Sail Honeymoon

Been renting kayaks from this business for years and never had an issue. Today I asked for a different one to accommodate my 6 foot 7 inch height and the attendant gave me a hard time and then when I pointed to one that I used last time he wouldn’t give it to me. He then tried to give me a shorter one. All the while he kept up with the attitude. I asked him why he was acting like an ass and he stormed off and called his boss. I believe the attendant’s name is Chris. After calling his boss Glen, and after explaining only his side of the story, Glenn ordered him to give me my money back and said he wouldn’t rent to me. In the meantime my family, who were already in their kayaks we’re about 50 yards offshore, I told them to go ahead without me. Every year I stay on Gulf Boulevard just south of Sand Key Park. I always told everyone who wanted a kayak to come over to this place because it was the best kayaking experience I’ve had in Florida. I talked to Glenn and explained the whole story and he said that he was told I «came on strong». I told him to check his video cameras and talk to the young man who runs the restaurant next to that place who witnessed the whole thing. He apparently did neither and I didn’t hear back from him. While my lack of any future recommendations won’t matter in the big scheme of things, I guarantee it will probably cost them a couple thousand dollars over the next five years or so in business. Chris is a terrible customer service person and Glen is an even worse manager. The young man who managed the restaurant however is going to be a success, he had a real good attitude and was very supportive. Super nice guy.

Rented 2 kayaks for the afternoon. Reasonably priced, and very nice. Chris was very friendly and showed excellent customer service. Will go here again for sure!

In Clearwater from Atlanta on a spring break trip with my daughter and some friends. We rented two double kayaks for four hours and kayaked over to Caladesi island. The water was so clear and amazing, we had a pod of dolphins following us on our way back. They were so close we could have touched them! The staff of Sail Honeymoon were great and provided everything we needed. It was the highlight of our trip. Will definitely come back again to rent Kayaks on our next trip to Clearwater!

Staff was rude. I had a groupon which I assumed was for their place since the address was the cuaseway. The young man was not only short with me but down right RUDE and condesending. I left and never will rent there again. I headed to honeymoon beach state park and show the staff my groupon and even though it wasn’t theirs they were so friendly and nice and HONORED it anyway. Thats what I called customer service!!! I will only rent from them from now on. Thank you again HONEYMOON BEACH STATE PARK KAYAK RENTALS!!!

I really wanted to kayak and this seemed like the perfect place over on the causeway. When we arrived we were quickly taken care of. The owner took good care of us and even told us a few good jokes. He was personable and helpful. He even gave us a free waterproof bag and showed us how to use it. It was easy to get a double kayak rental on a Saturday at noon. The rentals run from one hour, two hours and half or full day. It almost seemed like 2 hours wasn’t enough. It was so cool to be able to take a kayak out right there on the bay. I was very excited to get to kayak out to Caladesi Island. There was alot of traffic out on the water though so be careful. The young guys who worked down by the water were helpful and there were plenty of kayaks available. They also helped and took all of our equipment when we came back. I would recommend this place to those looking to rent a kayak.

I live right around the corner from the causeway and this was my first kayaking experience. I had a blast! I think I was relatively lucky because the water was very smooth. I went with a friend who has rented there frequently, so we just set out for Caladesi island. We did a 2 hour rental, which gave us time to go there, pull the kayaks out on the sand and swim around for a bit and then run along the St. Joseph sound side of Caladesi for a bit looking at all the sea– and wildlife. The proprietor was very friendly and joked around with us. I think it’s safe to say I may become a regular.

We went this past week twice, once just me and my husband and then we brought the kids back. David was very thorough explaining the area and giving safety tips and answered a gazillion questions my husband had. Wish we were more prepared for a four hour adventure but we did this on a whim and so glad we did. Now trying to figure out when I can do another all day jaunt to this little piece of paradise. AND I was over the moon excited to see up close a family of dolphin. I would suggest water shoes and a small cooler and enjoy!!!

Good location along the waterfront, seems like a good-​sized inventory of kayaks and paddle boards and convenient parking right between the road and the water.
There are restrooms, water fountains and a shower close by as well so you don’t have to climb back into your car with sand-​crusted feet.
The rental rates seem reasonable but I don’t rent often enough to say for sure if they are comparable to similar vendors in the market.
The water was somewhat calm, a lot of people were out on boards and kayaks, a few anchored boats were in the vicinity and the ferry and jet skiers keeping the water choppy as well. All in all a lovely area to enjoy paddling but I was pleased to have the breeze accompany us that day.
There was little instruction and almost no suggestions volunteered on where to go or how to make the most of our one-​hour trip. That is fine except it was my first time in that area so I would have welcomed a tip or two. While the transaction was handled quickly and efficiently, and we were swiftly greeted on our return by a staff member who quickly took control of the kayak, I felt it all seemed pretty lackluster in terms of making sure we were comfortable kayaking and knew what to do.
Signed the forms, signed for the credit card, grabbed the life jackets and off we went. Good thing we brought our own water so make sure to bring everything you need to enjoy the outing.

