Wild 3L Ranch

What an amazing time! This is exactly what my boyfriend and I were looking for! We will absolutely be returning soon, next time well will have to bring friends to join in this wonderful experience!

Absolutely amazing! Lisa and Mark were so nice, knowledable and professional. They made sure everyone’s safety came first but also made sure everyone had an awesome time. Lisa was our trail guide and she was very friendly, funnny, easy to talk to, and relatable. Mark helped us get started and told us the basics (even though we were all experienced) and the rules. Lisa made sure we were comfortable throughout the ride and most importantly safe. The trails had a variety of terrain, not just flat ground. I would suggest using Wild 3L Ranch for any and all trail rides you plan to go on. They made it the best experience for everyone.

From the moment we spoke with Lisa on the phone and checked out Wild 3L Ranch’s Facebook page, we knew that we were picking the best place in the Lake Geneva area. We had done the 5 pm ride which ended in complete darkness, but being from Chicago, the darkness and silence was exactly what was needed and wanted on a weekend away. Lisa was an amazingly friendly and outgoing guide. She kept us entertained with stories and just her overall interaction was what what made the entire experience phenomenal. There are few guided trails and horseback riding places that know how to maintain what the purpose of choosing this adventure is all about. Even if you can’t get the time you originally want and have to change your plans, it is well worth rearranging your schedule to make it work with whatever ride you can get out on. Wild 3L Ranch is great and will exceed your expectations.

I guess this is our 3^rd time back — better than ever! Lisa ensures everyone is comfortable, safe and having a great experience. The horses are beautiful and Kettle Moraine is the perfect place to ride.

I absolutely loved this place! We went on a trail ride with Mark. Mark didn’t leave my side until I felt comfortable. The trail is so beautiful and I am definitely sure that he will makes you comfortable and have fun! With him, we learnt many things, he will teach you how to ride a horse in a right way, such as sitting properly, detailed instruction, techniques, even the language we use to horses. I had been in many other ranches, but this is the most amazing place I ever had. I thought I know horses very well, but still, I am more knowledged! We will definitely going to have a ride again when we get Wisconsin ;) Thank you Mark !!

Just finished a 2 hour ride with our family of 5 plus my wife’s sister. Everyone loved it. Our kids, ages 20, 18 and 12 had minimal prior experience and my wife none. Lisa, the owner, met us at the trail head with her seven horses. Lisa immediately put everyone at ease as she paired us each up with the horse we would ride and helped us mount. Over the next two hours she chatted with all of us and traded jokes with our 12 year old. The horses were excellent as well, following Lisa along trails, through a few simple obstacles, and up to trotting and cantering. It was a wonderful experience for all.

Two weekends ago on ⁷⁄₁₈ my girlfriend and I went on the half day ride. It has taken me so long to write a review because its hard for me to put into words what an amazingly hilarious and awesome time I had. I literally cried tears of sadness when I found out that the ranch Lisa previously worked for had closed down. I can honestly say I pretty much cried tears of JOY when I found out that Lisa had opened up her own ranch. You literally can not find anything around the Chicago land area that gives you an experience quite like this one.
I have done both the full day and the half day ride with Lisa. No other ranch comes close to what Lisa and Mark have to offer. Its not just your run of the mill trail ride where everyone is forced to wear helmets and the most you do is walk your horse. This is the full package! Lisa is extremely knowledgeable, as well as Mark, and they are both more than willing to help you improve on your horsemanship.
On the half day trip, as well as the full day, you can expect it all… walking, trotting, cantering, and even a little galloping. (Keep in mind this is all within your comfort zone. If you would only feel comfortable walking with your horse that’s all that you’ll do. You’re not forced to do things on the horse you’re not comfortable with.) Be sure to make reservations! They are a must. If you’re lucky, you and your partner or your group for that matter will have your own guided tour with Lisa and Mark. Also, if you’re wearing your fitbit I can guarantee that it will «BUZZ» about halfway through your ride and that Mark really gets a kick out of it when you wave your hand in the air screaming «I’m buzzing!» which only means that you hit your daily goal :) Ok back to the ride…
I couldn’t have asked for a better trail ride through the scenic Kettle Moraine State Park in Eagle WI. Lisa takes you through the state park into a quaint little town. Here at your halfway point you stop for a bite to eat at a local pub which has awesome bar food! I HIGHLY recommend going on the weekend so that Mark will join along with Lisa as he provides an insane amount of comic relief. — I cannot stress that statement enough. Weekly rides are offered as well. I made some amazing memories that I will never forget… especially getting stuck in a tornado warning and having to canter the horses back to trailer! Also can’t forget hiding out in an outhouse with 4 other people as the storm passed!
Lisa has an amazing thing going at Wild 3L Ranch. I hope the ranch is around for many years to come… Mark too. I will definitely be back to do another ride in the fall. I hope to make it out there multiple times a year.

