Above & Beyond Catering

Jill and Jessica at Above & Beyond were an absolute pleasure to work with. They provided excellent service and beautiful, delicious food for my wedding. My tasting with them was fantastic – delicious, great conversation, and I got to take home left-​overs! They were extremely helpful and professional with planning and making sure to ask all the important questions. They were also very accommodating, considering the non-​traditional nature of our wedding (Kosher food, but not a religious wedding). They also did not bat an eye about making everything work in a venue that provided almost nothing kitchen-​wise (The Greenpoint Loft). Jill was kind enough to make us menus to match my invitation, free of charge. Several people commented on how delicious the cocktail hour h’ordeuvres were. Their day-​of coordinator was excellent as well (Raoul?).
I really hate to not give them 5 stars, but there was one disappointing element: My seating chart was, needless to say, made VERY carefully. On the day of the wedding, the caterers decided to move a table. Unfortunately, they chose my mother-in-law’s table and it was thus separated from the rest of the groom’s family’s tables, on the other side of the room – our friends’ side – and right next to the DJ. I completely understand there was a need for a change, but I don’t understand why I was not asked about the change – and at the very least, asked WHICH table to move. When I let Above & Beyond know about my disappointment (after the wedding, as I did not realize the change until the meal was already underway), I was told this was a necessary move (I also can’t help thinking they could have realized this necessary move at the walk through we did weeks before, or at any point once they had the chart and knew the specs of the space). There was no apology or attempt to recompense, which was especially disappointing. Again, everything else was wonderful.

I would give this caterer 10 stars if the rating existed. The food was great, service impeccable, a pleasure to work with and handled everything professionally and catered to those people who needed menu adjustments. They were able to answer questions about ingredients, and met the needs of the most picky eaters.
Would definitely use again.

We had Above and Beyond Cater an entire weekend wedding (friday night to sunday night) in Lenox Mass for 200 people and it was amazing! Everyone loved the food! The staff is a pleasure to work with and felt like family by the end of the wedding. They are also great at presentation and making things look both beautiful and appetizing. After the affair we began brainstorming when we could hire them next!

My daughter was married at a private home in a beautiful setting in Rhinebeck, NY on September 1^st. This meant bringing everything to the site. As the wedding was strictly kosher, we interviewed many of the «top-​rated kosher caterers» in the NY/​NJ area. We narrowed it down to three caterers. After personal interviews with all three, and a great deal of work, we chose Above and Beyond. There was no comparison. Jill’s ability to understand exactly what the bride wanted and the style in which it was to be executed was amazing. The personal touches, the confidence in addressing each detail, and the the professionalism of the entire staff was extraordinary. The presentation was elegant and the food was beyond anything that we could have imagined. We continue to receive raves including how the fish entre option was the best fish our guests had ever eaten. Nothing was left to chance. The caterer’s ability to work with the other vendors (tent, musicians, photographer, florist) was beyond reproach and each vendor had wonderful praises of Above and Beyond, as well as Jill and Jonathan personally, something that often is not the case. The bride and groom had very specific ideas of how things should be done, the timing and presentation, and everything exceeded what we hoped and dreamed.
Jill and Above and Beyond was instrumental in making this wedding come together and for it to be a beautiful, once in a lifetime, experience. Her hard work, long hours and unending patience and professionalism, extraordinary food, and attention to detail, made this the most amazing experience and a truly magical night.

My soon to be Mother in Law used Above and Beyond Catering for her 60^th birthday party. A delicious Mediterranean spread of grape leaves, hummus, babaganoush, pita chips, fresh fruit, arugula with cranberry salad and veggies was offered to guests. We enjoyed the foods. Their service was impeccable, clean, and prompt.
For my upcoming wedding, my fiancé and I made an obvious decision to go with Above and Beyond. (for those interested, they are Glatt Kosher). The menu is comprehensive yet not overwhelming. The owner of the company, Jill, is precise with details and easy to work with. Most recently, we scheduled an early tasting so we have a chance to add the meal options on our RSVP cards. We picked their Manhattan kitchen and sampled a variety of dishes. I wasn’t sure what to expect for the tasting. I half hearted wondered if it would be a family style option, pick at the food etc. No. These guys served us individual plates of the entrees, showing us plating options and all.
I was incredibly impressed with their professionalism and the food itself! I can’t wait for the wedding!
