The Dunedin Smokehouse

I’m going to be completely honest. I only came to this restaurant because I had a coupon for a free drink but it my goodness was I pleased! I had a Dunedin Lemonade and a pickle back. Fun and great drinks. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese and the funnel cake fries. So delicious. The mac and cheese is high quality with a delicious salsa on it. The funnel cake fries are super sweet and served with a light cream cheese/​whip cream.
Great staff. They got our drinks and food to us quickly and worked hard to find out which channel our soccer game was on so we could watch it. Can’t wait to come back for a full meal!

Great place downtown with a large outdoor space. The food is great and the drinks cheap.
The cool thing is that the patio is dog-​friendly. Of course my dog is too hyper for such an outing!
The service is quick and always friendly.

Trendy place nice atmosphere great location. The bbq was ok had some pulled chicken sandwich I thought the serving of chicken was small. Friend had the brisket and it was a little dry. Nothing like 4 rivers. This seems more like nice place to drink and maybe get a appetizer. The location is what this place is all about Downtown Duniden

Had mac and cheese bites. Pretty good nice and crunchy outside and cheesey center. Brisket sandwich for lunch. Came with red onions and horseradish sauce. Also good. Comparable prices to most bbq places.

Dunedin smokehouse usually amazes me. With all the places to go in downtown Dunedin, this place was once my go to for having a great time and good fun. This time everything was mediocre at best.
We walked in to be seated in front of the band. It wasn’t too loud so that wasn’t an issue. When our server came over she wasn’t happy but she wasn’t mean either. She was «ehhh» and «so so» in regards to her service. I ordered the Jai Lai in a can and it wasn’t cold but it wasn’t warm either. It was ehhhh or so so. I ordered the bake potato soup and I was surprised that it was extremely good. I ordered the Smokehouse burger with Gouda Mac and cheese for my side. My daughter ordered the kids Mac and cheese. Usually on the smokehouse burger the cheese is melted and bursting with different flavors. Not this time. It wasn’t hot but wasn’t cold either. It was ehhh and so so. The Mac and cheese my daughter had looked like it came out of a bag and was very dry. We wrapped our dinner experience up with no dessert when we usually have dessert. So our visit was ehhhhh. The experience overall was so so. On a positive note the manager did ask us how things were and smiled and seemed like he wanted to be there.

Love this place! Friendly bartender and great food always! Their Mac n Cheese is the best in town.
After the beach day this is one of my favorite place to hang out!

Staff can be dismissive and we’ve left twice after being ignored. Food is OK and we can bring our dogs. Really the only reason we go and not often.
Place is full of screaming kids on weekend mornings fyi.

We had a great evening celebrating Dom’s promotion. We arrived just as the band (No Need) was finishing setup. They were alternative with a little funk and they were amazing. They made the evening. The food is really great here folks. I had their signature sandwich. It’s made with corned beef and it was to die for. The brisket nachos were great too. We will most definitely be e back.

Heard about this place from the host of our stay in Clearwater. I just ordered their fried chicken wings… sooo crispy and well done. Love that some burned parts left on the wings.

Fun restaurant, good food. My friend had the Brussels sprouts that was her meal, she enjoyed them. I had the pulled pork sandwich was so tasty. Friends ordered the nachos huge plate and a lot of chicken.
We went on a windy day, my only gripe was the patio could be cleaner. A lot of papers flying around but again very windy.

Not bad but definitely not great either. I had a brisket sandwich with their well reviewed mac n cheese. Neither were over-​the-​top remarkable but they were good. The mac & cheese seems to be a specialty but definitely better. The brisket was just average. The sauces on the table really good. Service was kind of spotty. Cool little town though & the outdoor seating was nice.

