Dynamik Duo

I love this company and they have the BEST cookies in town PERIOD. The only thing keeping me from putting a 5 instead of a 4 is the fact that 80% of the time when I stop by during operating hours they are closed :(
I highly recommend supporting them so we can keep this awesome company around.

I would give zero stars if I was able to, since that is the level of service that I received from the team at Dynamik Duo Desserts. I placed a custom cake order weeks in advance and was met with continuos «Yes’s» and «That won’t be a problem» to the design that I wanted. Come to find, as they are decorating my cake the day of delivery they followed NONE of the direction that had been provided to them. They did not even use the picture I sent as a reference! I Voiced my unhappiness with how the cake turned out and Amy said she would fix it. Only her attempt at fixing the design on the cake was sloppy, disproportionate, and looked horribly rushed. I was unhappy, to say to least, to be paying over $ 100 for a cake and to not have it look ANYTHING CLOSE to what we had agreed upon. I have zero skill when it comes to anything artistic and I honestly believe I could have done a better job.
Again, this is happening THE DAY OF the cake delivery. We attempted to go with a different design all together since it was last minute, and we NEEDED a cake to celebrate a very special birthday that someone was spending away from home. At 4:15 pm (Delivery was scheduled for 5:00pm) Amy notified me there was nothing she could do and that she could no longer help me. I offered to extend the delivery time to allow extra work time, she declined and stopped answering my calls.
At 4:15pm I was left with NO CAKE to be delivered to someone for a very special birthday they were spending away from home. We had been in discussion regarding this cake and its design since 6/​2, for a 5:00pm delivery on ⁶⁄₁₈. and at 4:15 pm on ⁶⁄₁₈ Amy told me there was just nothing she could do, and then disappeared.
My calls were continuously ignored, even into the next day. They only answered after I called from a Different number!
I’m sorry but this is NO WAY to conduct a business. Take your business elsewhere to a company that cares about their customers.

Not only fantastic cupcakes but really great people running the place. This is around the corner from my office and I stumbled upon them when they had recently opened. As a sucker for cupcakes I had to give them a try. The women who own the place are always so happy to see you and want to genuinely know how your day is no matter if you are a regular or if you have just walked in for the first time. You can just tell their food is baked with love.
The company I work for runs a summer camp and they hosted our campers, during a time they would normally be closed, so that our campers could learn about decorating cupcakes.
I always tell people if they are looking for a great sweet fix that will leave you feeling good go see the folks and Dynamik Duo!
Only negative I can think of is they are too close to my office. :-)

The cutest elephant Baby shower cake! I ordered two flavors. The front was almond cake with raspberry filling and chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream filling for the body. The trunk and legs were rice crispy treats and they were delicious, too!

I purchased a Groupon or Livingsocial deal for this place and was eager to try it out. I placed my order a week or two in advance but when I got there I had to wait a while for my order to be brought out. But who cares??? The owners are super sweet and down to earth and the cupcakes… DIVINE! I told my sister about them and she picked some up the next time she was in town. One flavor she picked up was Orange Cream-​Sickle and I thought there was no way I would try that flavor. Alas, I tried it and it was AMAZING!!! I live at least 45 mins, from their location but next time I’m in Durham I’ll be stopping in for cupcakes!

We had the need for a last-​minute birthday cake with only an hour to go. Dynamik Duo came through under pressure with flying colors. They customized the white cake with gorgeous detailed lavender calligraphy and elaborate rosettes on the corners. Both icing and cake were met with rave reviews. Fantastic customer service too!

I saw a livingsocial deal for this place, which is how I found out about it. I checked out their website before purchasing, and I have to be honest, it was a terrible website. That made me skeptical, but I reeeeally love cupcakes and I believe in not judging until after I try the product (because they’re not web designers, they’re bakers). I went to the shop before ordering, again to check things out, and I was disappointed that they had like 3 cupcakes in the display case. The décor was also a bit crazy and homemade… no place to actually sit and have anything there. But again, I still hadn’t tried a cupcake. One of the owners came from the back & explained that everything is made to order, hence the lack of stock. I called and ordered the dozen to redeem my deal a couple weeks later to share with some work friends. I got 6 chocolate, 2 vanilla, 2 signature red velvet & 2 signature butter pecan. I also was pleased to discover they had some gluten free cupcakes available in the back, so I bought one separately for a GF friend who I didn’t want to feel left out. EVERYTHING WAS SUPER DELICIOUS, Y’ALL! My work friends LOVED all the flavors, the cake was SUPER moist and the frosting was rich & creamy without being too sugary or gloopy. I scoped out the GF cupcake and I could tell the texture was a bit different, so I knew it was legit. My pal said it was really good.
So moral of the Unilocal review: don’t judge a cupcake buy it’s paper! Definitely get some goodies from these «dynamik» ladies :)
