Food is pretty good(chicken sandwich, chicken vindaloo, tacos especially) and the best thing about Pitchforks is that it is open 24 – 7. Downsides are that the food is pricy(lot of $ 10 — $ 12 options) and its sometimes a bit greasy.

If you’re not a student this wouldn’t be worth the trip but as a student on a food plan this would be one of the better options. It’s menu is more on the expensive end for on campus food but it’s worth it if you’re looking for something different than your usual. It’s nice they have a variety– from salads, to burgers, to udon, to wings, to spaghetti, to a crab cake sandwich. If you’re craving seafood, this is one of the only places to get it on campus. It’s not the best but it does the job. I also like that they have a variety of bottled drinks instead of just offering straight from the fountain. One of the best features is that it’s open 24 hours during the school year. Popular late night foods include the Reuben, the grilled cheese, and tater tots. The Reuben and tater tots are great. Staff is super friendly but the wait can be long especially when it’s late at night and everyone decides they want Pitchforks.

I live about 2 minutes away from Pitchfork’s(I’ve heard it called by its actual name«Pitchfork Provisions» about 3 times in the last two years), so it’s no surprise that I eat there often. «Often» as in pretty much everyday for breakfast and every other day for dinner. It’s a pretty popular location on campus, especially around dinner time. The place is open 24⁄7 and late-night Pitchfork’s are a thing, especially on Saturday nights around 2AM. The food is on the salty and oily side. But hey, it’s college. The cashiers are always friendly, though. Pitchfork’s has a good variety of dishes and they even have a decent vegetarian selection. Even though I love meat, I gotta admit that the veggie burgers here are pretty good and I get them occasionally for lunch. Typical breakfast: Spanish omelette with tots and toast. Feeling hungry after a morning workout? Get a full stack of chocolate chip pancakes, too. Yes, I deeply enjoy food. Typical dinner: Spaghetti and meatballs.

3.5 star rating. Food at Pitchforks tends to be of the unhealthy variety: large portions for a higher price, lots of oil/meat and what have you. When you walk in, you wait in a line to order and when your food is ready they call your name; in the loud restaurant sometimes it is hard to hear so you have to keep your ears peeled. It is one of the only restaurants on Duke’s campus open 24 – 7 and tends to be especially crowded around the dinner and weekend brunch rushes. In terms of food, my personal favorites here are the pancakes: warm, soft, with chocolate chips, it’s a guilty pleasure for sure. I used to be a fan of the salmon hotpot($ 18? too much) but the quality of the noodles and soup was unsatisfying and I ended up eating only the salmon. Other popular dishes tend to revolve around their pancakes, sandwiches and dinner options. I’ve tried the veggie omelets(nothing special) and the grilled cheese sandwich(disappointing) so would not recommend those. Pitchforks also serves alcohol and has two tv screens that usually broadcast sports games.

I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with grilled tomato and for my side, I got the mozzarella caprese salad. So delicious! The grilled cheese was stuffed with cheese and they didn’t skimp on the tomato. They are slightly overpriced, but they’re open 24 hours so that’s a major plus. Its too bad that they’re not open over the summer.

What I wrote about the place a few months ago still stands(except they managed to get rid of the freshly ground pepper, unfortunately). Just want to add they now have a good selection of beer, in addition to two types of wine(Duke students can pay with food points).

As an off-campus student without food points, I would give Pitchfork Provisions a 3. But I remember what it was like to have a lot of food points — and this would be an AWESOME place to spend them. It’s pricier, but the options are good — diverse, interesting choices from different kinds of cuisines, friendly service, and relative seclusion. It’s not too crowded because of the location, so it’s a good place to have a conversation with a friend. I’ve had the shrimp & andouille, which I don’t think is really worth $ 14.99, and the Reuben sandwich(I got a pasta side with it), which was definitely worth the $ 8.99. I wouldn’t say it’s hit or miss — those are the only things I’ve tried, and there are plenty of really savory-looking vegetarian options that even I was tempted by. They also sell MASH soda, which is pretty popular.
