Philly Flash offers fresh cheesesteaks, pizza, pasta, and a passion for racing to locals in Dunkirk, MD. We are family owned and run, and what motivates us is the love of serving people in our community through hospitality and love of food!

Our delicious cheesesteak is made from a recipe that has been perfected over the years, roasting and slicing our steak in-​house. We make our specialty «G-​Force» remoulade sauce and seasonings from scratch and use only the freshest ingredients. We also carry great cold drinks to pair with your meal. Need to feed a crowd? We also offer pick-​up, delivery, and catering options!

As a small local business, we’re proud to add to the history of our community with our love for grassroots drag racing displayed throughout our store and many events for car-​enthusiasts. We hope to welcome you under our roof soon!

History

Established in 2008.

The Procopio family (Mom’s side) and the DeCesaris family (Dad’s side) have had a long history with grassroots drag racing in Maryland. Our Uncle Alfonso opened Aquasco Speedway in southern Maryland in 1957. In 1963 our dad, Sonny, and uncles Abbie and Hugo Procopio opened northern Maryland’s Cecil County Dragoway. Two years later, both of the families got together to open Capitol Raceway in central Maryland. For many years all aunts, uncles and cousins were involved in every aspect of operations– from building the tracks to preparing the food sold at the refreshment stands. It’s no wonder we learned all about business, cooking and racing. Our family then opened Philly Flash in 2008 to bring all our favorite things under one roof in Maryland! We’ve been a staple in our community for over 5 years, so please enjoy our food, hospitality and a little slice of racing memorabilia at our shop soon!

Geaton inherited a love for good food and fast cars from his family, who opened the first Philly Flash shop in 2008. He loves serving Dunkirk natives hot, delicious cheesesteaks, pizza, wings, and more with quick service and a friendly smile at the beloved neighborhood landmark, and he looks forward to many good memories in the shop to come!

The décor is fantastic and thats where it ends, food was not good and made my friend and I sick, some one was smoking in the bathroom, an employee I believe, ruined our meal. The fries were burnt and cold. Shame maybe this could be a nice place, this was a Friday night about 5:30 not off peak. The kid behind the counter rushed us when we were looking at the menu like he had something better to do, there was no one else waiting. Glad I was just visiting the area won’t go back.

Fantastic food and service, especially when Amanda is working. :) tasty pizza and great sandwiches.
I recommend the veggie sub with cheese whiz, too!
The Mrs loves the Chicken Philly, and the Onion Rings are a great compliment to that particular sandwich.

Came back for another visit, service was much better and meals came out together. We had the Boss steak and cheese with boss fries. Our daughter had the Crispy Chicken dragster. Fries were hot and crispy, bread was fresh. We will be back when in the area.

I love this place!!! Best customer service and best cheesesteaks in the area. I frequent this place quite often and am always pleased. Once I asked to speak to a manager just to share the great review. It was closing time, so he wasn’t able to hear it from me directly! Staff is friendly, food is delicious, and love the atmosphere! Will be back very soon. :)

Service was lousy and the staff complained to me they were short handed in the Kiitchen.
Ordered 3 steak and cheese subs and waited 20 minutes and they only delivered one sub to our table the was told it would be another 15 minutes for the other two. The other two subs were delivered to our table and both were wrong. We sent them back and they proceeded to give us back the same two subs with the wrong cheese on the sub so they slopped on cheese wiz to cover it up. Other patrons were also complaining about the service also.
You figure there would be a manager on duty but there were only a couple of inexperienced young girls running the counter and they were blaming the bad service on the kitchen but
They had no clue what food went to what table. Food was good service real bad.

Well, we ordered 4 Philly cheesesteaks and waited and waited and waited. And then we decided to see what the hold up was as there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Then the person at the register said «oh, it will be another 15 mins because our machine broke» meanwhile they were still bringing orders out to tables. So then we ask to cancel the order and get our money back and the person gave us a huge attitude. Very annoying. You’re better off getting some frozen steak umms and frying it at home.

