Nirvana Nails and Day Spa

I was recommended to try out this spa by my friends so I called and scheduled an appointment. I was pleasantly pleased by the staff. Everyone here is so friendly. They serve you complimentary nirvana water and lavender infused warm or cold neck wraps. It was very relaxing experience. The spa is very clean as well. Tahira did my pedicure and she has such a special touch with her massage. I would highly recommend this spa to everyone.

Went in just a while ago, for a regular manicure pedicure. From the moment I walked it was a vision. Great décor, staff was very friendly. Christie directed me to the nail polish center and I picked out a color. They offered me complimentary drinks (I declined) and a neck wrap (which I accepted). The other lady that did my manicure was very professional, did a great job. Great small talk!
The reason why I give it 3 stars is because $ 50 for a regular manicure and pedicure is ridiculous. I payed it. And sorry that I won’t be in again because honestly I could have went somewhere else got the same pleasant experience for $ 25-​$ 30.

It disappoints me to have to leave a bad review on this business but I’ve already given them a second chance when the first time my nails were messed up. I’ve been coming here for several months but now with a 2^nd bad experience, I won’t be coming back.
Nirvana has a relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff, which is what lured me in. The prices are higher than your average nail salon and I can only say my nails have come out mediocre out of all the times I’ve been here. Except the first time when Ruby did my nails, she did a phenomenal job which made me feel confident about making this my new nail place. This is the first nail salon I’ve been to that have SNS. It’ a relatively new powder system that most nail salons don’t carry. It has minerals in it to strengthen the nail unlike traditional powder. And also uses no UV and painful like gel is! I can tell a difference in the quality of my real nails after having this done for several months. The best time I had a full set of SNS was by Ruby, who no longer works at Nirvana. Mimi the owner is relatively good but I still noticed flaws after arriving home. And I often felt too bad driving back to complain, as she’s such a kind hearted lady. I also don’t like that on one occasion Mimi had Tahira prep my nails, before Mimi worked on mine, only for her to give me back to Tahira to finish them. Once Mimi realized Tahira wasn’t applying the final coat (which you think isn’t difficult), she took me back over to finish up. Very odd. Never seen that at a nail place before. After that little mishap, my first major bad experience was in December. Mimi did gel color over my SNS and I had Christine do my nail polish change (which by the way is 15 $, might as well have just paid 10 $ more for an hour long pedicure). Not only did a few of my nails have the gel color chip and crack after TWO days but I was not given any option to have my toe nails under a dryer given a toe spacer to separate each toe, and was sent out the door without them fully dry. Every other nail salon I’ve ever been to does the pedicure before the manicure OR puts you under a dryer to ensure you don’t walk out with wet toes. I emailed Mimi about this and the next time I came in she did my nails pretty nice and gave me a little bit of a discount off my services.
My most recent experience was with Tahira since Mimi was on vacation. I was reluctant to try someone new, especially after the first mishap. I think Mimi sensed my disappointment over the phone, and assured me that she is very good and will take care of me. And apparently I had a right to be worried because after she did my nails they are uneven on the tips and completely NOT how I should be sent out of a nail salon after paying 80 $. I shouldn’t have to ask for my nails to be redone though. Especially for the simplest of things, like smoothing out the nail with the drill properly. And she wouldn’t have had time to fix my nails anyway, as Tahira was the only one that week doing nail appointments and had a client right after me. No one else was available to fix them so I didn’t bother saying anything about it. Hopefully Mimi gets some experienced staff for her business. Anyways, 2 weeks go by and I can see the gel color fading very fast and my SNS nails below it look disgusting. I don’t know what she did but I could tell as she was applying the powder and different coats, that she wasn’t very good at it. I told myself it’ll all turn out okay in the end, and it didn’t. The Pedicures and facials here are the best part. They are extremely relaxing and make you feel pampered with a hot neck wrap, whatever you want to drink, and high end massage chairs. I’m sure if you’re an older lady like most of their clients are, you may enjoy their basic manicure and pedicure. Unfortunately I’ve moved on to another nail salon near me which does a much better job at the SNS. Sorry Nirvana ladies. Wish you the best!

