Dancin on the Moon

I’ve taken ballet lessons for many years as a kid/​teen, and will soon be starting again after almost a decade. I no longer have my old ballet shoes, and at first tried buying a new pair on Amazon. Even after reading the reviews and getting what I thought was the right size, I ended up returning them almost immediately after trying them on, since they were too big. Not wanting to waste any more time, I decided to go to Dancin on the Moon, a store I’ve known about for many years but never ventured into, since I’ve always purchased my dancewear from the studio (and more recently, online).
I was greeted by two girls who appeared to be teenagers. A lot of people associate teenagers with novice customer service, but they were quite helpful and knowledgeable. They asked me what my street shoe size is, if there was a specific type of shoe I was looking for (brand, material), and even my dance studio. After trying on three pairs of the Capezio Juliet II 2027 leather split-​sole ballet slippers, I found my proper size. For reference, I wear anywhere between an 8 and 9 in street shoes, wearing either a Medium or Wide. The 8 M was too small, the 9 M was too big, but the 8.5 W was just right.
The price I paid for them was quite reasonable. Yes, there are places online that will sell them for less, but dance shoes can have strange sizing, so I would highly recommend saving the hassle of buying multiple pairs of shoes online and having to return all but one. After all, I had to try on a few pairs to find my right size! There’s also the added bonus of supporting a local business ^_​^ And of course, if you are getting pointe shoes, getting fitted is crucial, not just for function and comfort, but also your safety!
In addition to shoes, this store also sells a lot of leotards and tights. I noticed they had the brands Capezio, Bloch, and Body Wrappers. I wish they also sold Danskin, but nevertheless a good selection for women and girls. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area, especially those who are wary of buying online.

I love this store and have been shopping here for many years. They are always very knowledgeable about the products and happy to help find the right shoes. I also really like the variety of dancewear they sell and can’t wait to buy more for my daughter.

I walked in to make a quick purchase a new exactly what I wanted. The girls were too busy entertaining to even acknowledge whether I needed something. Horribly snobby and rude. I don’t purchase anything from small businesses like that.

Helpful but snooty. No smile, no thank you. I will not return.
