When my heat pump needed replacing, Shumate made it exceedingly easy. The sales rep was very helpful both with finding a replacement quickly, helping me with the financing procedure, and scheduling the installation. As for the installation crew … they were great. The three man crew arrived at 8:15 a.m. and were finished by 12:30. They were very professional and polite and did a super job. They made sure everything around the heat pump was sealed so that no rodents could gain access to the crawl space. And, unbeknownst to me, some of the ducts in the crawl space had fallen and they tacked them back up. I am very pleased with Shumate and have been singing its praises to anyone who will listen.

We could not have experienced a more positive solution to our heating and air conditioning needs. Swift Tyler extended genuine interest in our project, and truly seemed to engage our system issues to a point where we were fully confident in his recommendations. The installation team was professional, courteous, and extremely efficient in completing both furnace and air conditioning replacements in under 4 hours. I could not be happier with Shumate. Dennis set the tone with two excellent, thorough quotes. I was surprised to receive pricing well below the rest of the «big» companies (even though they did not address several key items), and a very fast installation timetable. On the day of install, Ronaldo and the crew were great. They were timely, respectful of my property and family, and very thorough. This was my first time replacing a complete HVAC system, and Shumate made it a quick, painless, and relatively inexpensive process. I will be happy to recommend Shumate to my family and friends.

I wanted to commend Shumate for doing the right thing. A year and a half ago, I used Shumate to install a new HVAC system after my old one died and after my former HVAC service provider tried to gouge me on a new system. A month ago, my new system malfunctioned. While the unit is still under warranty, on paper, I was to be responsible for the labor charges – which could have topped $ 1000. I took issue with that, communicated that to the powers that be, and Shumate fixed the problem at no charge to me. Along the way I was made aware of what was going on, was treated like a person and not a potential money source, and truly feel like I can trust them to tell me the truth about my system (unlike my former HVAC provider). If you’re in the market for a heating and air conditioning service provider, strongly consider Shumate. I’m really glad I did.

I have been thoroughly pleased with the customer, installation, and preventive maintenance services I’ve received from Shumate Mechanical over the past 18 years. When I purchased my property, the previous owners informed me they had a PM contract with Shumate. I continued to maintain the PM contract with them as well. The furnace lasted 26 years before it needed replacing. The also replaced my hot water heater and converted it from gas to electric. Their installs are neat and seamless to the property owner. And, the installers are professional. They leave your property neat and clean.

Could not be more pleased with my first experience with Shumate. While a competitor had me on a 2 week standby appointment, they got me in within 2 days (which is something as it’s 96 degrees out and everybody is having issues). The price was miraculous and the technician, Jeff Chapman, was a pleasant and knowledgeable man who despite what I can only imagine was a long day, was still smiling when he got to my house at 5pm on a Monday. I signed up for the maintenance plan and could not be happier! Thanks Shumate!

I’m not one to post and recommend services, but this is one that I feel needs to be shared. Our heat pump compressor died last November (only six years old, one year out of warranty), and we had to replace. We had four companies come out (Cool Air, Cool Ray, Estes, and Shumate).
Our salesman, Shaun Hoover, from Shumate was by far the best! No matter how many questions (there were many and hours on the phone) he showed no sign of irritation but was very through and patient with us. Shaun did not pressure us in any way to make a decision. His quotes were detailed and there was no doubt as to what you are buying. Shaun is professional and we felt comfortable working with him. Shaun was hands on even with our install, which was flawless and only took three hours. The install crew arrived at 8am on the dot and was done by 11am.
Also, Shaun was helpful in getting us rebates with Georgia Power which equalled $ 200.
Our HVAC works wonderfully and we are very happy with the price, quality of product, and service.

