For a person who finally tried sushi so much that I finally liked it… this was the place to do it. I’m not an avocado or fish fan so finding a type of sushi that I could actually like would be a challenge but omi sushi seemed to pull through for me. I got the chicken teriyaki roll and shared a shiitake and Cucumber roll. These two were seriously amazing and made me actually enjoy sushi for the first time. With just a little bit of soy sauce it was complete. We went at a great time right around 4:30 in the afternoon and it was dead(except that there was a blizzard outside and we were crazy enough to go out). The service was good and we always had our cups filled with water and wasn’t a bad price for what we ordered. I would definitely come back here again.

Omi is probably my favorite restaurant in East Lansing since my freshman year(now I’m a junior), I’ve been there with my friends probably for a thousand times! And my friends love this restaurant too. The stuff are so friendly and nice, the food is AMAZING! My favorite sushi are dragon roll, and sweat dream, they are so so good, and I love all of their udon menu, as well as lunch special ramen, shabu shabu, fish egg don, beef teriyaki, tako yaki, gand they have so many more delicious dishes!!! I mean the sushi are so good but I highly recommend you to order something besides the sushi!

For the lunch specials you can get 2 simple rolls and soup and salad. For like 7 – 8 $ add another simple roll and maybe a one piece tomago as desert and you’re pretty satisfied.

I have been going to Omi on a regular basis for almost five years now. It is conveniently located next to Michigan State University. Not only is it delicious but service is always quick and accommodating. The ginger dressing is to-die-for!

The fish egg don was off the chain! Service was excellent. The staffs were very kind and on point. I’ve been to all Japanese joints in town but Omi is ze best. Would def recommend.

Let me start this review by saying I LOVE Omi Sushi. I’ve only been here one other time, and I’ve been dying to go back. We walked in 20 minutes before close and I asked the waitress if it was to late to eat. She assured us it wasn’t, and we ordered promptly. I got a spicy California, a fresh veggie, and a tuna, shrimp tempura, & avocado roll. My boyfriend got a chicken teriyaki, a dragon, and a shrimp tempura roll. We devoured the meal. For the money, it was a great value. The California roll had 8 pieces, which is two more than most other sushi places! The fresh veggie was very fresh, and large. The tuna, shrimp tempura, & avocado was good, but not the standout. My boyfriend’s favorite was the dragon roll; he said it was amazing. I appreciated that we never felt rushed, even though we left 20 minutes after the closing time. The service was very friendly and our waitress was attentive. I love you Omi Sushi, and I will be back.

This is my second time dining here and the food is still amazing. Good consistency good flavor good value. The nigiri is a must try. Rolls are average but the handrolls are amazing. I tried the Spicy Salmon hand roll which is the best so far.

Best nigiri in East Lansing, the fish is cut thick and they’re really fresh. The price is quite reasonable for its portion. Heads up, if you’re coming in with a larger party and all are ordering sushi/nigiri, the wait time is rather long.

The food here is simply delicious. The Nigiri is a must here. The salmon Nigiri has the perfect combination of rice and salmon. The rolls here is great too. A must try is the Volcano or the crunch munch. Aside from those, the spicy salmon handroll is a favorite too. The spicy sauce is not overwhelming spicy but it helps to heighten the flavor of the salmon. Overall, my experience here has been awesome. The servers are friendly and helpful too. Definitely will come back here again

Great nigiri sushi. Will be coming back often. Service will be slow if your party is huge. But the nigiri will be worth the wait. Great atmosphere and clean

Best sushi in EAST Lansing(not Lansing/Okemos). My favorite is the crunch munch roll, which has crab salad and shrimp on top with eel sauce. The place is pretty small but cozy, and I’ve never had to wait long there.

Every time I have dined in Omi, I have thoroughly enjoyed that I’ve ordered. The service has been good, the restaurant is always clean and the menu provides a great selection. Omi’s prices are a touch higher than other comparable sushi restaurants but, this could be because they are in East Lansing very close to MSU campus. I definitely recommend Omi.