Having just moved to East Brunswick and looking for a new go-​to nail salon, I was eager to visit Nirvana Nails and Day Spa after reading some of the stellar views on Unilocal.However, my own personal visit was nothing like what the other reviewers described. While the employees were nice, I’ve had much better service at much cheaper salons.
At the suggestion of the salon, I made an appointment online well in advance to have a gel manicure by Tahira. The appointment was for mid-​afternoon on a Tuesday, and I was pleased to see only two other customers being serviced when I walked in — the place was otherwise completely empty. Although my appointment was for 3:30pm and I arrived ten minutes early, I was not taken in until nearly 4:00pm with no explanation as to why the nearly empty salon was running behind schedule. My guess is they either need to have more salon staff on hand during the week or they need to schedule appointments with more time in between to accommodate the lack of staff. Other reviewers cited having to wait as well, but being offered a beverage in the meantime to make up for the wait. I was not. That being said, not being offered a beverage was the least of my concerns and I was offered a beverage much later while my nails were being serviced. It was just something hyped up by other reviewers, and I therefore had higher expectations.
When it was finally time for my nails to be serviced, I was not worked on by Tahira but instead by the salon owner, Mimi. No big deal — I had never visited this salon before, so I had no preference. However, this may be of importance to other visitors who make appointments to have specific individuals work on their nails. That being said, Mimi was incredibly nice and did a nice job prepping my nails for the polish. However, I did not get to see the outcome of my nails by her because she abandoned working on my nails midway through for another customer and had Tahira finish them. NEVER have I ever been to a salon where one technician started my nails and another finished them, and I was not pleased. Additionally, when Mimi was working on my nails, she kept having to stop to answer the phone or help incoming customers. I understand these things are a necessary part of any business, but again, the salon needs more staff on hand to help with this.
When my gel manicure was finally cured, I thought my nails looked decent in the dim lighting. However, when I got home I noticed several things. For one, I noticed obvious streaks and uneven polish on several of my nails, as well as small dimples where it looks like bubbles had popped. Additionally, the edges of my nails were very rough — it doesn’t feel like the edge of my nails was capped with polish to protect them. Considering the $ 40 price tag on this gel manicure, I was (and still am) NOT happy. Additionally, it has been six days since I got the gel manicure and it has already begun to chip and lift in certain areas. I am not rough on my hands at all (I am a teacher, and I have been mostly at home for the holidays), so I find this completely unacceptable for a gel manicure. I have gotten gel manicures for MUCH cheaper ($ 20-​$ 25 at budget salons) and had them last even longer than two weeks — despite going on beach vacations and being much harder on my nails.
I wanted to like this place. I really did. However, I do not think I will be returning. If I pay $ 40 for a professional gel manicure, I expect the quality of service (and the product) to be much higher.

First time here but it was an absolutely amazing and relaxing experience. Found them based on their Unilocal reviews and I’m glad I took a chance. I requested an appointment on their website the day before and got an email confirmation. So convenient and I didn’t have to speak to anyone. I had Ruby and she was awesome. She was genuine and friendly and she knew her stuff. She took her time with my pedicure and she could pinpoint the amount of tension I had in my right foot (which literally always cramps). When you get the pedi you get seated in a massage chair and they get you a neck wrap which can be hot or cold and a beverage. I chose water which was served with cucumber orange and a fresh sprig… So refreshing. The details were really what made it an experience, not just a mani/​pedi. I would definitely get this as a gift for someone. Treat yo’self!

I wouldn’t recommend at all, way over rated. Booked an appointment over a week in advance, showed up 10 min early. Waited over 40 minutes, no explanation no sorry. …wound up walking out. I’ll never be going back. Not sure how they won an award, very poorly managed. I would have given no stars if possible…

This is my go-​to-​spot for my nails! From gel to SNS. It is actually the most I’ve ever paid for my nails but each time I went, it didn’t chip or lift for 4 – 5 weeks. I would rather go here and spend the $ then go to a regular nail salon where it usually chips or lifts within 1.5−2 weeks, which is ridiculous.

I decided to pamper myself before my sister’s wedding. I was browsing for a nice nail place to go to and stumbled upon Nirvana via Unilocal.I booked my appointment for a Classic Manicure and Pedicure through their website and quickly received an email confirmation within a few hours of making the request.
Nirvana is located in the same shopping plaza and Amazing Savings and Shoppers World. The strip mall really could be freshened up; it looks so run down. However, Nirvana is an oasis.
Upon entering, it feels as though you have left the strip mall and arrived at a lovely spa! There is a small seating area at the front and they have some spa products for sale. The middle section of the salon is the manicure station, followed by the pedicure chairs. Towards the back, are small rooms for massages, facial treatments, and waxing.
Christy took care of me that day. I sat down in the pedicure chair, sipping on a water with cucumber and lemon, while she pampered my feet. The massage chair also pampered me as well. It is a serious chair!
After my pedicure it was manicure time. I went with my own dusty mauve nail varnish and picked a sparkly glitter polish for my statement nail. The manicure was just as relaxing and I enjoyed chatting with Christy.
This was one of my favorite nail spa experiences. I am so thankful to find great places like this. Great service, relaxing atmosphere. I can’t wait to return!

