is gruff, rolls his eyes at people who don’t know as much about cars as they do (which is almost everyone), who will tell you a ton of horrible things that will happen to you if you try and drive your car without paying him an exorbitant sum to fix a problem you’re not really sure even exists?
Yeah, Bob — the owner of Ramsey’s — dispels all of them. He is soft-​spoken, treats you with respect. His demeanor isn’t all that makes him trustworthy — he will tell you what needs to be done, what can wait and will work with you to make sure you leave the lot satisfied.
I have taken my car to him twice. Both times he let me have my own parts installed (he doesn’t guarantee the parts but he does guarantee the work), saving me several hundred dollars. Both times the car was ready when we needed it to be.
The second time involved changing spark plugs. He recommended a brand to me and when one of them got stuck, he asked us to bring it back in in a day or so. He did, changed the last plug, no extra charges at all.
Also a plus is that his shop is literally right next to a trolley stop that goes to 69^th Street Terminal which makes it easy to leave your car if it requires extra time.

I had to get my car inspected and I didn’t want to pay the ridiculously high prices at the dealership, so I came to Unilocal!to help me find someone local that wouldn’t rip me off. I’m lucky I did, because I found an awesome mechanic that I’ll be taking my car to all the time. I made my appointment a week ahead of time and a few days before the appointment, I spoke to the owner Bob and let him know that I needed my car by a certain time. He let me drop it off before the mechanics came in and had them start on it right away so I’d be done in time.
I also complained that I thought my brakes were noisy, and he checked them out. Low and behold, I needed new brakes! At 25,000 miles, I was, needless to say, not very happy! Unfortunately that’s what you get when you buy a new car and they use less than quality parts on it! Bob however, helped calm my nerves about the whole situation and I decided to get all of the work done at that time. While all the work did cost a lot more than I was expecting to pay, he used coupons he had offered on his website and was able to bring the costs down for me. I really appreciate the fact that he went out of my way to help lessen the blow to my wallet. Bob was extremely personable and even had my car ready an hour earlier than I needed it.
I highly recommend him and his company for any services you may need, and look forward to working with him in the future (hopefully I’ll only need him for regular maintenance though! ;-))

I am Dara’s husband, Doug. I can assure you I am not related to Bob as a reviewer below mentioned. I rarely write reviews, especially positive ones, but felt his service was so good that this was a great way to thank him. I have been going to him for the last 3 years or so after trying out different places in the area since moving to the area. I can’t say enough good things about him and his business. I have had a variety of work done there, including inspections, brakes, air conditioning repair, oil changes, tire replacement, and most recently today a tire repair (plugged from a screw). Not only did he not make me wait at all to check the screw out and say if its repairable or not, but fixed it in 5 minutes. Very quick service for a busy business.
I was always skeptical at other places that the work they recommended/​required (in cases of inspections) were not necessary and that I was being taken advantage of. NOT at Ramseys! He is always honest in my opinion about what work needs to be done and what can wait. He has even helped connect me with a buyer (another customer of his) when I was trying to sell one of my cars, even though he gained nothing from the transaction. I don’t think any dishonest mechanic would do that. I’m happy that I have finally found a mechanic I can trust. To the negative reviewer, I would say that because he is so good his business can get busy at times. In my opinion that is a good sign.
When work needs to be done, I have found his prices to be very reasonable, and in all likelihood the best in the area. Don’t hesitate to try him out.

Ramsey’s Service Center has by far provided the best customer service since I have lived in Philadelphia. When I spoke with Bob over the phone, he was very polite and professional. Recently, my schedule has been very unpredictable, and despite the multiple calls to schedule and reschedule an appointment, Bob remained courteous and friendly. I chose Ramsey’s because of the high reviews that they had online and the positive reviews were very accurate. Ronald, the technician even explained everything that needed to be done and everything that was done.
I will definitely return to Ramsey’s for all of my car maintenance and repairs.