Food was great, service was fast but very impersonal.
We arrived around 11:30 on Saturday and the sign out front said seat yourself, so we walked inside and sat ourselves and I noticed some of the servers looking at us like we just barged in. I saw that the hostess changed the sign to wait to be seated right after we got there, so maybe the server thought we ignored that. I kinda got that vibe because we received no small talk, recommendations on the menu, or barely eye contact from our server who seemed to be annoyed by me and my wife. Another table got seated next to us and the same server was all smiles, offering recommendations and talking beers… so not sure why the differential treatment.
Besides that unusual experience, the food was fantastic. We split the «tamale» with brisket. Although it wasn’t an actual tamale, it was insanely good. The brisket was tender, fatty and juicy. The barbecue sauces we put on it were both very good, too. I wanted to ask about them, but our server was never at our table long enough to get in a question.
I knew I wanted ribs, but I was torn between ordering a half rack for $ 19, which seems high, or the rib sandwich for $ 10. I went with the sandwich and I’m glad I did because it was exactly what I wanted. It’s not an actual sandwich made with rib meat, it’s a quarter rack of ribs sitting on top of a piece of cuban bread. It was plenty of food and at almost half the price of just a rib order.
The ribs were just how I like them: not over cooked to the point they just disintegrate, but smoked just enough so they still have a bite. Plus, the rub on them was great. The handcut fries were also very well done and tasted great with the barbecue sauces.
I would have liked the service to have been a little more friendly and welcoming, but the food and local beers on tap definitely made up for it. I’ll be back, but I may just sit at the bar next time. They do have a nice patio, but the tables are close together and they allow smoking, so if you don’t like to smell smoke while you eat, I suggest going inside.

Looking for a pet friendly place in Dunedin we settled on this place for Sunday lunch. When we walked in we wanted to sit outside as we had our dog with us. The hostess stand said «see hostess for seating» but there was no hostess in sight. We waited a bit, then my husband went inside and asked about seating. They told him to sit anywhere.
After finding a table outside a waitress brought some menus over and we looked over the selections. The waitress returned and we ordered our drinks. A bus boy brought a water bowl for our dog. The drinks arrived within moments and we continued to review the menu. After 10 minutes the waitress returned and asked us if we needed more time to look at the menu. We did not, we had been waiting for a little while already, so we placed our order.
My husband ordered their signature Montréal beef sandwich, I ordered the Boss Hog which was a burger with pulled pork, bacon, onion straws and cheese with two patties. Our daughter ordered the kids grilled cheese and we ordered their signature smokehouse chicken wings for an appetizer.
It took about 12 minutes for our chicken wings to arrive. I should have paid attention to the other Unilocaler who suggested you ask to have them cut the wings in half for easier eating. Their wings are served whole with the drum attached to the wing. Regardless the flavor was good they were not too spicy, they were warm but not exceptionally hot.
Then we waited for our main course. We waited and we waited and we waited some more. I noticed a couple at a table near ours, who had arrived after us, had already gotten their food. I finally took my daughter to use the restroom. As I walked inside, the waitress saw me and immediately said as we walked by «your foods almost ready». I said that’s fine we’re looking for the restroom. As we walked to the restroom we could see the kitchen. in the window waiting to go out was a bunch of food. You could see salads, burgers and sandwiches all lined up at the pass. No way was that just our food. Expeditors were going over everything but it didn’t look like the food was going anywhere fast. We used the ladies room, which was very clean and returned to our table noticing that there was still a bunch of food at the kitchen window.
While in the bathroom our food did arrive. The waitress came right over when we returned to the table and asked how was everything. Since my daughter and I just sat down I didn’t know but everything looked ok. My husband had been waiting for us to return before he began to eat (chivalry isn’t dead).
My daughter took a bite from her grilled cheese and immediately spit it out declaring the sandwich was yucky. I checked the grilled cheese, the bread was hard as a rock. When I pulled the bread apart I could see the cheese had been broiled and was darkly browned. The sandwich was made with what appeared to be American cheese but it had been toasted beyond recognition and it was cold. The grilled cheese was terrible.
I checked my burger which was cooked medium and layered with pulled pork, bacon, cheese, onion straws. The pork was moist, the burger patties were not. It was warm but not exceptionally hot either. Since we had been in the bathroom when the food was delivered, I can’t say that the food was not the right temperature when it was delivered.
It took awhile for the waitress to return and by then my daughter was disgusted with the food, not interested in anything else and just wanted to leave. The waitress was apologetic and took her sandwich off the bill.
None of the waitstaff refilled our drinks during the entire meal. The restaurant was busy, but not packed. The service was slow, we did not expect to wait so long for food. If you’re interested in sitting outside for a lazy Sunday of people watching, this is good place to do that. Just don’t come hungry and sip your beverage slowly.

