WOW! WOW! WOW! Does that adequately convey my enthusiasm for Chicken Delight? First of all, lets be honest about expectations. This review is for a cheap storefront operation, where you can satisfy your need for a fried chicken fix. The help was gregarious, they got my order correct, my dinner was fresh and hot, and the place was cleanish, if a little time worn. It is not a Michelin starred restaurant… If you go here expecting ambience, witty repartee’, and an extensive wine cellar, you’re F’n delusional!!! That said, this particular location(HIdden in the strip mall at the circle where Knickerbocker Road, and Madison Ave. intersect.) has been serving up fresh, hot, fried chicken for 50 years give or take. THAT’S 50YEARSPEOPLE!!! I know, because as a kid, my Dad would occasionally pick up a bucket with fries on a Friday night. I’d be salivating as soon as that ethereal aroma started to tug at my olfactories. How many other places do you know around here still serving it up after a half century? Now I haven’t stopped in here since maybe the 90’s, possibly even the 80’s, but decided I’m getting me some fried chicken for dinner, and you know what? In this world of food disappointments, and«NEWIMPROVEDRECIPES»(always changed for the worse), Chicken Delight tastes exactly the same as I remember!!! Crispy, Juicy, Hot, and not oversalted like the big boy competitors KFC or Popeye’s. The Snozberries taste like Snozberries, and the Chicken tastes like Chicken!!! Also, they’ve got old school Crinkle Cut French Fries, not the ones with the stay — crisp coating, which to me are inedible. What I ordered: A four piece meal, basically half a cut up chicken(not sure if it was a mistake, but I discovered a 5th piece, an extra wing hiding under my fries) a dinner roll(Yea just a soft little old dinner roll, not a biscuit) and the above mentioned, crinkle cut fries. $ 6.95 An order of ribs — just nice babybacks,(oddly enough served with two packets of Chinese Duck Sauce, as opposed to BBQ) that were pull apart tender, moist, and with just enough char.(These are not long — smoked BBQ ribs, OK? So don’t order expecting those.) In the old days, their ribs were the big St. Louis Cut Spare Ribs, served separated, not as a rack. These were actually tastier. $ 10.95 for something a little smaller than a full rack. The bottom line — Want to experience fried chicken as I did 45 or more years ago? Want your Chicken Fried to order?(If a walk in like me, expect to wait 10 to 15 minutes.) Are you constantly going back to KFC or Popeye’s because it’s easy, even if you think it doesn’t taste as good as it used to, and you keep hoping that will somehow change? Well then, get yourself over to the Cresskill/Dumont Circle, and experience some deep — fried euphoria of your own!!! BTW — if you drive around the circle to Madison Ave. heading West, the first driveway on your right, will take you right to parking for the place. Don’t Cook Tonight! Call Chicken Delight!

You really have to look at this place with low expectations. It has the look of a small, inner-city food place and it’s not exactly trying to look flattering. But it’s hard to complain when the prices are so low. $ 6 gets you 3 enormous pieces of chicken and a whole mess of fries, which are absolutely delicious. So in that regard, it does its job as comfort food. The meals are a great deal, as you can get a combination of a wing, thigh, leg, and breast with fries. The chicken is not seasoned, so it’s basically just breaded chicken thrown into a fryer. At least it’s always crispy and hot.

Way to greasy! And not really much taste. I was hoping it would be a much better experience but was sadly disappointed

We tried this place for the first time. WOW, nice big juicy pieces of chicken. We got the family meal, #1, 8 pieces, cole slaw, bread, and a ton of fries. My son got the ribs meal. Everything was fantastic! And a great price.

This place is delish! Chicken is always fresh. I ordered a few pieces for Thanksgiving the day of and they were accommodating. I will def go back, when I am in the mood for fried chicken.

The food tastes good and it’s good comfort food no doubt. But they literally get the food out of the cooler and fry it. But they do it fast and they deliver. So that’s a plus.

I was very hopeful for Chicken Delight as it has gotten some nice reviews and is much closer than KFC or Popeyes for us. While it is nice that they fry the chicken to order versus having it served under a heat lamp as per the other places, the chicken was no more moist or fresh tasting than the others, and the batter had absolutely no flavor or seasoning to it whatsoever. It just tasted like chicken that was lightly dredged in unseasoned breadcrumbs and fried. And the chicken tenders we got for the kids were similarly bland as well as tough, dry, and chewy, and neither of the kids liked them nearly as much as KFC or Popeyes — nor did I or my wife. The fries were similarly unremarkable and unsatisfying, and the bbq sauce they provided for the chicken was clearly the garden variety supermarket bottled sauce(I’m thinking Bullseye) that did absolutely nothing to help the situation. Very disappointed given the other alternatives available and will not be going back despite having to travel further and maybe even pay a little more for other options. Too bad.

This place is CRACK, if you want some good fried chicken you come here. The pieces are ridiculously big, crisp, and juicy; I always eat here with a friend as tradition when we are home on break from college, and they chicken is always consistently fresh and never dry. I’m used to getting their family special #1, which comes with fries(HOTDAMN they’re good), breadrolls(they’re tasty but nothing too special), and choice of side(I recommend the macaroni salad). Also, if you don’t get their hot sauce on the side, you’re really missing out on some SUPAHOTFIYAH

Their name fits them well; the chicken here is very good and prepared in front of you. I tried one of their specials, don’t remember what it was named, but it included two pieces of fried chicken and fries and both were really nice.