We rented kayaks from here to explore Caladesi Island. The guy was very friendly and helpful, the rates seem reasonable & they give you a free water-​safe bag for your phones and whatnot.

Went with a group to paddle to honeymoon and nearby area… We had folks renting and some bringing their own kayaks. Our group was not the most organized or timely bunch and the employees here didn’t bat an eye. Very patient!
They had our boats by the water ready for us and helped us all get onshore and settled when we returned.
I will definitely use them again!

Horrible, Horrible, HORRIBLE staff and there are ASSH*LES. We rented one kayak for 4 hours. When we returned we were 15 mins late, AND ALL THE STAFF said if you’re a little late it’s totally cool. NOT ONLY did the jerk make us pay an additional 20 $ for being late, but said if we didn’t he would call the cops. He also stated that he has children we were making him late for. HE HUNG AROUND FOR MORE THEN A HOUR AFTER HE GOT HIS TIP!!!$ NEVER GOING BACK, AND TELLING EVERYONE HOW EVIL YOU ARE

Sail Honeymoon offers a wide variety of kayaks (sit on top and sit-​in) and sailing trimaran rentals. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly, prices reasonable, and you can’t beat the location. Caladesi Island is a quick 15 minute paddle to one of North America’s top 10 rated beaches. Would definitely return!

We rented two kayaks from them to paddle to Caladesi last week during our trip to Florida. We chose to paddle over taking a ferry and we made the right choice. The owner warned us before renting us the kayaks that the wind was going to pick up later that day and we may be forced to return back. We were asked to keep an eye on the big american flag in case its rolled down signaling its time to turn back. Fortunately winds co-​operated that day and we enjoyed a nice afternoon on the Caladesi Island beach. Coming back was very difficult due to currents but the waters are shallow so you can get off the kayak and tow it. We enjoyed the experience very much. Prices were reasonable and they take credit cards. There is also a small trailer next door which sells snacks that you can take with you and have a picnic on Caladesi. The owner gave us some dry bags to keep our camera etc dry during kayaking.

My husband and I rented a sail boat for us and our 4 year old son. Hubby took a quick lesson and we were on our way. It was AWESOME!!! We sailed out to an island where we snorkled and swam. We saw several horseshoe crabs and tons beautiful shells. The wind wasn’t always what we needed but we still had a great time.

My brother and his wife bought kayaks for each other one year, so when the family went out to visit we all decided that a kayaking expedition was in order.
We ended up here — my brother has used this company before, and knew that they’d give great rates and are a tiny bit flexible on rental times. We rented some kayaks for 4 hours, plenty of time to paddle across the bay and explore some kayak trails in Caladesi State park. The staff set our ‘yaks down at the water’s edge, told us to grab life jackets and paddles, and that was the end of it.
I taught kayaking for 5 years and was fully expecting some sort of lesson, but nope. they offered no info at all. they didn’t even point out the area we were aiming for (2 miles across the bay) so if we didn’t have my brother as a guide, we could have ended up anywhere, trying to find the state park. i suspect they would have if we asked, but no one asked. so, we sized our own life jackets and paddles and set out. There was only one size of paddle, and that drove me nuts. but, whatever. we had our boats and our trail and our picnic, and it was a wonderful day out on the water.
2 hours of kayak rental is $ 35, 4 hours is $ 50. being able to paddle wherever you’d like is priceless.

If you like sailing this is an interesting place to go. They rent and sell trimarans made by windrider. We rented the 17 footer on a Saturday when the wind was blowing at about 18 mph. WHAT A BLAST! While very easy to handle they can go very fast. There were some Hobie cats out at the same time, and they were only marginally faster, while the trimaran is virtually un-​capsizeable. One steers with the feet and handles the jib and main with the hands. Everything is very ergonomical, resulting in a stress-​free but wild ride. Two hours cost $ 70 (the smaller boats are cheaper, but have only a main sail). A great deal considering the $ 9k purchase price of the machines!
The staff is friendly and they provide you with PFDs and sealed bags for your valuables.