Great experience here, when I called in the morning to make an appointment, the staff was super friendly and got me an appointment for two people that afternoon. Don’t let its location in a small strip mall fool you, the nail salon is clean and relaxing and Ruby did a great job with my pedicure! I recommend!

Stopped in while at a conference nearby based on Unilocal reviews. It’s in a strip mall and doesn’t look like much from the outside. But the service was AWESOME and Ruby gave me one of the best pedicures I’ve ever had. Highly recommended.

Great little nail salon. Came here for a pedicure and was very hesitant to walk in. Just like other reviewers say, the area where this salon is located looks SKETCHY – a mostly abandoned strip mall completely lacking in ambiance. That said, don’t let the pothole-​filled parking lot fool you – this place is a gem! The staff are lovely, professional, and kind. The prices are reasonable and I would absolutely go again.
Quick tip: They do not let you add tip on your credit or debit card, so make sure you have cash if you plan to leave a tip.

This spa is located in the middle of an otherwise abandoned-​looking strip mall, and I never would have stopped in if not for the recommendation of my mother-​in-​law. We wanted to have a family girls’ spa day, and we made appointments for manis/​pedis and massages one Saturday morning. And it was perfect!
The staff was super attentive and flexible when some of us changed our original services. And there are little details that really make you feel like you have permission to relax and enjoy: the neck wraps, the cookies and drinks, and they even had glasses for our wine. Making appointments online was easy, and I appreciated that they emailed confirmation beforehand.
It was a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning.

I have been a Nirvana fan for a long time. The facility is clean and welcoming. The associates are friendly and knowledgeable.
Unlike most nail salons, Nirvana doesn’t smell like acrylic when you enter, and the employees don’t make «Pick your color» your only verbal exchange! It doesn’t look like an assembly line of tables and chairs when you walk in the door. Instead, they acknowledge and welcome you, by name. They offer herbal teas and neck wraps infused with herbs, with classical background music and a relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re having a spa experience!
I have been to many, many nail salons. I’ve had awful experiences at some of them. My nails look and feel pretty when I leave Nirvana.
Nirvana also offers nice facials, massage, eyelash extensions and other services. There is nothing better than a facial to make you feel refreshed and a massage to make you feel relaxed. Try eyelash extensions, when you need to feel a little glamorous!
They also have many great products for sale! I have no reason to go anywhere else.

The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. They offer you beverages or neck wraps while you wait. The two times I came for my appointment they ran about 15 minutes late each time, but were apologetic. I had a full SNS set done. They looked okay. Nothing to specifically complain about, just didn’t walk out loving my nails. They held up pretty well. At the first fill my nails looked almost the same, but there was some immediate lifting and my nails had been filed inward (if that makes sense) so much that my nails with product were much narrower than the width of what my natural nail bed would be. No one would notice that but me, but I wasn’t a fan and I took them off shortly after. So I had these on for 4 weeks total and spent about $ 150 ($ 70 for the set and $ 55 for the fill I think plus tip).

I don’t get my nails done that often but I have been here twice and really can’t complain about anything. The women who work there are all super friendly. I actually got gift certificates for all of the girls in my office for the holidays this year.
I enjoy that they are good with appointments, the service is fast and they do a good job!

I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone! They actually care and take time to do a perfect job. I had a spa manicure this included a hot neck pillow with infused scents, exfoliating my arms and moisturizing them with a wrap. All the products they used they make themselves. They also have coffee and drinks for all customers! Was such a friendly and welcoming environment i loved it and will definitely be back!

I first tried Nirvana through a Living Social deal (for a spa pedicure), and I enjoyed the experience. When another Living Social deal popped up, I bought it and was happy to go back. However, when I called to make my appointment, I was told that the «fine print» on the deal said that it applied to new clients only. They would «honor» my voucher, but I would have to pay the difference (i.e., pay full price for the spa pedicure). I checked with Living Social to see if I was within the time window for a refund, and I was not. So — I really didn’t have a choice unless I wanted to lose $ 30.
I wasn’t going to argue about the «fine print» — fine, they got me. But I told them that I wanted to add a manicure to my appointment (because I was getting a mani/​pedi for a wedding). Since I was adding a service, I asked if I could apply the value of my voucher to a regular mani/​pedi, so that I was paying less out of pocket that I hadn’t anticipated spending (I would never get a pricey «spa» pedicure if I were paying full price). They said no — I had to get the spa pedicure.
I was already adding a service to my appointment — how much money were they really going to lose? And, I would have kept going back, but now I will not be returning. Ultimately — the nail services were fine, but they have terrible customer service.