I scheduled an appointment to have a sales associate/​technician come out and give an estimate regarding our dysfunctional air conditioning system. The appointment was for 2pm which was a precise time and not a window of time. Shortly after 1pm, I received a call from the technician stating that he was available and could come straight away if I was agreeable. This was okay because it was a benefit to me to just get it done earlier.
This is noteworthy because not everyone is able to be flexible because of work or other responsibilities. I don’t know what was communicated to him by his office, perhaps HE was given a window of time. Just know that technicians always want to come earlier than agreed because they are running a tight schedule and don’t want to be hanging around for an hour and a half waiting for that next appointment.
If your time is tighter just make sure that you mention this during your initial contact and when you get the call confirming the time just mention that you need to stick to the scheduled time due to time constraints.
Chris arrives and we talk about the problems we are having with our cooling system and what we are needing at this point. It is good to know something about the systems that are available, (Trane vs. Lenox) because this could be a deciding factor when selecting a service provider as they represent different manufacturers. Although we are concerned about both units, he advises us that we should it evaluated by one of their technicians, (different department), and their service call is approximately $ 90.
Chris should get an award for being able to «keep up with me». He was patient and «hung» in there. I had been up since 4am and by 1:30 I still had not eaten anything. The day just got away from me so I was «all over the place». Chris had no problem repeating information and it was helpful that as he was talking he was actually showing me the specific areas that needed to be upgraded, (this was consistent with the prior estimate).
After Chris prepares his estimate, he doesn’t just give me the folder and leave, he actually goes through his findings and explains the estimate. I really appreciated that he gave me options with an explanation, (the basic vs higher end system and their differences). As he is going over the information, I notice that he has highlighted key information which is very helpful, (because remember I am «going down fast» and my comprehension as this point is probably at 20%.
I appreciated getting some specific information about the Lenox systems because this will give me something to work with as I go forward with my research. I did not get this with my prior estimate. The estimate provided is very thorough and will give me a lot to consider.
I refer to Chris as the «Shumate Showman» because he didn’t just give an estimate, he gave a thorough and passionate presentation. He provided great information and education. He also put on shoe covers prior to entering my home which was appreciated. Details definitely matter to me.
For his presentation alone, (physical and oral) he deserves five stars.

Very timely service and great techs. Shaun Hoover has helped us replace both furnaces and air conditioners over the years and he has given us clear information and options. «Ice Man» handled our furnace installation yesterday. Amazingly professional with great customer care.

After receiving three competitive bids, one from a big box store, I chose Shumate. Although they had done the original install 16 years ago in the house under new construction, that was not a factor as they had not been the primary service company over the years. What swayed me was their customer service focus as they picked the right product set to address our needs. The others were either way overkill or bare minimum to get the business. I would like to note that because they had done the work previously, they had anticipated running extra lines and tubes from the attic in case of contingency. Great job 16 years ago too!
The guys arrived exactly on time, laid down protectors for the floor and then staged their equipment. I was replacing both an upstairs and downstairs unit, and never felt compelled to have to watch where they were going. You can trust these guys. Their quote was «we are going to do right for you».
The installation was incredible. It’s hard to describe, but you can tell great craftsmanship when it looks simple and neat. They greatly simplified the intakes and out-​takes to the inside units, improved reliability with switches and pans, improved the insulation of lines, and made a really neat install of the outside units with new pads. Wow!
Here is the best part. For the components they replaced, they were also the least expensive and fastest to get the work done. Great crew led by a great organization.

I’ve used Shumate twice, within a month, for separate HVAC problems. From my initial phone call for service, through the completion of the needed repairs, I received excellent service. Each person I spoke with was pleasant, helpful, and responsive to my concerns (having no A/​C, during a sweltering Atlanta summer). The technicians arrived exactly when they said they would. They were courteous, friendly, neat in appearance, professional, and knowledgeable. I felt confident that my HVAC system was in good hands. I will call Shumate, in the future, for their services. As I always do, when I receive excellent customer service, or an excellent product, I will be spreading the word about my experience with Shumate; because, good service deserves to be recognized

Quick service with no bs. They gave us options to complete the repair. They are super friendly, clean, and arrived on time.

