Upchuch Optical is committed to excellence by providing the latest fashions from around the world in a home town way. We are famous for our funk. We feature hand painted titanium frames from Belgium, Germany, and Italy. We naturally carry more well known brands such as Armani, Gucci, Polo, Prada, Versace, and Cazal. We also offer Prodesign, Etnia, Menizzi, Anglo American, Biggu, YabiSpirit, and Silhouette. We invite you to come and experience the fun of trying on eyeglass frames in the most entertaining optical shop in existance. We are staffed by some of the best people in the business. Mike Upchurch has been in this location for 29 years. He has been the cornerstone of the operation and has clientele from all over the world. Lynne Ferrell, a licensed optician since 1992, has added her expertise to the community and has quite a following. Matthew Libby, also a licensed optician, joined the staff four years ago and brings his own sense of flair to the team.

History

Established in 1982.

Upchurch Optical has served the triangle since November of 1982. It has become a part of the local community and one of the most well established glasses store in the area. Upchurch Optical caters to every sort of interest and style imaginable. We are known to carry all types of frames, including some of the most eclectic frames available. Recently, they have opened a second location in South Durham in the Sutton Station shopping center (919)405−2888. This second location features a similar selection in a more convenient location for those located in South Durham. Upchurch Optical has won the Independent Weekly Best in of the Triangle award in 2011 and The Herald Sun’s Reader’s Choice award beginning in 2009 and every year since.

Mike Upchurch was born and raised in Durham, so he knows what it means to be a local business and a part of the community. Mike has been the foundation that the business was initially built on and has gone on to provide eyewear for cliental from all over the world. He continues to work constantly to provide the best experience for you when purchasing your next pair of glasses.
