I enjoyed an excellent«Harvest Sandwich» with cranberry and turkey with a delicious chocolate banana espresso drink. Nice atmosphere. Very homey and relaxed with great local artwork.

Went to check out this new coffee house. The décor is cute, especially for a really new place. They had a few nice paintings hung and some antiques placed around. It was just the owner and her husband behind the counter and they are still getting into the swing of things. They accept more than cash so that was convenient. They were both friendly and kind. The menu was handwritten and a little difficult to make out. I couldn’t tell for sure so I asked but sadly they didn’t have chai tea. When I asked, the owner said the mix was a little expensive so she hasn’t added it yet. I avoid places that want to serve me mix in favor of places with their own recipes. There wasn’t any other tea, and since I can’t drink coffee but wanted to order something and support their new place, I opted for the raspberry smoothie. Big mistake. When she handed it to me she told me that the mix was pretty good but didn’t come with a lot of instructions. Doh! It was watery, tasted like powder, and I ended up pouring it out. My boyfriend ordered an americano. They didn’t ask if he wanted room for cream. Normally we have coffee in the establishment we are at but they didn’t ask if we wanted it for here or to go. It came in a paper cup and was probably poured in too hot as it tasted like wax and paper. He also ended up pouring it out. I have owned my own business since 1998 and I don’t often give bad reviews because I know what goes into even opening the doors to begin with. But they are going to need to step it up a notch or two to stay in biz down at RJ’s. Hats off for their effort. I will stop in another day and see if they’ve improved.