Had an appointment from 8 – 12 PM no one showed. Called and was told someone would be there 3 – 6 PM. No one came. Took off work that day. I prepaid for a A/​C tune up. Unacceptable service

My AC broke last night, and since I’ve used Shumate before (I was indifferent to the service), I decided to call them again — especially since they promise same day service. I called as soon as they opened this morning, and was put right through to someone in residential service. I was very disappointed to hear that they didn’t have an appointment available until Monday. I think that if a company promises same day service, they should follow through with that promise. This is definitely something that will keep me from using their services again, and they should seriously consider doing something about their false advertising.

Thus far they are the best company I’ve used for servicing my AC. I found them through Google. I made an appointment for the next day and received a confirmation email with the time. The technician, Luis showed up on time and was very professional. He troubleshot the problem and found out I had a bad switch that had finally gone out. The previous company that worked on it would just refill the freon. Anyhow the work was good and the service was great. I recommend.

Just had Shumate out to fix my air. They were quick, efficient, polite, and friendly. All I needed was more refrigerant. Phil, the technician, informed me of my options and was quick about his service. I’m much happier with the service at Shumate — I’ve tried others and they not nearly as quick or friendly (and even got things wrong and had to come back out).
The only downside is they give you a 6 hour window for the tech to come out — too long! They do give you a warning call, which works for me since I work 5 minutes from my house, but if I wasn’t so lucky that is much too long.
They somewhat made up for it by being able to come out 2 days after I called.

Every morning, I listen to Sandy Shumate’s radio commercial guaranteeing 24 hour service. In the winter, I listened to the commercials about Shumate promising same day service for heating. Well, guess what? It’s BS. I came home to find my air conditioner isn’t working, so I called Shumate. It is Monday and they told me that they don’t have an appointment until Friday. I know that it is 100 degrees and there are probably half a million people in Atlanta with AC problems, but a company should not make promises that it cannot keep. I was going to give this business two stars, since one of their promises was kept. A very nice human being answered the phone right away. That doesn’t excuse their promise of 24 hour service and I’m hot and cranky, so I’m not adding the star.

Despite me giving Shumate 2 stars, I’ve actually been pretty pleased with them when they don’t send Tino to my damn house. Yesterday, the air was acting flaky. I called. I asked them to NOT send Tino out because every time they do, it ends up with me getting pissed off and calling and bitching someone out. To be fair– I will put the pros first and then the cons.
Pro– When they don’t send Tino to your house, they are awesome. They are fast, they are on point, they take care of you and you couldn’t ask for better service or a better buch of people…
However.

Con– When they send Tino, prepare to have your blood pressure go up and prepare to be told that there isn’t anything wrong with your air even though there damn well is!
The first time he came out was the first fall after I had gotten a new AC. He fiddled around with stuff for FOUR hours and was never able to fix it and had to call someone else who fixed it (when they put the AC in, something in the furnace was too big so when we started using the heat, there was too much air and the fire was getting blown out.)
This was also the time he just left the door open and didn’t bother to tell me that my cat, who only lives inside had gotten out. I didn’t know he had gotten out until I saw him out the window.
He came out a second time and couldn’t fix whatever the issue was. Again, someone else had to come out and fix it.
In March, I turned the air on for the first time and everything was fine until the temp outside would go down some and then the unit would make this weird noise (a buzzing sound of sorts) and the air would not come out as much as normal. He told me it was because the temp outside was low and I should call when it got warmer.
Basically, I’ve been dealing with this weird noise half ass air thing since then and finally got around to calling them. I specifically asked for them to NOT send Tino. I told them that every time he came to my house he was never able to fix anything. Who did they send? Tino. What did he do? He puttered around and then said because of all the rain lately, there was an issue with the compressor. I know we have been having a lot of rain lately and I know it messes everything up, but DAMN! This has been going on since March. I called and they sent someone out and he determined that I had a negative pressure issue and you know what? He was right! Since I dealt with that problem, the air has been working perfectly. Thanks for nothing Tino.

In a nutshell, if you call Shumate, make them swear that they will not send Tino to your house!
