Mile Hi Rafting

Our guide Ryan pretty much summed up this tour in one word… awesome-​sauce. Him and his brother Sean lead us up the mountain on our ATVs across rocky switchback trails, open dirty trails and even into an abandoned silver mine (on foot). Me and my buddies ranged in skill from advanced to first time on an ATV, yet they kept the pace moving and maximized our time on the mountain. If you’re ever in Denver, this is definitely worth the trip out!

Had a blast on our ATV tour with Shawn! I thought that the pricing was fair for the two hour ride. I highly recommend booking it with four or more and make sure to read the online information they have on what to wear. The only downfall was getting paired up with two others female riders that were not moving fast at all and had no prior experience. It was painfully slow at times but Shawn did a good job knowing that we wanted a little more excitement out of our ride. I will definitely be back and in the winter since this is very close to Denver about 45 – 50 minutes from downtown.

Wow what a day we had!!! I’ve never gone whitewater rafting and my trophy wife suggested it. I was coo but we have 3 kids under 9yo. No problem, we got hooked up at mile hi. Wet suits are supplied and for $ 3 you can rent boots. Short bus ride to the launch and our guide (roman) go over what you need to know. Now we’re in the water, nice slow pace to get use to it and down the river we hit a little more rocks and speed. The kids had a blast and so did we. They are friendly guides and good equipment. I’d highly recommend it to a novice, but after talking to them they have much faster rivers for the more experienced rafter.

My girlfriend and I set up a Saddle to Paddle adventure about a month before our trip. We asked if we could do a two hour ride then an intermediate rafting trip on Blast. They said it was no problem. I set up the times and payments and we seemed to be all set.
A few days before our reservation I called Mile Hi to confirm the reservation. I was told everything was on calendar, the two hour ride then rafting on Blast. We both were incredibly excited!
The horse riding was awesome, however the ride was done by a separate company, A&A Stables, who partner with Mile Hi for their package. This review has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HORSE BACK RIDING AT A&A STABLES! It’s solely about Mile Hi Rafting .
When we showed up to Mile Hi, pumped to get on some rapids, we were told that because nobody else signed up for the Blast trip we were unable to go due to weight restrictions and they could put us on the Sure-​Shot, which is the beginner rapids. This was a shock to us, and I asked why we weren’t notified of this sooner. Their response was that they wait to the last minute in case anyone makes a reservation. Needless to say this was a ridiculous response as there was no question they were aware of this possibility days ago, if not longer.
I would think any upstanding business would inform their customers of the possibility of a canceled trip happening upon reserving. This is completely understandable that trips need to be canceled due to weight requirements not being met (even though on their website video for Blast they show a 2 person raft. When this was brought to their attention their excuse was the two people on the raft were guides). But to wait until we drove over an hour away to be blindsided in to having no recourse but to take the beginner ride is unacceptable. To make it worse I should have been informed that there still wasn’t any other reservations when I called days prior to confirm and given my options. Instead they actually confirmed the rafting trip despite this knowledge. Again, no excuse other than being willfully deceptive and putting us in a terrible position upon arrival.
It’s unfortunate that companies care more about money than customer service, and Mile Hi is no exception (they did give us a $ 20 refund, the price difference between Blast and Sure-​Shot). The fact is if we were informed earlier of the possibility of our Blast trip being canceled we more than likely would have still gone on the beginning ride. But it would have been nice and decent service to at least give us the option of rafting the beginner course or rescheduling.
The only reason Mile Hi gets two stars is all because of our guide, Dan. Dan was awesome! If not for him our rafting trip would have been a disaster (the Sure-​Shot is akin to a rafting ride at an amusement park. Not even close to what we were looking for). He was incredibly informative about the area, funny, and because our raft was the only one without small children, let us do things that other rafts weren’t. He saved the day and unwillingly did his best to make up for Mile Hi’s nefarious business practices.
Bottom line is if you’re planning on taking the beginning Sure-​Shot rapids you shouldn’t have a problem. However, if you’re banking on taking an intermediate or advanced ride BUYER BEWARE! I would hate for anyone else to waste a day to not get what they were expecting at the last minute.

When we first walked in I was actually thrown off guard because an older lady who was working the desk was pretty rude. I was like… oh no… here comes the hours of fun… But the experience was absolutely wonderful! Our female rafting guide was friendly, hilarious, and knowledgeable. We had some small children on our raft and she made sure everyone knew what to do and was safe. I also had some special needs and she was more than accommodating. She joked with all of us and I could tell she really loved her job! All of the other staff were friendly and fun loving. I don’t leave a lot of reviews for places, but I had to for here because I was so impressed. And above all that, it was $ 38 for a 3 hour trip introductory trip! Amazing price with amazing quality. I will never go anywhere else

This was a first time rafting for our family of six. We have been to Breckenridge Colorado before but the various ages didn’t allow us to all raft so this was the first time all were old and big enough to enjoy and appreciate a ride in rapids versus a lazy float down the river. Friends had been here a week before but we decided to wait to make reservations until we could be closer to weather forecasts.
We decided on them based on the referral of friends, price of what was included and location. We arrived early and did wait a bit for another group that had checked in but was a little late returning. This was the only reason we had to complain.
The two guides were Peaches and Danimal. Being our first time rafting and choosing the intermediate rapids we didn’t know what to expect. Peaches spent a lot of time going over safety and worse case scenarios that we didn’t need this trip but were glad to have this info.
We had an epic family experience and the photo disc purchase made this even better. I hope to make another trip in the future. Its a small family business but I think quality and expertise are not lacking!

