Specialties

The Record Lounge is an all vinyl record shop in East Lansing, Michigan across from MSU. We have new and used vinyl, shirts, magazines, vintage stereo equipment, local/Michigan bands cd’s and lp’s, shirts, posters, stickers and more…

History

Established in 2008.

Opened in January of 2008 by Heather Frarey and Mark Voldeck after 3 months of opening Mark left and Heather kept it open.

The Record Lounge has went through some cool changes since that time and will continue to grow through the years.

We are now located between The State News and the colored parking ramp

on Division St. Where Trillium art gallery used to be.

We have a street level shop finally, and will be having local and

some touring bands play often so watch the Facebook page for updates.

Meet the Business Owner

Heather F.

Business Owner

I have worked in the record business in one way or another since high school in 1980. I had always wanted to open a record shop of my own and with the help of friends and family I was able to do so in 2008. Through the years I have gained a lot of knowledge in music but am also learning new things on a daily basis. I started at Michigan Wherehouse Records in 1979 left in 1982 and then came back in 1988 and worked my way from clerk to cassette department buyer, I left in 1996. In 1999 was injured in a motorcycle accident and due to that I had to leave my job as a dental assistant, I only knew music so began selling vinyl online (hated it !) but that began the quest to start my own shop which I did in 2008, the rest is is history. Come in the shop anytime and shoot the breeze, love talking music!
