Wave Pizza Café

Fantastic pizza at a great price! We only wish they’d deliver.
After mediocre experiences at both Pizazz and Duck Pizza Co. we were hesitant to try another pizza place in Duck. I’m so glad we went for it.
The casual atmosphere and the friendly staff made our visit an extremely pleasant one. We were promptly waited on and the menu items were explained thoroughly. After being notified of the approximate wait time we were directed to the seating area to await our order. While there COULD be a little more seating I cannot possibly fault the restaurant for this since the boardwalk only allows for a smallish amout of space.
The Pizza: I’ve come to expect underwhelming culinary experiences in the OBX… so I was pleasantly surprised when our pizzas and cheese bread arrived at our table. The crust was the perfect balance between crunchy and chewy and they didn’t skimp on the cheese. Their sauce has a light, clean taste that doesn’t leave your breath reeking of garlic and oregano for hours and all of the toppings were of high quality.
Speed: Our order came out right on time. (20 minutes)
Location: It’s almost a no brainer… But sit outside! The view is spectacular!
Price: Our family of 5 ate here for less than $ 55 even with two beers and tip. (Be sure to take advantage of any beer specials they have going on!) I consider that to be a fantastic value even when not on vacation.
We will be returning here at least once during our next stay in the Outer Banks.

Pizza is served by the slice or whole. Lots of options to choose from.
And their location can’t be beat– right on the boardwalk in duck, with a great outdoor deck for eating and enjoying the sound view.
The folks next to us got a veggie pizza, and the smell of fresh peppers cooked on the pizza wafted to our table and made me wish we had ordered that too.
But alas we got pizza by the slice– choices were pepperoni or plain. Our pizza wasn’t bad– large foldable slices, good amt of cheese. A little light on flavor and the crust was hard… But overall, pretty tasty.
Slices were $ 3, whole pies were around $ 15 – 18. And there was a decent wine and beer selection– most folks will find something that appeals on the menu.
Two ladies up at the counter said it was the best pizza they ever ate. I’m from Philadelphia so I can’t say it’s in the top ten best slices I’ve ever had, but it’s a good option for kids and adults. And pizza and beer is a classic combo, made better at the beach.

After so many mediocre or even bad pizzas on the Outer Banks (including many that were highly reviewed on Unilocal), it was very refreshing to find Wave Pizza Café last year during our annual trip. As a New York, born and bred, I believe I know good pizza and Wave is the best – actually the only decent – pizza near Duck. We had the Margarita pizza (not true Margarita in that it had regular tomato sauce in addition to tomato slices), and a «Surfer Girl» special ordered without cheese and both were delicious. The former had a delightfully tasty crust with a hint of salt. I don’t always finish my crusts (carbs!) but I finished this one. This is not New York pizza, but it’s close and tastes wonderful.

We come to Duck several times a year. We have had Wave Pizza a few times, but more often than not… they are CLOSED. The pizza is pretty good, but they only seem to be open regularly during the summer tourist season.

Very solid, consistent, basic NY style pizza. Free, fast delivery. The delivery driver even had a treat to give to our dog.

Ordered takeout here on the first night of our vacation. Pizza was delicious, especially the margarita!

Skimpy on the toppings for the price and only offer a 16″ as the largest.
Everything is expensive in Duck, so grabbing a couple was the lowest cost option for a bigger family. I would eat it again. It is a thin crust pizza.

Good pizza, BIG and relatively interesting salads. Porch very pleasant. Service was warned as slow. It was slower.

Pizza is AMAZING!!! We got it as an easy dinner one night while on vacation & I had to go back a few days later for more :) the café is cute and very clean! They have indoor and outdoor seating! The outdoor picnic tables are very big & can fit a whole family. The girl at the register was very friendly & nice, bathrooms were super clean as well!
We will definitely be coming here more often :)

Pizza really good, crust awesome. Ordered one surfer girl and one cheese, both really good! Great atmosphere on the boardwalk, even brought the family dog!

Nice staff and solid pizza and good beer selection! Stopped in because my 2 year old was hungry — they had our pizza ready in minutes and it was made fresh, with fresh ingredients and perfectly warm.

We’ve only done carry out and delivery, but Wave’s has become our go-​to place. OK, one does NOT go to Duck, NC for pizza, so don’t expect NYC selection. Our family has been coming to Duck for almost 30 years and purchased a house almost 20 years ago, so we ate Pizzaz for years. Finally, about 6 years ago, we got sick and tired of overpaying (and waiting) for marginal pizza. One of our permanent friends recommended Wave a few years ago and we’ve been pretty pleased. We stay with the specialty pizzas or the Tidal Wave — never been disappointed.

First trip to Corolla, after we checked in the rental agency suggested Wave pizza. We ordered a half bacon half sausage and it came out burned so I returned to the counter with pizza and asked for a remake, they gave me no problem. I felt the second pizza was pretty decent for beach pizza. I would give it another try.

The pizza was fine. Nothing exceptional about it. It’s better than most beach pizza. BEWARE, they automatically added a 15% tip to a carryout order without letting me know. That’s pretty shady. That alone is enough to put me off from ever ordering from them again.

Pizza was delivered 1.5 hours after ordering. Required a three pizza minimum for delivery during the weekend. Pizza was not tasty at all. It was thin and tough with minimal toppings, cheese and sauce. Definitely not worth the wait. Very disappointing especially given the other Unilocal reviews here.

Good pizza with nice spices. The crust was soft and delicious also. The pepperoni pizza was a little greasy but it wasn’t too bad.

I’ve had Pizzazz Pizza and Duck Pizza on multiple occasions the past several years while in Duck, and finally tried Wave Pizza as something new — it’s now my favorite. We ordered two large pizzas — one plain and one with half sun dried tomatoes and half bacon. Their pizzas are nice balance between thin and medium size crust and they’re not greasy. The plain is tasty, not necessarily needing any spices. The bacon and sun dried tomato toppings were delicious, with the bacon being my favorite. Also, they aren’t cheap with toppings — I love a pizza with good coverage!
I can’t wait to go back and try more. Also, while we waited for the pizza I ordered a beer and sat on a bench by the sound; they have several craft brews and a seasonal.

Great pizza and a scenic place to enjoy it! The fancy food places are easy to find in Duck, but the casual places you have to search a bit for as they’re usually tucked in the back.
The pizza here is very good thin crust NY style pies, you can buy it by the slice, and they have a great selection of bottled beer. Best part is you get to enjoy your slice on a sound front deck overlooking a beautiful view. There’s not another place in Duck that gives you fast food and a waterfront deck to enjoy it.
Come solo with a book or bring the dog or family. Good find, great ‘za!