After planning a trip with Mile Hi as the cornerstone of the vacation I was informed via e-​mail that they would not be able to accommodate. I was able to reach them via phone and was promised they would help make alternative arrangements. Throughout the course of the day, after I was already in Colorado mind you, I called and was assured that the owner would confirm these plans when he returned from a rafting trip. I began to feel uncomfortable and had another member of our party call and ask for Dan, who cheerily came to the phone. When asked why we were being avoided we were told «sorry dude, nothing I can do.» If you are willing to play Russian Roulette with hard earned money and do not value integrity or good business practices, these are definitely the people for you. If you are making plans you should DEFINITELY find a different company.

What a joke. I made a reservation 3 months in advance for a bachelor party. The every time I spoke to Suzen Raymond, the manager, we discussed the possibilities of the water being too low to raft and I told her the camping was the most important part of the trip. The week before we arrived we talked three times and did everything from confirm our arrival time to finalize our breakfast plans. The day we arrived she emailed (didn’t even have the decency to call) and said «if you are not rafting, zoning won’t let you camp» when I called to ask why she couldn’t tell me that 3 months earlier she answered with «I dont know.» When I spoke to the owner, Dan, he said «sorry, dude, nothing I can do.» I doubt this comment will influence anyone’s decision to use them, but my hopes are that one day they will both read this comment while waiting in line at the temp agency after they are forced to close their doors for good. When they were polite until it really mattered, they proved nothing more than they are an unreliable business with shady practices and that they deserve to leave the rafting business to real professionals. Maybe they did this because they thought they could get away with screwing over tourists from out of town but either way, Dan and Suzen, if you are reading this, a McDonald’s in Harlem has more reliable customer service than Mile Hi Rafting. Epic fail.

We have a son with special needs and we really wanted to take the whole family on a rafting trip. This company went out of their way to bring in an extra guide so that we could do the trip. Bryan, our guide, made the trip so much fun for the entire family and we felt completely safe for our son Jared. If you are looking for a small family owned company that goes the extra mile, this one is it.

These guys are amazing. Despite fairly low water, they did a great job of making the intermediate trip fun. We wanted to do the longer trip but conditions wouldn’t let them run that stretch but they still put together a great ride. Loved the feel of dealing with a smaller, more personable outfit. Reservation staff was great and so were the guides.

We called in asking reservation policies for their ATV & train ride package. With a forecast of thunder storms all weekend & a multitude of outdoor activity offerings we figured they’d have an inclement weather policy. The girl we spoke to was completely unprofessional & unknowledgeable. You’d think she would be able to answer simple reservation questions, but Nope! The two times we called she yelled across the room to ask her supervisor questions. Come on! Act like you know & at the very least put me in hold! I’d like to know how many people she has thrown attitude for asking questions. Ridiculous.
Definitely not booking! We’re taking our business elsewhere.

Found them through their relationship with The Miners Pick B&B. Took their «Stay and Play» deal a 2 hr ATV tour and a night in the B&B. Though the location is a little out there the staff was professional and welcoming. Our guide took us on some great terrain, and was always willing to stop and take pictures. It was too cold for rafting but we will certainly be back.

Just came from ATV’g from Mile Hi Rafting, it was a blast. When my brother and I first arrived there the «owner» didn’t show the best customer service at all, her treatment was as if it was a bother that we were at the facility. She was not welcoming to our first visit to this establishment or that it was our first time riding ATV’s. We were so excited about it and she sucked that from us… at first. A waiver has to be signed and the waiver ask if you would want the insurance in the event something happens to the ATV, the insurance $ 10.00…sounds fair, then you take the form to the desk they tell you if anything happens to the ATV you are still responsible for the deductible of $ 750.00. Sounds so bogus… but when you rent a care you pay the insurance of $ 25.00 or so and that’s it… we are talking ATV that is so much less than a car, WTF.
We had a great guide named Brian, he’s an older man but was the best guide and explained the history of the town, he was cautious but was all about having a great time too. Although we had a great time I would not recommend this place to anyone. We have been rafting several times and there are far better places to try that give great customer service… if Brian was the owner I would come back, but he’s not.

This was our first time rafting and we couldn’t ask for a better company to go with. Sure there were bigger, more advertised companies available to raft down Clear Creek but I just loved that the people and company had character! ($ 47 for a 3hr intermediate trip)
My girl and I were lucky to get a raft all to ourselves. Boogy (our guide) was very knowledgeable and skilled, totally felt safe with him.
The company is ran out of probably the owner’s, Danimal, house. Lots of dogs and kids running around. It just felt like visiting your grandparents house, real laid back.
The equipment and transportation wasn’t fancy, but it does the job. No frills just rafting! All the staff members were helpful and friendly, too!
We will definitely go back to Mile-​Hi to raft down Clear Creek!!!