4 Stars for the deliciousness and ambiance–
We tried this place in downtown Dunedin based on Unilocaler reviews and as usual — spot on! A great venue with a lot of inside and outside seating. Since we just wanted a light snack and try the place out, I ordered the dry rubbed wings. They were huge and delicious — perfect amount of seasoning. I probably could have eaten two dozen of those beauties. I also ordered a Smokehouse Lager for $ 3 — excellent! I think I could have stayed there all day with that wing and beer combination and I’ll be back to try their ribs. Some bullet points:
I like how they have the BBQ sauces on the table and plenty of napkins
The inside décor is perfect for the setting
We had decent service
There is a full liquor bar
Chalkboard inside displays all of their taps
Open kitchen
Friendly kitchen staff
Booths as well as tables

The wings and sliders are fantastic! I also enjoyed the fried green tomato salad. They have a good beer selection and fun love music. Perfect location In downtown to walk around Main St.

We ordered the 2 meats and 2 sides platter and it was plenty. We chose the brisket and blackened tilapia (i think tilapia?) with potato salad and fries. It was out quickly and it all tasted very great. The brisket looked dry but it wasn’t at all. The 2 sauces on the table went well together with the food. Overall, a solid bbq place. Patio is dog friendly too, I like that.

Super first impression! Thanks to our waitress coming by asap with drinks, as well as someone checking on my dog Mocha Coconut to make sure he had a bowl of water. Us going to The Living Room first was a joke. This place will take care of you, and the manager will come around making sure all is well.
The Montréal Burger was calling my name. It was corned beef, slaw on a pretzel roll. Pretzel rolls make everything so good. Next time, make sure to ask for that on anything. My hubby’s pork belly burger with burger patty, pork belly, & breaded Mac and cheese burger was amazing. Ask for it on the pretzel roll. It will knock your socks off. Mac and cheese Yep! Get it! I read it in the reviews and tips. People aren’t lying!
We will be back here! How did it take so long to come here?!
*One thing though, I didn’t love the two non-​spicy BBQ selections. My food was still great so 4 stars !

So… I’ve been living in Dunedin for six and a half years. I’ve waffled back and forth on the BBQ. I’m here to tell you, «I see the light!»
I came down today to listen to a family friend play here. After a while, the subliminal scent captures you and you have to indulge!
My visit bonus today was conversing with the Pitmaster himself! We talked about area restaurants, markets, and the scent of burning hickory! When I asked him for a recommendation, he said, «Montréal Beef!» Instantly, I reacted! «My fave!» I got the sliders and it was just enough for me.
I also need to mention the «Killer Fry Melt!» Simply put, Nachos with a sweet potato waffle fry base and a whole lot more! One more thing, for now! Everything from the dressings to the entrée is made to order! And THAT gets my 5 Stars! I eat healthy and I can eat at Dunedin Smokehouse!
Lastly, the bartenders, servers, and the entire staff rock Dunedin as the best. I’ve always had great times here! Come on down!

Build your burger Wednesday — is a must!
You know it’s good BBQ when the smell hits you in the nose as soon as you open the door. One of the best BBQ sit down places ever!

If you’re going to drink beer, drink Dales Pale Ale. It’s a high percentage yummy local beer they carry.
The food is all delicious so I wouldn’t steer you away from anything! Average wait time, above average staff.
Bartenders remember your name and drink with ease. Enjoy music on most nights. Local bands and sound.
Masa cake is delicious. Buffalo chicken dip I would also recommend.
