Mt. Gainor Inn

This b&b is off the beaten path a bit but the rewards are ten fold. The quiet vistas and gardens are a welcome start or end to a day of exploring. The side oats suite was a great tom tic getaway. Jerry and Laurie were gracious hosts and wonderful cooks. Great value that deserves a second look!

Mt. Gainor Inn offered me my first taste of Texas Hill Country while in the area for a wedding at Camp Lucy. Upon stepping out onto the grounds after driving in from Austin (via the scenic route, thanks to a missed turn), I was shocked at the peacefulness and serenity of the location. I could not believe how quiet things were, and felt inclined to whisper to my friends immediately.
The Inn is small — seemingly a converted farmhouse, with some outlying cottages — and definitely has that bed-​and-​breakfast feel. The couple that own and run the place were super sweet, and upon check-​in, were sure to make us feel welcome and right at home.
I stayed with 2 friends in Mt. Gainor’s largest room, whose name escapes me, but it’s located at the top of the steps around the back, above the dining room and sleeps 4. The room featured a large living area with plenty of seating, a queen-​size bed at the opposite side of that room, and a separate bedroom with a king-​size bed and lots of closet space, along with a shared bathroom and kitchenette area. Both the living room and the bedroom featured fireplaces, but as it was quite warm outside in early May, we didn’t put these to the test.
Breakfast is homemade by the owners and served up around 9:00 a.m. every morning. On our first morning, this included scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, breakfast potatoes, and an assortment of cereals and yogurt. Our second morning, there was a delicious breakfast strudel — a great way to (I think) use up the leftovers from the prior day. The owners made sure our coffee cups were never empty until we called «uncle.» Plus, they had the largest selection and variety of coffee creamers I’ve ever laid eyes on — snickerdoodle creamer anyone?! The Inn also does lunch and dinner, but only with advance notice and reservations, so if that’s your plan, make sure to let them know.
They have plenty of chairs and lounging areas outside on the premises, with a lovely hammock that looked so inviting. There’s also a hot tub for guests’ use, though we weren’t able to take full advantage during our short stay.
The price of our stay was incredibly reasonable — my friend made the reservations a few months in advance and was charged at that time. It ended up as only around $ 300 total for the 2 nights we stayed, including breakfast. You can’t beat that price for the quality, serenity, and hospitality at Mt. Gainor Inn.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Inn, and my taste of Texas Hill Country. If I ever find myself back in Dripping Springs, I will most certainly find my way to Mt. Gainor!

This was my first stay at a bed and breakfast and it was wonderful. We spent our wedding night here. The owners were very friendly and made some yummy breakfasts. When we came back from our wedding at Chapel Dulcinea we were thrilled to see rose petals on our bed. We stayed in Side Oats Cottage which was beautiful and relaxing. It was a great stay in the country.

Came here for a one night stay with the boyfriend last week. We had multiple uncertainties with our schedule; Laurie the owner worked with us through all of it. The place itself looks deceiving plain from the outside. Don’t be fooled. Inside, it’s beautiful and charming. We had dinner here — ordered the chicken prosiutto pasta and pecan trout. The food tasted fresh and good, though nothing spectacular. Afterwards enjoyed walking around the grounds and hot tub. Best views of the stars I have had in a long time!
We stayed in the Veranda the newest room which is decorated in more modern style than the other rooms. Had a great bathroom and whirlpool. Laurie showed us a tour of the place — the Garden room looked really nice!
Both laurie and jerry are very accomodating and sweet. Looks like they’re doing a lot of landscaping. Looking forward to visiting again

If you want a nice time away from the hustle of day-​to-​day life, Mt. Gainor Inn is the best Xanadu in the Texas Hill Country. The Inn is perfect and the owners are like long-​lost best friends. Heck, I even invited them to my Wedding because they were so much fun. And you know what? They Came!
Definately going back!

