One of my favorite Jamaican bakeries. I usually just get patties and turnovers. They are always hot, fresh and tasty. There is an ample selection of drinks in the cooler to choose from. Prices are fair for the portions. Parking can get dicey since no one seems to read the sign that advises not to block the driveway. I usually park in the street, you’re in and out so quickly, it makes it easier to get out and no risk of getting blocked in.

This a great little restaurant for Jamaican food. It’s a hole in the wall type of place mainly for take out. Whenever I go I get the oxtail with rice and beans and always always always coco bread! Like others have said, service is not friendly, but in this case it doesn’t have to be, as the food makes up for it. Prices are also great, especially for the amount of food they give you.

If you never had a Jamaican beef patty with coco bread, go here. If you have had one and it wasn’t from here, go here. Food is always hot and fresh.

Cleanliness is not all there, there is little to no parking and the staff is rude. How does this place earn 4 stars still do you ask? Because it is awesome Jamaican food, that’s how. I have had curry goat, oxtail, patties, jerk chicken, and jerk pork. A well priced snack pack is all you need from this place. It fills you right up. So just phone ahead, and they probably still won’t have your food ready the 20 minutes later that you get there, but after 5 minutes of standing there in silence waiting for your food they just started getting together, you have a brown paper bag full of heaven.

Peppers is fantastic! The prices are very low and you get a lot for your money. Really great Jamaican dishes and their Beef Patties are the best I’ve ever had. They are big too and you feel stuffed after eating them. Adding the coconut bread to the beef patty is a must; the bread is warm and soft and the spiciness of the beef goes well together. For $ 4 you could get a beef patty with coconut bread and a can of soda!

On May 2nd I went back with my dad and sister, and we got the oxtail and curry goat(as well as the normal patties, coco bread, and chicken soup for my mom). OH. MY. GOD. The ox tail and curry goat were PHENOMENAL. Spicy and tender, and they just melted in my mouth. The amount of spices were perfect, and the white rice they came with was cooked to perfection. I think I’ve found something from Pepper’s that I like even more than the patties! That’s something, because I could live on beef patties for the rest of my life. Pepper’s is now, without a doubt, my go-to place for Jamaican food. Also of note, when we went, it was around noon and the place was chock-full busy. The two women weren’t slow or grumpy this time. 5⁄5 for me.

Many moons ago, a buddy of mine started raving to me about Jamaican Beef Patties. The roach coach that came to his job site had them, and he kept telling me how great they were. Over the years, I’ve made a point of trying them all over, and they’re always dry and flavorless. When I mention it to somebody, they always respond«oh, they’re no good there». I try them somewhere else, and I get the same thing. Finally, I have found a good Jamaican Beef Patty. My biggest complaint is always about the outside. At other places, it’s always this super-dry mess that crumbles everywhere as I eat it. These were moist and delicious. The meat could have had more spice, but that’s just me. I like spice. So, thank you Peppers for showing me why people love Jamaican Beef Patties. I also grabbed some coco bread with cheese. It wasn’t any different than anywhere else. Just some good bread with cheese. It was $ 2 for the bread and $ 2 for the beef patty. That was a whole meal. Where else can you get a meal for $ 4? If you’re in the area, make a point of getting some food at Peppers. I can’t wait to go back and try one of the entrées.

Really darn good Jamaican food. The patties are awesome, the portions on the jerk dishes are stupendously enormous, and even some of the cookies and pastries are really interesting. Service is fine… as could be expected for a low budget place like this. The only downside is that you have to go into the worst part of East Hartford to get it, which means I would NOT ever consider sitting down inside the restaurant to eat my meal. Not a huge problem though, I can enjoy at home too :).

Very good food. Service is to be expected slow and rude. But they have some serious good eats! So if you want to be treated like crap and get some this areas best jamaican food then this is the place!