We came in from out of town specifically to purchase a used car from Ardmore Toyota. We asked Bob to do an inspection of the vehicle before we purchased it on very short notice. Not only did he accommodate us quickly on short notice (we waited only 10 minutes), but he did an extremely thorough review for only $ 30. He, and the rest of his staff, we so kind, helpful, and honest. We really appreciate everything he did for us and we’re so glad we brought the car to him!

I recently moved to the area and had been looking for a good, reputable place for car repairs. A month ago, my car needed work and I brought it to the dealer. I was overcharged and unhappy with the service, so when part of the undercarriage was hanging off my car, I was determined to find another place. After reading the Unilocal reviews I gave Ramsey’s a shot and I am glad I did!
I spoke with Bob on the phone and he was friendly and helpful before I even made my appointment. In route to the appointment the damage became worse and I needed a tow from AAA. Bob was very helpful on the phone and made space to work on my car when it got there. When I arrived, they brought my car right in and made a temporary repair while a new part is being ordered.
He was courteous the entire time I was there, made me feel at ease, and all for a very reasonable price! After making a temporary repair to secure the undercarriage while the new part comes in, they drove the car around the block to ensure everything was safe. My husband and I are both convinced that this is our new go-​to car repair shop.
They recently got out of the gas business, so if you do go to them, there is currently a big Lukoil sign out front.

I chose to try Ramsey’s after moving to the area and reading the good reviews, and I have to say that this is one of those cases where I am tremendously grateful that online reviews directed me where they did. I had to visit here two or three times for minor problems with the car and Mr. Ramsey is just one of those people you like immediately. For one thing, he goes out of his way to explain to you what is going on so you can make informed decisions. Every time he was coming through the waiting area on the busy day I was there he would make an effort to make smalltalk or just be pleasant in general. Honestly nobody likes going to get their car fixed and it’s always a little nerve-​wracking wondering what the damage will be. He certainly made it less tense and made me feel like a valued customer.
For one of the most recent visits, I was having some problems with my car starting. Having had a cracked head gasket before, which cost me a tremendous amount of money to get fixed and had similar symptoms, I was really worried that this would set me back quite a bit. Mr. Ramsey thought it was only a battery problem and that it would need replaced, but in the course of checking found that only the wires that connected to the battery were corroded. It actually wound up being a very cheap fix, and one that he totally could have scammed me on. He could have sold me a new battery anyway, or told me he replaced it and just fixed the wires. I am happy to have found this place, recommend it to others, and will continue patronizing it as long as I am around here.

I was a first time customer to Ramsey’s Service Center, and even on my first visit I was treated as a VIP. Everyone I spoke to at Ramsey — from the person who scheduled my appointment, to the people at the shop — were extremely friendly and professional.
I dropped my car off on a Saturday morning near the end of the month and I had scheduled quite a bit of service for my vehicle, however the crew at Ramsey were able to return my car the same day, even while short a mechanic. All service was discussed with me in detail over the phone before being performed.
When I picked up my car, it was in great running condition. Recommendations were made for future service. The prices were extremely reasonable and very close to the estimate discussed in advance. The interior of my car was even cleaner than I had left it. I really feel like they went above and beyond. After taking my car to Ramsey, I would not trust anyone else to service her. I strongly recommend giving Ramsey a try if you haven’t already. They’re easy to miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for — look for the Lukoil with Uhaul rentals on Burmont road.

Bob and the staff are great! My father-​in-​law has been taking his numerous cars to Ramsey’s for almost 20 years. I moved to the area and have been using him as well.
My car broke down and I had it towed to AAA, gotta assume they’d be top notch. Well, after a near $ 5,000 estimate to fix my issues, I took it to Ramsey’s and he just chuckled at the estimate and said he’d let me know because short of replacing the entire engine, nothing should cost that much.
I’ll send anyone over to Ramsey’s. He’s also a certified AAA Shop. Big plus!
