Came for a particular type of tennis shoe and left with exactly the shoes I wanted plus packs of low and high sports socks. Taking my time I saw a couple women’s sports outfits and matching t-​shirts, easily spending over $ 600 by the time I got to the check out counter. This not a place you come for bargains. Instead you’ll find a huge array of brands with wide merchandise choices for whatever sport you’re into.
For people living an active lifestyle it doesn’t get much better. They have two full floors of clothing and equipment but still lack personnel available to help their customers suggest an appropriate gift or put individual pieces of clothing together for a complete look. I felt like I was wandering in a colorful warehouse leisurely collecting whatever I needed, culminating in paying the bill.
TIP: Do not arrive expecting traditional customer service or you’ll leave disappointed.

It’s like a Superstore here. It has everything we could imagine. If they don’t have it in stock, they will ship it to you free. I’m tempted to try a few new sports based on their stock.

Their boxing section is sad. I know a lot of its online, but compared to the rest of the store and all the variety, this shouldn’t even be called a section. 3 stars because I left a water bottle there and a guy that worked there found it for me. Thanks again! (And it’s also a generally good store.)

Visiting Dick’s sporting Goods store in Sterling Town Center Virginia a couple time. I felt uncomfortable when being watched. Employee are not so friendly there. Simple for me, shop somewhere else.

I probably wouldn’t normally write a review for a big chain store like this, but I was so pleased with the great service I received today, I decided I needed to write something.
I went to «The Lodge» section (guns, ammo, bows, arrows, etc) and was helped by Ralph with archery stuff. Ralph was very helpful and informative. I took an old bow in to have the draw-​weight adjusted. He did that, checked out a bunch of other things on the bow and taught me several things that I didn’t know. We practiced shooting several arrows in their indoor single-​lane test range behind the sales counter.
One of the other sales associates made my wife’s day when he could see she was bored while waiting for me, he offered to play patty-​cake with her to pass the time. So she did. That was hilarious.

Lots and lots of athletic clothes for all types of activities. There is tons of equipment for everything to camping, fishing, cycling, in line skates, weight lifting, etc… Good selection of shoes as well. This is a pretty large location as there are two floors. Located in the mall close to Macy’s.

Worst customer service of any retail store I’ve ever shopped in. Good selection of items and good location. If they could work on their customer service I would shop often. My last purchase was of a pair of soccer shoes for my 5 yr old. I’ll be returning to the store because the box had two completely different sizes in it. Any other store will check the sizing before you purchase but not at Dick’s. My experience is they will hassle me when I return these too…
Update: Yes as predicted the store gave us a hard time when trying to exchange the shoes. The poor customer service even gets worse. I’m going to do my best to avoid this store in the future.

I will never go to a Dick’s again. I took my Rewards card off my key chain and chucked it behind the Sterling, VA locations customer service desk. When I went upstairs to purchase ammunition I was told «We don’t have it». I asked when will you get it, the answer was, «I don’t kow, whenever the truck comes» SERIOUSLY??? I said when does the truck come? The answer, «I don’t know, you can call me every day at 9am to find out?» I promptly left took the rewards card off my key chain after I felt like he told me to «F» off. These guys are complete jerks and don’t deserve decent working people’s money!!!

This is probably more of a 3.5, but I found what I was looking for and had difficulty finding elsewhere so I’m rounding up. It’s a very large sporting goods store, with two floors covering wide variety of things from ‘standard’ sports through hunting and camping. Dick’s has a nice, open set-​up, despite them amount of things on display. The staff’s friendly; however, how knowledgeable each person is about the section they’re working in – and whether there’s someone working at any given time knowledgeable in general about each section — seems to vary widely.

I go to Dick’s Sporting Goods quite often. I’ve purchased athletic wear, non-​athletic wear, free weights, ear plugs (for shooting), running shoes, and probably other things I can’t remember at Dick’s. Their selection is good. They will have most general items that you might possibly have a need for.
If you’re looking for something very specialized, you might have a hard time finding it here.
They have an alright selection of rifles and shotguns, but no pistols.
Their prices are decent, and you can always find a decent amount of stuff on sale whenever the seasons change.
Sometimes it’s hard to find an employee to help with a question, or when it gets really crowded the lines can get crazy long at the check-​out. On one occasion I just left and decided not to make my purchase as a result, but I went back later and it was fine.
Overall I recommend Dick’s because of the selection and prices.

Ok, I am changing my rating with this update as I am now a satisfied customer! :) Despite all of the frustration over the past three weeks, several Dick’s Sporting Goods employees — Ghazi (bike tech), Larry (bike dept), Pedro (front end mgr), and Nick (not sure of position) — apologized and did what they could to make things right. Ghazi worked on both of my bikes today. He replaced both tubes in the Diamondback for free (with permission from mgmt). All of these employees went out of their way to make sure I was happy and would be a repeat customer. I’m always happy when people do what they think is necessary to make things right and glad the issues have been resolved. :)

Fantastic store!
They have a very wide variety of all types of sporting goods. If you are looking for something sports-​related, you’ll likely find it here (except for guns, but I’m not really into that anyway.)
I particularly like the large golf and baseball sections. I buy all sorts of athletic apparel at this store as well.
The store is quite large, in a great location, and the employees have always been helpful to me.
I can’t really think of a single negative thing to say about this particular store.