The food here is nothing less than very enjoyable to eat! I had the spicy tempura chicken, the spicy ramen and diablo sushi! All of which had unique aspects to them that you would not expect! The sushi incorporated rice paper, jalapeños and avocados. The spicy ramen added a diverse mixture of fish cakes, oysters, large shrimp, fried egg, and napa cabbage and the broth was spicy and delicious! Very creative presentations! Now, for a little bit of the downside. When I was first seated, I was there alone. So, I was seated near the back by the bathroom. Asked to be moved and they didn’t seem happy. I was moved to a table that was unstable. I had to put numerous things on the underside of the table so it would not topple over. The staff, initially, seemed a bit cold and annoyed with me. But, as the experience went on… They did warm up a bit and it all ended well. The food came out in a timely manner and as I said, it was not disappointing at all! Great lunch combos on the menu as well! Looking forward to coming back soon with more people! If I am not by myself, I know I will get a better table and the food is good!

I had lunch at Omi Sushi on a cloudy yet warm Saturday when I visited East Lansing. The Unagi Don was very tasty along with radish side in a small yet tall box. It’s $ 17 which is relatively pricey in East Lansing but it’s okay if you are from Chicago. It’s located nearby MSU so I guess it’s very popular lunch place for the students.

The unagi ju for $ 17 is good, but a little bit more veggie would be great. The ramen noodle soup for $ 9 has some seafood, so it is a good cheap pick.

By far the best Sushi place in the Lansing area. We have been to them all and nothing beats Omi. Anyone who likes Maru or Sansu better isn’t looking for authentic Sushi or cuisine.

The food was ok. Hot pod was not bad, but overpriced, should be cheaper. Sushi and nigiri were so so, definitely American style Asian food. Service was bad, All the staffs were standing there and taking to each other, no one took care of us, had to wait and wait and asked if they have time to refill our water, their attitude was rude. This review is for the service, terrible.

Located in the heart of the Michigan State University campus, Omi Sushi was a nice discovery! In a sea of fast food and Buffalo Wild Wing places(typical college kid fare), Omi is a nice sushi spot. The sushi was really good an the service was quick. Sometimes you have to wait forever for sushi, but I was served and received my sushi within about 15 minutes, which I thought was pretty good!

Omi is a solid sushi spot in a great location. The restaurant is easy enough to spot from the street — swathed in cool blues and metallic silver, you know walking in that seafood is on the menu. Omi is easily one of the more centrally located sushi spots for MSU students — much closer than the best options(Maru & Sansu) in town. Servers are accommodating and attentive. Sushi is solid. More basic rolls and house specials are done very well, but the soft shell crab was fried a little too long. Noticed that many other patrons went with noodles; will have to try on another visit.

This was my second time at Omi Sushi. My first experience was not that great and I never wanted to come back, but my sister likes some of their food and so we went with the Bos. The first time I tried Omi was two years ago. I got the a sashimi lunch combo and the fish was slimy and smelled awful. The mackerel sashimi pieces were the worst pieces of fish I had ever had. The udon, sushi rolls, and rice entrees were not memorable either. So for the second time around, we ordered: 3 special rolls: All pretty good. I don’t remember the exact names. My sister picked her favorites. Spicy salmon roll: Pretty good. It could be a bit spicier. I did appreciate that they didn’t mash it into a baby food like how other restaurants tend to prepare it. In general I wish there wasn’t so much rice in their rolls and that the rolls were wrapped tighter. Spicy scallop roll: Good roll. I would get this again. Raw scallops tasted fresh with good flavors. I would ask for a lemon to add some much needed acidity. Yellowtail/scallion roll: Fishy tasting yellowtail, but nothing that soy sauce and sriracha can’t mask. Tempura udon: Soggy, but decent tempura vegetables and shrimp. The udon noodles were way to thick and overcooked. The broth was not developed in flavor at all. Chicken teriyaki: Overcooked and very dry chicken. Couldn’t get over this. So disappointing. Tempura green tea ice cream: Best thing they have here. Good green tea ice cream and crispy tempura coating. The servers are very attentive, but the first time I was there it was annoying. They kept picking up every single piece of straw wrapper, & loose paper throughout our meal and it was disruptive. They kind of stopped this, –thank God. Would I come back here? Yes. If my sister REALLY wants to again, but I would prefer not to.
