Specialties
Perfect for Shasta skiers, fishers and Siskiyou County explorers, the Haus is nicely appointed and you won’t need to bring much to feel at home.
When possible, we offer checkouts as late as 5 PM, so you can ski or fish all day, then checkout.
Because we’re just a few minutes off I-5, we also have special rates for overnighters who just want a bed and morning coffee.
History
Established in 2012.
We bought the haus after having a ball skiing Shasta in 2011. We live on the Trinity River a few hours away and that made for a long commute. Since we own vacation river cabins and cater to fishers, we thought a place in Dunsmuir would be a natural addition, making it a good skiing and fishing base camp. Even being right in town, the haus is just a 5 minute walk to the upper Sacramento river for fishing.
Meet the Business Owner
Steph and Heidi D.
Business Owner
Steph and Heidi are both Coast Guard licensed vessel masters. They created Sanctuary Cruises on the Monterey Bay (www.sanctuarycruises.com) and are well-known for their whale conservation efforts. Steph is the only person to kayak from Canada to Mexico (BC to BC/93). Heidi was featured in a National Geographic documentary which recreated their Mother’s day 2004 cruise, one of many times that spring when orcas attacked the baby gray whales and mothers as they crossed the Monterey Bay. Their affinity for the Trinity River area led to forming Trinity River Adventure Inn and their love of skiing led to Alpine Fish & Ski Haus in Dunsmuir.
