I wanted to respond to your review of our school. I have asked the staff and gone through our paperwork looking for your information. Are you sure it was for North Carolina? Your profile shows you are from Kansas could you be reviewing a different school? If you were conducting an observation/​quality review what organization are you with? We are a five star school and I wanted to address your areas of concern. We do not do a «53» minute circle time. Anyone in the industry, or a parent, knows no 2 ²⁄₁₂ year old will sit for 53 minutes. Our circle times are fun, interactive and engaging. If a child decides they do not want to participate in our circle time they are moving around our classroom. We encourage learning through free play and our children are allowed to have free play all day. The teachers at our school are educated in early childhood education and are trained by Kids ‘R’ Kids. We are a «Hugged First, Then Taught» school. We promote our parents observing our classrooms and have quality and educational reviews by our corporate office and the state. If you were in a classroom for three hours a member of management would have been with you. We conduct playground safety checks daily and if metal was exposed or at ground level we would have corrected the situation before any child would be allowed on the playground. I contacted our maintenance person and he confirmed no metal piping, roofing or gutters are on any of our playgrounds. We participate in the Food Program, and our children are required to receive a certain amount of food for breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Not only do we meet this, we allow our children to have as much food as they want. We serve fresh fruits only and our chefs make delicious meals each day. I am a fellow parent with a 13yo and a 7yo. I personally witnessed a field trip that this center was taking with their school age children, and, well… very unimpressive! I do not, nor have I ever had either one of my children at a Kids R Kids facility. I have *toured one and the tour was impressive a few years ago. But what is happening after the tour, off camera disgusted me. The one chaperone who had approximately 10 – 12 children in her care of very great age differences was letting the facility they were at babysit the children while she sat in the ‘parent’ area and tended to her cell phone. One of the children got injured on the equipment, and she had no idea until the other children came running up to tell her. I personally feel like it is too much to only have one chaperone, who is also driving the bus, with this many children. And to see a paid employee not supervising or interacting with the children in her care is disheartening. If I did have my child at this facility, I would want a heads up. I wouldn’t want someone who witnessed this to just keep quiet. Because I may never know otherwise! When a facility says, just drop by, DO IT!!! Even in a field trip… surprise them, and stay involved!

I imagine that the best person to operate a summer/​track-​out camp camp would be a parent themselves. I mean only another parent truly understands how stressful it is to put your kids in someone else’s care. Kids r kids RTP is the only place that I’d leave my kids, other than with my parents– and it is indeed owned and run by a mother.
Before I knew how great they were, I used their video monitoring system. There are cameras all over the school so you can see what your child is up to and how they were treated during the day. It made me feel really comfortable with the whole setup and that they were proud of their school. In addition they encourage you to drop by in person if it makes you feel better. I have to tell you that this was not the case at OTHER places that I looked at.
The classes (it is actually a school) are all about fun while exposing kids to new experiences. They take day trips several times a week so that the children don’t get bored. There’s a sprinkler park onsite that the kids get to go to once a week. Nap/​quiet time in the afternoon let’s kids relax an unwind. Kids always have a choice of what they want to do– and I think this builds a sense of identity.
If you need to leave your kids somewhere during track out or summer vacation, I suggest that you check this place out.