This place exceeded all expectations!!!
I have read a few reviews from here and they all looked pretty good and I wanted to come by but today I was waiting for my husband in the parking lot and looked up and noticed that Philly flash was right in my face so I decided to have a salad
upon arrival I was greeted by The nicest young man who was ready to help me as soon as I walked in the door
he gave me the brightest smile seem to make me happy as well me and my husband ordered our food and we use a
gift certificate to help with the bill and that was an added treat I wasn’t even aware of initially my husband got the steak and cheese called the boss and I got the grilled chicken salad it was amazing so fresh so delicious we will definitely be regulars now and I’m very happy I ran into this place

Overall we were happy with our experience at this establishment. There aren’t a ton of options for dining out in Dunkirk and you can only have pizza so many times, so the option of a nice cheesesteak sub was very welcome.
The sandwiches are huge, so you definitely feel that you are getting your monies worth.
My only complaint was the service the second time we ordered from here. The counter staff was indifferent and seemed put out that we were even there to pick up our food. Compared to the service we received the first time it was a bummer.
Will that deter us from going back? Probably not. The food was worth it.

While I’m thinking about it (as I just reviewed a business that is pretty much right across the street from this one), I’m back to update things a bit here and add some comments while unfortunately taking away a star from my original review for these folks.
Why take away the star? A couple of reasons. Much like the competitor that I wrote about moments ago, this business has a bit of a problem with consistency. One time I visit the fries are nice and tasty, and surprisingly crisp. The next time they are tasty, but more soggy and a little bit more limp. Another time the fries are neither and just aren’t as tasty at all.
More important than the fries (though if the fries were more consistent I’d be much more interested in returning repeatedly) was the taste of the pizza that I dared to try on a visit after having written my original review for this place. That was something that I really wish I hadn’t done as the pizza was not good at all. The crust was reminiscent of the kind of stuff you’d get in a make yourself pizza kit sold in schools or for charities, and even then not close to something you’d wish to eat. While I didn’t necessary expect the pizza to be freshly made, I didn’t expect it to be something that would make me think that cafeteria pizza in public school was a preferable choice.
I took my spouse and her youngest child along to try food during one trip here (when I got the pizza) and they too found the offerings less then they had hoped for.
The service has been fine when I’ve visited, but the food quality, especially the pizza, needs improvement. The steak and cheese subs that I’ve had here have been OK, and sometimes that fries are really good. Other times, as noted above, not nearly as good. Get the consistency level up and do something about the pizza (the crust would be a great place to start) and you might be able to get my business on a regular basis.

In the dozens of times that we have gone, we have never been disappointed by the service or the food. My only complaint is the amount of meat – needs a tad more meat on their cheesesteaks. Other than that, delicious. The fries come out ready for old bay and when you say «light mayo,» you get light mayo – still there, but just a hint.
I’ve never had a bad experience with the service – the people who work there are friendly and very in tune to what the customers need.

The first time we came here, we felt that the cheesesteak wasn’t much to talk about. We recently went back and tried the pizza roll, chicken tenders and a cheesesteak and thought everything was pretty tasty. Now, for Dunkirk, this place is pretty dang good. There is not much to choose from out there, so for that reason I should give Philly Flash one more star. When we are in the area and want a sub, this is one of our top picks.

Overall Philly Flash is a great improvement over other stand alone family joints I’ve tried over the years. This location is more like a restaurant, similar to Quaker Steak and Lube in Pennsylvania but still has a order counter and a menu geared towards sub sandwiches.
I tried a handful of options here and can say the best sub I had was their premium sausage sub with marinara and mozzarella cheese. There is a lot of flavor with such a basic sub, plus it’s not too greasy or sloppily prepared. The sub came with fresh hand cut peanut oil fried fries which complement their subs well. The only gripe I had with the sub was a lack of crunch, but I suppose you could add the fries for that :-).
A basic chicken tender basket with fries was priced around $ 6.5 and was enough to serve a whole family — great value.
Service was fast, though when I asked for a larger cup for ice water my request was ignored. After repeating it twice to the cashier it seemed like I offended some unwritten rule about a larger water cup…
Anyways, this is a great sub shop to either stop in for a quick bite or even have a few brews (or, a cup of wine) and catch the game — 3 stars.