My husband and I wanted to get away from the frenzy known as Fall 2013 and celebrate five years of togetherness without breaking the bank. We decided to do a little Hill Country getaway, and stumbled upon Mt. Gainor Inn while researching B&Bs in the area. Our weekend was wonderful, thanks to Jerry and Laurie’s hospitality, our beautiful room (the Veranda, which was our fave after taking a tour of all of the accommodations), and the peace and quiet we experienced while lounging on our private deck. The Inn feels remote even though it was only a short (albeit windy) drive to local wineries, shopping and dining. Plus, there’s a resident outdoor cat named Nell who lets you pet her to your heart’s content. How can you go wrong with that? We vowed to make a return trip an annual tradition.

Laurie and her husband did an incredible job of making our weekend stay everything we hoped for. They were kind, accommodating, friendly, and flexible. The rooms were gorgeous and her cooking was a treat. We have stayed at several B and Bs in the hill country and this is without a doubt our new favorite:)

Very nice B&B. Very nice owners, great location off the beaten path. Wonderful beds and breakfast. Affordable, too! Very nice owners!

This was a lovely B&B to visit. It is a little off the beat-​and-​path, but don’t be afraid… it makes it all the more fun to find! Laurie and Jerry (and «Nell» the outside cat) were the epitome of southern hospitality. We were greeted immediately upon our arrival and made to feel welcome every second of our visit. Relaxation on the hammock is a must and the sunset was beautiful. We took advantage of their dinner menu so we did not have to travel back into Dripping Springs. I am an extremely picky eater, but I thought the food was very good. We stayed in the «Hideway» (since we were only able to visit for one night) and the bed was comfy, the breakfast was wonderful and we found the whole experience to be relaxing. Our *only* negative (and trust me… it is small) is that we seemed to have had a person that liked to «pace» in another room close to ours. This of course is *not* Jerry & Laurie’s fault and the noise wasn’t any worse than what you might experience at a hotel, but if that kind of thing bothers you… then it could be a problem. Otherwise, we would love to go back when it’s a little warmer… stay a little longer… see things in bloom… and maybe try one of the bigger suites!

We had a wonderful stay. When we arrived they upgraded us to the side cottage. It was beautiful. The hot breakfast was such a yummy treat. They are currently making an addition. I can’t wait to see the completed project. This would be a great place for several couples to get away together.

We had an amazing weekend at the Mt. Gainor Inn. It was our first bed and breakfast experience, and we couldn’t be happier. We were unsure of what to expect, but Laurie and Jerry took such good care of us. We felt right at home! Laurie recommended wonderful things for us to do in the area and where the best dinner was (Creek Rd Café — btw!). Their property is beautiful and quiet. We loved the private deck and the garden. The breakfast was so delicious it kept us full all day! It was restful and rejuvenating and we can’t wait to come back!

oh so lovely b&b in Dripping Springs. huge, comfy bed that I didn’t want to leave. they bring you an excellent breakfast and it’s so peaceful and quiet — already planning my next stay out there.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I selected this B&B, but I definitely made the right choice.
I stayed in the Garden Room, which was perfect for my needs. Everything was immaculately clean, and the bathroom was at the end of a long hall which was quirky but worked fine. The private deck was amazing, and I spent one whole morning passed out in a shady hammock.
WiFi connection was strong, and the entire property was amazingly quiet (almost too much so at times, but that’s a whole other story).
The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was simply amazing each morning. As I was the only guest on property for the first few nights, they were flexible with my breakfast time, which was greatly appreciated (and something that is rare at B&B stays in my experience). I also ordered dinner the night I arrived so I wouldn’t have to hunt for food after a long day of travel, and I’m so pleased I did. For less than $ 20, I got pecan-​crusted trout with wild rice and a fresh salad, with a half bottle of wine thrown in. After that I savored sitting in the huge hot tub.
All in all a great place to stay, and after I saw where some of my friends stayed in the area, I’m confident in saying this is a top choice for the Dripping Springs/​Wimberley area.