This weekend we attended the Weekend Adventure at Wild 3L Ranch. There were 6 guests total, including myself, my husband, my sister and her boyfriend. We were joined by an outgoing, charming 11 year old boy Chris and his grandma. I couldn’t have asked for a more spectacular weekend!
As previous posters mentioned Lisa is an amazing guide. The horses are her «babies» and you can tell how well they are loved and treated. Each of us was matched up with the perfect horse for our experience level and size. At first I was a bit worried that we would be slowed down. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Lisa mentioned that we might be splitting off depending on experience but that ended up not being the case and we all walked, trotted and cantered to the max on our weekend.
Mark was also a terrific host and guide. The campstove breakfasts he made rivaled that of any restaurant. (Ask him for his recipe for crepes). Mark is very likable and his off beat sense of humor was the bomb. He definitely livened up the weekend.
The scenery is stunningly beautiful and peaceful and Lisa knows the trails like the back of her hand. We went through some manmade obstacles and went on a scavenger hunt which was a lot of fun. (The giraffe is still M.I.A. so look for it on your trail ride.) Cows weren’t available so we rounded up Mark, which actually was probably more fun than chasing around real cows.
I usually don’t write reviews but just had to in this case. I highly recommend the Wild 3L Ranch. It doesn’t compare to any other trail ride that I’ve been on (including riding in Colorado). Lisa and Mark made the whole trip memorable. The weekend improved my riding skills and we are already planning our second visit. Thank you Lisa and Mark!

My wife and I just finished a 2-​hour trail ride with Lisa. The ride was tons of fun. Lisa provides the perfect balance of coaching/​teaching but also encouraging the rider to have their own experience. Cantering was a thrill and Lisa coached us through it so we felt comfortable. The trail is really beautiful and fun to explore on the horse. We will definitely come back and highly recommend this experience!

This ranch is ideal for trail rides because it is central to the Kettle Moraine area and it is adjacent to the Southern Kettle Moraine State Park so no trailering or riding along roads (with one exception — more on that later).

Lisa Lisowe and her partner Mark operate the ranch just north of Elkhorn WI with 10 trail horses, and a few of Lisa’a own plus a few that are being trained or boarded. It is a small operation with no set hours which is convenient. Reservations are a must. The horses are all well-​disciplined neck-​reining Western who are all forward and responsive. Note: There is no sign along County Road NN but you will see the pastures and the gate just after turning right from Palmyra Rd which intersects with Rte 67 off Rte 12.
I rode with a small group on a paint named Sadie. I wanted a half-​day ride so I joined a two-​hour ride with a couple and another solo rider — trot and walk — we returned. Lisa trailered my horse and hers to a parking site outside of Eagle for me to continue with another two-​hour ride including a stop over at a bra & grill. We rode and cantered until we met the highway. There is soft bridle path off the highway for horses that offers some protection and the locals are accustomed to riders, day and night. There is a stretch along a highway, crossing a road then railroad tracks. We rode to a set of corrals in the center of town that were built by Suhmer’s Saloon. We had an early dinner then returned as the sun was setting. It was sundown by the time we met the roadway and with a new moon it was quite dark with only stars above and the sound of our horses in the woods. I had never ridden at night and Lisa made sure I was comfortable cantering, but it was thrilling. I realized that you focus so much more at night on getting into the rhythm and connecting with your horse.
The pricing is competitive, Lisa and Mark are great horse people and the trails are ideal.
Being from Chicago where a livery is hard to find, this is perfect for a quick getaway. I look forward to riding there regularly come Spring.

Went for a 2 hour trail ride with Lisa and Mark this afternoon — Fantastic! The horses were all extremely well behaved and responsive, and Lisa ensured that every rider was comfortable on their horse regardless of experience. The trails were absolutely beautiful. They wind around the Kettle Moraine State Forest, and with the leaves all in color, it was a beautiful scenery. They apparently also do ½ day rides and winter rides, which we are certainly going to be coming back for. Thanks for a great trip! Highly recommended!

Went here for my first time we went straight to the trails! It is seriously 1 min away from her location. Trouting walking up and down hill. I will go back with my nieces when I can.

Went on a 1.5 hour horse ride with Lisa this past weekend. It our first time riding and it was a great experience! We traveled on a horse trail and got to experience nature and horse riding. Lisa makes sure we’re comfortable at riding and teaches us the basics for maneuvering our horse. I would definitely come here again when I wanna ride!

Just went on a two hour ride with Mark and Lisa. Had an amazing time! Horses are very well taken care of. Mark and Lisa are super friendly. Will definitely be back:-) A+++

Amazing trails, sweet horses and a professional guide. Wild 3L Ranch is the best place to ride; hands down! The owner and guide, personalizes the ride to your comfort and experience level so there is something for everyone. She will work with novice riders to ensure everyone is having a great time. Not your typical nose to butt trail ride; this is the real deal for those of us that love to ride but can’t own our own horse. Miles of trails in the Southern Kettle Moraine State Park that you never grow bored of. It truly is a new experience every ride. I’ve done the hour & half, two hr., half day, all day and even a full moon ride and will keep coming back for more.
